(laughs) no... i didn't." nearly all of the candidates are also making the rounds on the sunday talk shows. (???) sot - sen. ted cruz / (r) presidential candidate "a vote for marco rubio... is a vote for
addressed the state department's recent announcement... declaring that "22 emails" sent from her private server... contained "top secret information." (abc this week) sot - hillary clinton / (d) presidential candidate "no classified marked information on those emails..." nats - "...sanders rally..." her opponent -- bernie sanders telling crowds -- it all comes down to voter turnout. some iowans are receiving letters... rating their voting record. the mailer is a yellow piece of paper telling receipents that they need to caucus to raise their rating and they have a quote " voting violation." this is not sitting well with iowa secretary of state paul pate. nikki pate released a statement saying, "there is no such thing as an election violation related to frequency of voting.... any insinuation or statement to the contrary is wrong and i believe it is not in keeping in the spirit of the iowa caucuses." nikki/lam: so, you may still be on the fence about whether you want to join the caucus process tomorrow night. the good news is there's still time to figure that out. organizers are expecting a record turnout for this event... party leaders say if you're looking to get a spot, you should go to their websites to find out more. people can type in their address to determine where to go caucus... or they can call either party. josh levitt, iowa democratic party press secretary: "we're asking folks to get there early just for sign in and registration purposes, but the great thing about our caucuses is that your voice matters and this is your opportunity to have your voice heard. iowa has such a special place in the process, and this is your chance

nikki: welcome back... as the entire state is gearing up for the first in the nation caucus.... some iowans still don't even know how it works. cnn's chris moody helps us out. "sot - mitt romney twenty three percent.
the purple is rick santorum, you see the impressive nature. barack obama, the senator from illinois. the junior senator from illinois has won the iowa caucuses. chris moody - every four years we hear all about the iowa caucuses, it's a huge
but what does it mean to actually win. probably not what you think. on the night of the caucuses, iowa officials from both parties count the votes and announce to the media who got the most. and we report that they won. sot - yes! very good. third time's a charm. excellent flicking. chris moody - it's important to know what winning really means. you might assume that the person that wins the iowa caucuses gets the most delegates at the convetion. not so! the iowa caucuses are really just a straw poll. they have no bearing on delegate selection. by the time that the iowa party actually selects their delegates, its actually much later in the process. sometimes the whole primaries are already over. so, why do we care so much? there is actually a reason. the iowa caucuses are the first electoral contest on
the calendar, so it gives an initial look at the state of the race, and winning first is a great place to start. there is some controversy though. despite all the attention that the caucuses receive, not a lot of iowans actually participate, and i think there's a reason for that. caucusing actually takes several hours. and they're usually held after work hours. but what about
well they can't shift on caucus night? can't caucus. disabled? can't leave the house? can't caucus. just kind of lazy and don't want because its freezing
in iowa in the middle of winter. can't be blamed but also can't caucus though. supporters say that the process is there because its a community event. it gets people in your small town talking about politics, and really engaging. and in that sense, its pretty cool. but now when you're watching the caucus results in february, you'll really know what we mean when we say a candidate has won. " nikki: polls project that about 170 thousand republicans will be caucusing...abou t 110 thousand democrats. nikki: the city of waukee has approved a trade that will benefit its schools and the city budget. waukee's city council recently announced the deal... which will give city land. the land is located right by
facility to the school district. there will also be a retention pond to help the city combat any flooding issues and a fueling station for the city and the schools. the district has been storing buses four miles outside of the city. city leaders say it's a good deal for both parties. brad deets, development of services director: "it comes down to convenience, it comes down to timing for our employees to go elsewhere to get gas and obviously there's a savings relative to the rate of gas because it's bulk fueling as opposed to retail fueling." the work on the project is expected to start this spring, with the goal of having it completed by the the work on the project is expected to start this spring, with the goal of having it completed by the fall. nikki/2shot we are iowa's most accurate weather team... meteorologist james peterson is here now... james: i'll have your
