>> philadelphia police may be close to a possible break in the murder of two women in their home. >> and the mercury is looking to get maybe a sniff of the 90's today and higher humidity returns to the accuweather forecast. >> let's get more on that accuweather forecast. we've got david murphy and we've got matt pelman in for karen rogers. good morning. >> well, it's going to be another sunny day obviously as you take a look at satellite and radar you can see that. big area of high pressure kind of knocking out those clouds that tried to sweep in overnight. winds will be light beneath that high and we'll see lots of sunshine. we'll gather in a little bit more of a southerly flow today and that means it's going to stay warm and by the end of the day maybe feeling just a tad humid. 70 degrees in philadelphia. 60 in allentown, 65 in wilmington, 62 in reading, 61 in trenton and upper 60's down the shore. so, we're off to another pretty comfortable start across the region and this afternoon is going to be warm again and bright. 74 degrees by 9 o'clock, by noon, 82 and then by 3 o'clock, 87 degrees. that is your high today and then 83 by 6 o'clock, very warm, lots of sunshine out
there and as i mentioned, maybe just a tad more humid than it was yesterday, although not oppressive by any means. humidity and the heat do get turned up a little bit more tomorrow, though, matt pelman. i'll talk more about that in the accuweather 7-day. >> but if you can just keep it dry am i washed the car yesterday. >> i did two days ago. >> as long as you can keep things dry that would be great. it is dry out there this morning, david and the construction crews are in the process of clearing out. they were working here in southwest philadelphia overnight along 95 close to the airport. southbound there you still see some flashing lights but all the lanes have reopened and they've been doing paving in this area. for the most part you've got a bit of a smoother ride here along 95. they were also working on the mlk drive overnight. that construction scheduled to wrap up right about now at 5 o'clock so everything is reopening but they'll close the mlk again tonight starting at 9:00 and watch out for the work crews on the roosevelt boulevard northbound side near third street blocking the inner drive again until 6 o'clock. in hatfield once again this morning in colmar we have an overnight crash blocking the
southbound lanes of 309 between line lexington road by the burger king and trewig town road. broken down vehicle in limerick near game farm road near main road. no major issues so far this morning on 422. overnight construction on the triple b, burlington bristol bridge wrapped up a few minutes ago. everything is back the normal there and on the ben franklin bridge, we've got westbound construction again this morning. looks like just three lanes coming into center city once again and now it looks kind of dark but keep that in mind because it could slow you down coming from camden into philadelphia on this tuesday morning. matt. >> all right, will do. thank you, matt. stray bullets fly across a delaware county neighborhood piercing a window and coming within inches of a three-year-old child. the search is now on for two gunmen. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at police headquarters in darby borough with more on this. katherine. >> reporter: matt, the tip
calls have been coming in but police are still searching for the two men who opened fire. one of the bullets just missing a crib where a three-year-old was asleep. >> when they're shooting these guns they don't know where they're going. >> reporter: and on this occasion the bullet came dangerously close to the great grandchild of darby borough council president janice davis. less than a half a foot from the top of the crib where the three-year-old was sleeping. >> when i looked at the hole i said that was awfully close to his head but that was my great grandson. if he had stood up he might not be here day. police say around 11 o'clock sunday night two men opened fire nearby. one of the bullets traveled a block and pierced the boathouse two apartments on south fifth street. >> we heard about six or seven gun shots. >> i heard the shooting and everything. i hit the floor. >> reporter: the gunmen fled. it wasn't until later police learned the stray bullet almost struck the three-year-old. >> if the child stands up, the
child is hit. or if the bullet is 10-inches lower, the child is hit. >> reporter: and darby borough lease police were going door to door looking for any information anyone might have. if you have any information darby borough police want to hear from you. you can call them or just call 911. we're live in darby borough, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> katherine thank you. new this morning police in ocean city, maryland, are investigating the death of a lehigh county man after he was apparently assaulted. ocean city police found justin cancilieri unconscious at 3:15 sunday morning. he later died at the hospital. friends say the 37-year-old father of two went to the beach to get his mind off his grandmother's funeral. the medical examiner is conducting an autopsy to determine the cause of death. >> philadelphia police say they may have a break in the case avenue double murder. it happened along the 4700 block of vista street in mayfair on saturday. 67-year-old dollie evans and
her house guest 59-year-old ruby thomas were both shot in their heads execution style. authorities say they are now questioning a 25-year-old man who was also staying with evans. police say witnesses saw him fleeing the scene. family members are not sure what could have sparked the shooting. >> i was shocked. and i -- i was shocked. i didn't see it coming. i didn't see that coming from him. >> evans' brother says the man had been living in a halfway house before she took him in. so far no charges have been filed. two people are hospitalized following a north philadelphia row home fire. chopper 6 hd was over this scene along the 600 block of north 12th street last night as firefighters battled the blaze from the roof. investigators have yet to determine what sparked the fire. the conditions of the two victims have not been released. >> it's 5:05 and the city of philadelphia is set to celebrate its favorite little leaguers, the taney dragons with a parade down broad street on wednesday.
