charlie hebdo releases the cover of its upcoming issue. >> updates on weather and traffic right now with david and karen. good morning. >> all right, guys, it's a real cold start this morning as we've got a wind whipping around that's making it feel even cooler than the t as we take a look at satellite, you can see that the rain is gone. cloud cover is starting to break up up to our north and we are expecting to see the clouds break and give us a fair amount of sunshine today. icy issues this morning could be. the rain is over us as you just saw but temperatures have tumbled across much of the region and continue to fall in philadelphia as well. if it looks wet on the roads out there look out because you could run into an icy patch. the temperature has dipped all the way to the freezing mark now in philadelphia, so it's right around now where some of that leftover water on sidewalks and roadways is going the start to freeze up. up north it's already happened. 30 in trenton, 23 in allentown and of course with that that wind blowing around your current wind chill is making it feel like it's 20 in philadelphia and just 12 in allentown so do bundle up. 32 degrees on your storm tracker 6 app on the smartphone.

by 8 o'clock, i think there's a chance we continue to dip down to about 28 and then we're going to spend a good portion of the rest of the day on or about 30, maybe getting back up to 31 briefly around 2 o'clock. karen rogers, you have your eyes on the roads and those potential icy patches. what are you finding. >> i dom we can see one right here, gave. we've been scanning the camera. this is north wales montgomery county and you can see some of the slick spots we're most especially finding at intersections on the sides of the roads so just be careful as you're headed out. it's not that it's widespread. we're seeing traffic move okay in spots. we've also had a few big accidents, too. this is dekalb pike at welsh road. so look for some icy spots right here and be careful especially as you're stopping here at this intersection. in west norriton montgomery county burnside avenue at west main street, this is another area where we're getting reports of icy conditions so be careful specifically in that intersection. we had a tractor-trailer accident. it's off to the shoulder here but on the turnpike eastbound near downingtown so that may cause you a abproem before.

the in wynnefield, 57 street is still blocked. this water main break causing problems. stick to 59 or 54th and you'll be okay. in southwest philadelphia we've traffic lights that are flashing. island avenue at bartram avenue. however, they've fixed the lights and that's a big deal at south street at the schuylkill so traffic moving better there. they were on flash and that would have caused some problems matt. >> thanks for the update karen. developing this morning we're following a break in the case of a burlington county woman who has not been seen since late last year. police took her husband into custody for questioning late last night. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live in mount laurel where that questioning took place. katherine. >> reporter: matt, at this point we're waiting to hear from the prosecutor's office as to whether any charges were filed overnight against kyle crosby who we do know that crosby was taken here last night to the mount laurel police headquarters for questioning after being picked up in brooklawn. it's unclear where he is rider now. investigators havey picked him

up to question him again after his wife went missing. sources told "action news" he had been hang nought camden doing drugs with a prostitute since last wednesday. his wife, erica crippen a mother of two had been missing from her mount laurel home since december 31st. he had told police his wife left him and that he didn't know where she was but relatives didn't believe it. last night when police tried to stop him while he was driving his wife's red ford taurus they said he tried to flee. a chase ensued. "action news" spoke to one driver who. >> there must have been 10 or 12 cop cars. i seen mount ephraim westville, brooklawn gloucester. i never seen -- and i pulled over and then i -- next thing i know there was cop cars all around me. >> reporter: now again at this point there's no word on if kyle crosby has been charged. stay with "action news" for updays. we're live in mount laurel, katherine scott, channel6 "action news." >> thanks, katherine. brand new here, icy roads played a factor in a crash in

berks county last night. state police say two vehicles smashed into each other along orchard road in ruscomb manor township. both drivers were taken to the hospital for injuries. crews from the township arrived later to salt the roads because of the icy conditions. >> police taped off the scene on the 200 block of west 23rd street last night in wilmington and recorded the city's first homicide of 2015. gunfire erupted at 6:30 and an unidentified man in his 20's was shot multiple times. he was declared dead at the scene. detectives have no suspects nor a motive. rite-aid announced it is donating $10,000 towards installing security cameras throughout the city of chester. so far more than a million dollars has been raise fundamental add new cameras and repair old ones. a rite-aid manager was shot and killed in september of 2013 on west ninth street. >> several banks are opening up the pad locks on american's credit scores so they can see them for free.

