right now. you can catch it on e-s-p-n. stephanie/lam as fans in california cheer on the hawkeyes -- watch parties are underway for fans back here in the metro. here's a look at one at hawkeye- themed sports bar "the front row" (ad lib a little) fans can get their hands on some drink specials and free food at half time. stephanie: there's still time to join in on the fun! we have a list of watch parties around the metro on our website -- we are iowa dot com. stephanie: new details now after a teen is shot in des moines. stephanie: hundred block of east 14th street. initial reports said people in the home found a 15-year-old boy gunshot wound to the chest on their porch. in reality -- police say evidence shows happened inside the home. were interviewed, a 15-year-old boy custody for a felony charge of reckless use of a firearm. the injured teen hospitalized and survive.

meanwhile -- police are investigating after two men reportedly drove up and open fired on a group of men standing outside. it happened near the forest market on 21st and forest avenue thursday night. a police report says witnesses saw four men standing in the parking lot when a black sedan pulled up and two men inside started shooting at them before driving away. later -- when police found the men, they said they heard the gunshots but didn't see the vehicle. no one was injured in the shooting -- and no arrests have been made. stephanie: new at five -- missouri flood waters reached peak levels today. stephanie: nearly two dozen people have died from the rising waters throughout the state, which are also swallowing homes and businesses whole. river levels are even breaking records at some areas across the state. stephanie/lam and in iowa, the national guard is trying to help out folks in missouri. the iowa national guard has sent about 45 members and 20 vehicles to the town of high ridge, missouri. missouri requested iowa's help after the town's water treatment plant

floodwaters. the plant serves nearly 65- hundred customers in high ridge and murphy missouri. and because of the flooding, more than 20- thousand missouri residents are currently without clean drinking water. stephanie a specialized group of iowa soldiers left earlier this morning to provide missouri residents relief tonight. they call themselves the "water dogs" -- they specialize in delivering clean water wherever it's needed -- preparing tankers and a tactical portable treatment system that can produce 15- hundred gallons of drinking water per hour. some soldiers have done flood duty before... for others, this was all a first. the water plant is back up and running. stephanie/1shot a central iowa fire cheif is getting a little extra help after his house burnt down in october. lehigh fire chief kirk kelley and his family lost their first house in 2011. then in october of 2015 their newly built home caught fire too. the family narrowly escaped but lost everything inside. now living in a temporary smaller home.. kelley's daughter kyah is stepping up to help. she's started her own business selling cookies, desserts to she told her dad she wanted to get help get a new home and their dog back living with the family. we're taking a national headlines now. president obama is vowing that 20-16 will be a year of action to protect americans from gun violence. in a new year's day address, the president suggested the possibility of issuing executive orders aimed at making it harder for criminals to get guns. abc's bazi kanani is in washington with more. somber memories as the new year begins. the president refers back to the horrifying mass shooting of kindergarteners in newtown, connecticut---as he announced his new year's resolution to act on gun control. of videos attacking those pushing for stricter gun controls... including democratic presidential candidate hillary clinton. stephanie/bam following your national headlines -- the wife of comedian bill cosby has been ordered to give a deposition in a defamation suit against her husband. a massachusetts court rejected a motion by camille cosby to cancel the deposition order -- she's scheduled to testify next week. the defamation case involves seven women who have accused bill cosby of drugging and sexually assaulting them. bill cosby also faces felony sexual assault charges in pennsylvania over an alleged incident that happened in 2004. stephanie: and iconic r&b star natalie cole has died at the age of 65. the grammy winner and daughter of the legendary nat king cole reportedly died in a los angeles hospital late thursday night. her hits include

"unforgettable" and "inseparable." stephanie/bam and in your world headlines -- officials in dubai are checking out last night's dramatic hotel fire ... process of cooling down the smoldering building . the fire at around 9:30 pm years eve and quickly took hold ... sending flames shooting up one side of the 63 floor building. everyone was safely evacuated from the hotel and only 16 people were treated for mostly minor injuries. stephanie: meanwhile -- two people have been killed and four seriously injured after a shooting near a pub in tel aviv -- police are actively searching the scene earlier this morning and conducting a manhunt for the suspect -- officials have not yet confirmed if the incident was criminal, or if there were terrorist motives. stephanie: chief meteorologist brad edwards joins us now.. brad ((ad lib weather toss))

stephanie: a big party rang- in the new year a big party rang- in the new year in new york city. and as soon as it ended, more than 170 workers stepped in to cleaning-up times square. party hats, confetti, and noisemakers were all part of the debris swept away. the party generates lots of trash -- last year, 48 tons of it! stephanie/lam quite a few parties were held across the country last night -- across the u-s, revelers turned out to lift a glass, kiss a lover ... or just watch fireworks with friends and family. kim hutcherson has a look at some of the celebrations: "(nats) america says hello to 2016! cities large and small rang in the new year - each in its own unique style. times square was, of course, the place to be in new york city. officials expected a

at midnight, the waterford crystal ball -- 12 feet in diameter and sporting more than 25-hundred crystal triangles -- came down to mark the beginning of january, 2016. raleigh, north carolina celebrated by dropping an acorn. while in atlanta, crowds gathered to watch a peach drop. in mobile, alabama, they celebrated by dropping a moon pie. fort worth, texas treated new year's revelers to an impressive light and fireworks show. this was the scene on beale street, in memphis tennessee. people gathered to watch a guitar drop-- unfortunately, it stalled. revelers in new orleans partied as hard as you'd expect them to in the big easy. the same goes for people on the strip in las vegas. the west coast represented itself well, as usual. san francisco's party centered around treasure island. while seattle's iconic space needle provided the perfect counterpoint for the city's fireworks display. stephanie/lam