the parade will start at 2 o'clock in the afternoon on 20th and market streets then will it wind its way around city hall to broad street. the team will make two stops, the first one at the kimmel center where the philly pops will host app special performance and then at broad and washington where the team will be greeted by the mummers. the party in the streets will end with a rally at fdr park. afterwards the dragons will head to citizens bank park where the phillies will host a pregraham tribute. stay with "action news" and 6abc.com for continuing coverage of all the excitement surrounding the taney dragons. that's what they deserve a-big played. >> absolutely. we're getting more heat and humidity today. >> your y-more warmth arc little more humid. i think the -- tomorrow is the day the humidity kicks in. storm tracker 6 shows you we're starting out dry just like yesterday morning. as we take a look outside stars are out over the airport, we'll have plenty of sunshine up over the horizon a little bit later on in the morning and we're starting out in pretty decent shape temperature-wise.
we're at 70 degrees in philadelphia, 59 degrees right now in allentown. we just dipped down into the 50's there. 62 degrees in reading, 63 in trenton. 69 in sea isle city and at the boardwalk and 63 degrees in millville right now. satellite and radar shows you how we've got a lack of a lot of cloud cover across the region so if you're planning on heading up and down i-95 or out the turnpike or anywhere else on our highways or by ways pack the shades this morning. allentown going to be a warm one, going for a high of 87 degrees, mainly sunny much like yesterday and very warm, perhaps feeling a bit more humid than yesterday as we roll through the day. and down the beach not a bad day, 74 at noon, 80 at 3 o'clock, lots of sun, very similar to yesterday. winds won't be all that strong and your ocean temperature still running in the mid 70's. u.v. index still on the high side. in philadelphia 87 degrees is your high, mostly sunny, very warm out there and winds out of the southwest at six to 12 miles per hour. perhaps a bit on the humid side. as we roll through the day, we'll stay in the 70's for the
morning for the most part but right around lunchtime we'll be up to 80 and then we're well into the 80's after that. by 2 o'clock, 86. your high of 87 around 3 o'clock and still in the mid 80's by 5 o'clock this evening. for the phillies tonight, 79 for the first pitch, 71 in the ninth inning. ones the sun goes down it's going to feel pretty pleasant down the ballpark, phillies trying to beat the nationals for the seconds straight day. tomorrow we have a frontal boundary that gets closer to us encouraging a and increased flow of southerly air and that will raise the humidity to more noticeable levels. there might also be a late day or night time spotty thunderstorms in a couple of spots. most of you probably don't see that. hurricane cristobal is now a category one hurricane moving up past us over the next 24 to 48 hours and for the next several days we do have a high risk of rip currents down the shore. be careful if you're down there in all this nice weather swimming. stay next to the lifeguards and pay attention to any of those flags they post. 87 is today's high, sunny and very warm. accuweather says it will be a day for sweating but not
oppressive humidity-wise. tomorrow hot and more humid, a high of 91 and there's another chance of a pop-up shower or thunderstorm. this would be late in the day or at night. it looks like that system gets out of here pretty quick. on thursday breezy and nice. we may only pop back up into the low 80's, i could see maybe mid 80's but looks like it's going to be a much more pleasant day and a nice night for eagles football at lincoln financial field. percent and nice again on friday and then for the weekend another boundary starts to push in unfortunately for the holiday weekends and that means that it's going to be a little bit more humid as we move through saturday and sunday and monday. you can see how we're looking at temperatures well into the 80's on saturday and sunday. both of those days and monday all feature the chance of a thunderstorm but none of the days look like washouts right now. >> okay, that's good. thanks, david. 5:oh nonnine. residents out west shift in recovery mode following sunday's major earthquake. we're getting a clearer picture on its impact on california's lucrative wine country. >> new research finds many

