i'm kayna whitworth in for reena ninan. >> i'm kendis gibson. we will get started with the breaking news. federal investigators arresting two with ties to isis. >> both refugees leading to any questions. is is the u.s.oing enough? lana zak live in washington for us. good morning. >> reporter: good morning. the two men arrested in california and texas, both were refugees from iraq, one coming to the united states through syria. in sacramento, a 23-year-old iraqi man arrested accused of trying to travel to s sia to fight with terror organizations and in houston a 24-year-old iraqi man was charged woo isis. their refugee status is sparking new criticism from republicans that the u.s. is not doing enough to screen refugees for potential ties to terrorism. the governor of texas urging president obama to halt the flow of refugees until there is,

the lieutenant governor of texas weighing in saying it may have prevented a catastrophic terror related event in the making and saved countless lives and the u.s. attorney's office tells our station in sacramento there is a connection between the two men but would not elaborate further. both expected to be in their respective corrs today. >> this definitely will be fuel >> yeah. us. >> also this morning, these arrests in the u.s. are coming on the same day as a foiled attack in paris by a man pledging allegiance to isis. >> police officers shot and killed the knife-wielding man. he was threatening them, we're told, wearing what turned out to be a vest with fake explosives. the incident coincided with the first anniversary of the massacre at "charlie hebdo." >> here at home the political attacks are heating up from inside the trump camp. donald trump is taking nene aim on hillary clinton and on

chicago, and salt lake city. okay, so the white house is weighing in on the murder case that was featured in that new netflix documentary series "making a murderer." >> activists believe that steven avery and his nephew were wrongly convicted of murder in wisconsin ten years ago citing new fininngs presented in a documentary. they've stted a petition asking president obama to give them a full pardon but the white house says the president cannot pardon anyone convicted of a stste criminal offense. the mother of the so-called affluenza teen will be arraigned this morning in texas. tonya couch is aus wood of helping a felon, her son, ethan avoid apprehension and was brought from los angeles yesterday in handcuffs and leg irons. ethan remains in mexico fighting his extradition. her attorney says the $1 million bail is unreasonable and wants it reduced. a texas woman in her 5s has given birth to her own granddaughter. acting as a surrogate for her

tracy thompson delivered a healthy six pound 11 ounce girled named kelsey wednesday afternoon. the baby's parents had undergone several infertility treatments only to suffer three miscarriages. thomomon says she was happy to carry the baby for her daughter. >> her and her husband have gone through so much. miscarriages and the fertility and all that and i didn't want to disappoint her. it's been many years since i've been pregnant and the second trimester was great. there. the first and the third were really tough. >> so thompson seven years past menopause but was able to carry the baby because of new medical advances in reproductive technology and we'll have more on that story, i will, coming up on "good morning america." >> a couple of notot from the sports world. should point out ken griffey jr. will wear a seattle mariner's cap. >> front or backwards was a big debate. >> and mike piazza choosing the mets.
