amanda/bam: quinnipiac university announced it's latest poll of likely democratic caucus goers. bernie sanders once again edged out hillary clinton... but only by a couple of points. here are the results... with 49 percent sanders has a four point lead over hillary clinton who got 45 percent in the poll. former maryland governor martin omally got 4 percent. in quinnipiac's poll of likely republicans... that just came out yesterday... donald trump and ted cruz are in a virtual dead heat with 31 and 29 percent. marco rubio in third with 13 percent. both the democrat and republican quinnipiac polls have ahd the same results for the last couple of months. but the assistand director of the polls says that doesn't mean these will be the results on cacus night - because many iowans who took the poll said their mind wasn't made up. " amanda/bam: again.... the results from both republican and democratic caucus goers are virtually unchanged from quinnipiac's poll taken earlier this month... and even the month before that. the lead in iowa remains up in the air heading in to caucus night. reporting live in the studio, chief political correspondent amanda krenz - we are iowa. jack/1shot: democrats are planning for a photo op and a pep rally at the state capitol ahead of tomorrow night's republican debate. supporters for bernie sanders, hillary clinton, and martin o'malley painted the back drop with their blue signs. iowa's democratic party chair spoke about how the party is unified no matter which candidate democrats support. expand the progress we've seen over the past seven years. " stephanie/1shot: for republicans ... front runner donad trump is making waves tonight. his campaign just announced that he will hold a special event at drake university thursday night, settling the question...will he be on stage for tomorrow night's national debate. fox news says the line-up includes ted cruz, ben carson, marco rubio, rand paul, chris christie, jeb bush, and john kasich. trump said tuesday night in marshalltown that he is skipping the debate because he does not want to answer moderator megyn kelly's questions. trump and kelly have been feuding since the first republican debate back in august when kelly questioned trump on comments about women. ted cruz says he's disappointed trump is missing the debate - and says iowa voters should keep that in mind on caucus night. "i want you to think how you would react if you were interviewing someone for a job and they said 'you know what? i'm not willing to show up for the interview. i want the job. i'm going to announce it on tv. i want the job you're offering, but i ain't

questions, i'm not willing to come in front of you. i think i am more important than the people who are going to hire me. that's what a candidate is saying if he's saying he's unwilling to stand in front of you and ask for your support. (laughs) and you know what? if someone did that...didn't show up at the interview...you know what you'd say? 'you're fired. " stephanie: cruz suggested debating trump one-on-one leading up to monday night's caucus. trump's campaign has not responded to that offer...but we will keep you posted. jack: news from the national guard at the state capitol today. jack/1shot: the iowa national guard has more than 17-hundred positions available for women this year, after a federal policy change. the head of the guard announced today in the "condition of the guard" address that women can now be enlisted in any position, including combat roles. the latest numbers on active duty and training missions

15 iowa soldiers and airmen are now deployed around the world. additionally, the first-ever foreign consulate office in iowa will open this friday in downtown des moines. stephanie/1shot: an issue that's sure to bring some controversy at the statehouse - new legislation called the death with dignity act. lawmakers who will introduce bill held a news conference today. and iowans suffering from terminal illness shared their stories. "19:48 i believe it is a basic human right to choose not only how we live but also how we die." stephanie: tonight at six our chief political correspondent amanda krenz has more on the legislation and the stories of iowans who hope to have a choice when it comes to ending their own life. jack: a search is on for someone who shot a man in the leg on the east side of des moines yesterday. jack/1shot: it happened just before 2 pm. david fuller tells investigators he was going to the 14-hundred block of east 19th street with a friend to confront someone over a girl. they arrived to find a group of four men there, and one of them

we have new details out of harney county, oregon where a group of armed militants held off federal officials for weeks. jack/1shot: one person is dead and others -- under arrest -- after tensions boiled over with that armed anti- government group. abc's ray raimundi has the latest. " it's very very important from a supply point that we stanpoint, which means the importation of heroin, from a demand standpoint which means too many people in the united states using it so it's a law enforcement interdiction problem.

because this air is fairly mild. we should have a mix of sun and clouds again thursday with highs in the upper 30s to lower 40s. it will be breezy the next few days with southerly winds returning on friday and saturday which will mean warmer temps! highs friday and saturday should reach the mid to upper 40s for most areas in central iowa with some 50s possible in sw iowa! it will be dry through saturday, but we could see some light rain or snow showers sunday morning with a system passing through iowa. after the weekend, all eyes will be focused on a big winter storm that will be developing monday into tuesday next week. right now,