>> let's see how things are looking on the roads and go over to matt pelman. good morning. >> who is excited about tuesday? yeah. >> we love tuesday here we go. made it through monday. time for the next one with our suburban traffic report. as you're coming out of the burbs this morning we have trouble right here in christiana along highway highwa1 northbound you can't get to 95 northbound. new accident coming in. they have the ramp temporarily blocked because of the overturned vehicle crash so if you're coming up from, say, bear along highway one northbound you want the bail out. maybe use 273 to get over to 95 northbound or bail earlier and run 13 dupont highway north up into new castle and from there work your way over to 141 to 95 northbound or you have options you can head to 295 but again that ramp from highway 1 northbound to 95 northbound now blocked because of an every turned vehicle crash. over in gloucester county in clayton it's a water main break we're watching this morning along delsea drive, route 47 northbound side approaching high street by
good wheels truck center, they've shifted the traffic to get around that water main break. in colmar montgomery county still without the southbound lanes of 309 between line lexington and trewig ton roads. county line road gets you around that one. construction zone started yesterday in marple township, delco along 320 near louis road. water main installation from 9:00 until 3:00. lawrence road would be a better bet for you. camera time in lionville chester county 100 at 113 by the pizzeria uno, mid -- it's nice and dry and clear and time for the commuter report brought to you by the waze app one of our friends in using the app in the lehigh valley says watch out vehicle stopped on the shoulder along 78 westbound. it's on the side so all lanes are opened. tam. >> okay, thank you,. >> hurricane marie continues to kick up high swells along mexico's northern pacific coast and it's threatening to raise dangerous waves along the southern california coast later today.
the storm has weak mean a category three storm. it left about 10,000 homes damaged. one man was injured in a mudslide but there are no other reported deaths. residents in napa valley california remain on alert for aftershocks after that powerful 6.0 earthquake. dozens of minor tremors have since shaken that area since sunday's quake. crews have now restored power and water for most of the city and some businesss in wine country start d to reopen their doors. the walk damaged at least 100 buildings and at least half of those are still too dangerous to enter. >> you want to make sure that the safety level increases and the people aren't going near buildings that have a -- where there's a threat that debris may fall. >> the powerful jolt also overturned wine barrels and smashed thousands of wine bottles however, industry experts say the loss is not like to have an impact on supply or on cost. local officials estimate the damage to the area could top a

the sky in the east. lots of sunshine expected today because of an area of high pressure that's really building right over us. winds are going to be light f we get any kind of afloat all it will tend to be out of the south and that might make things just slightly more humid this afternoon but it's not going to be terrible. temperatures this morning are pretty nice. we've slipped to 59 degrees in allentown, so cool and comfortable in the lehigh valley, 62 in reading, 65 in wilmington. still 70 in philadelphia and low 70's up and down the boardwalks of south jersey. as we head outside this morning, it's going to stay on the comfortable side. 68 degrees and a lot -- in a the love suburbs by 6:00 a.m. philadelphia probably still in the upper 60's or around 70 and 71 degrees by 8 o'clock, mainly clear feeling pretty good to start out. as we roll through the day it is going to be another sunny warm one. 74 degrees by 9 o'clock, 82 by noon and your high today, 3 o'clock, 87 degrees. we'll still be in the low 80's by 6 o'clock. lots of sun. just a little bit humid as we go through the day. matt pelman, the humidity and heat get turned up a little bit higher tomorrow.