maribel aber has that story in her market watch report live at the nasdaq in times square. hey, maribel. >> reporter: hey, good morning, to you matt. millions of people will soon be allowed to see their credit scores for free. bank of america njp morgan chase have agreed to show if i fico scores to their customers at no charge. the banks use the scores. until now many of the scores were kept secret known only by the banks. president obama wants companies to confess to hackings quicker. he's proposing a law that would require companies to notify you within 30 days if your personal information has been exposed and the plan is an attempt at establishing a nationwide rule. right now there are 47 different state laws governor governing data breaches. futures pointing to a lier open and your likes on facebook can help predict your personality. at least according to a study from standard university and

heading right into conveniently enough the weekend. 32 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia. down to 30 in trenton. the 20's in the northern and western suburbs. 33 in wilmington and now down to 33 in millville so parts of south jersey also getting close to that freezing mark. satellite and radar showing you cloud cover beginning to break up here and there across its region and we do expect a return of a fair amount of sunshine today and of course it's dry with that rain off the coast. up in allentown it's going to be cold today 29 degrees is your afternoon high, sun mixing with clouds, brisk conditions and by the way all these highs i'm giving you are afternoon highs not the daily highs which likely were already set a couple of hours ago when we were milder. 35 degrees is your afternoon high in. c then. sun and clouds. brisk conditions there. and in philadelphia like everywhere else we're looking at that wind at 10 to 20 miles per hour, so 31 for the high but brisk conditions and feeling like it's in the 20's even at the best of times today. sun mixing with a few clouds. really weird the way temperatures just aren't moving much. by 8 o'clock 28. by 2 o'clock 31.

that's not much of a change at all as we roll through the day and in toward the dinner hour. and then tomorrow we've got an area of low pressure off the coast. it's going to be far enough away from us where most of us stay drive. it will still be cold with a high of 32. if anybody does see perhaps some flurries or a little freezing rain, it would probably be in the southern delmarva down by llewes delaware and rehoboth beach maybe cape may tomorrow but again most of us dry and high pressure coming in from the west then as we head toward the weekend drawing in some milder air. 31 degrees brisk and cold today and your exclusive accuweather 7-day. then tomorrow there will be more clouds and that slight chance of precipitation well south and and east of philadelphia but another cold high of 32. and then partly sunny on thursday still chilly but improving to 37. it's friday afternoon where we get back up to our average high of 40 so a better afternoon there and for the weekend, 44 degrees is your high on saturday. and 49 degrees almost 50 on sunday with a little bit more of a clouds and sun mix. there's a front coming through

>> ♪♪ >> six:13. taking a look at the platt bridge right now and looks like traffic is moving well but this is one of the areas that you could see some slippery conditions because the air beneath the bridge can freeze things up more than some of the roads out there that are basically bolted to the ground. >> so not as bad as yesterday but you still have been to be cautious when you head out this morning. >> in a lot of areas we really had widespread icing problems and here it's just a matter of a slick spot here or there. we're dry not precipitating in the area but the trouble is anything that looks a little shiny is frozen over. so we're looking live here this is chalfont bucks county 202 parkway at limekiln pike. this is one of the areas where we're seeing a few slick spots around the intersections. be careful. you can probably see the shine on the side of the road especially right there so look for that to be a little bit of

an issue especially when you're stopping. give yourself extra time and space as you're doing that let's go to the report of a problem here in west norriton montgomery county burnside avenue at west main street. we got an area where we're reporting icy conditions so be careful as you're headed in this area and a new accident reported on contention lane at berwyn baptist road so watch for that one. in east nottingham township an accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer here. 272 shut down between route 1 and 222. we had a nasty accident in the overnight hours on 295 southbound. it was a tanker that was hauling heating oil here. 295 southbound past 73. all of the southbound lanes are opened. northbound they've just had that left shoulder blocked with crews still on the scene. so we had an overturned tanker overturned tractor-trailer out there. you still need to be careful because i think people are hitting the slick spots. temperatures are below freezing. as we look in the suburbs here, 19 degrees in slatington and fleetwood, 27 pottstown 23 quakertown, 27 warrington.

berks county man confessed to killing a marine who was reported missing nearly a year ago. police say on the river trizarri an 17-year-old boy lured corey samuels from schuylkill county into rural coaldale last january. that's when the pair attacked him eventually killing him. trizarri told investigators he and the teen believed samuels had sexually assaulted a female friend. two albuquerque police officers face murder charges in the killing of a homeless camp he were. this is helmet cam video of dominic perez and keith sandy shooting and killing boyd. boyd was a mentally homeless man who was wielding two knives the district attorney said she would not use secret grand juries like the cases in ferguson and new york but will bring charges in a hearing that will be opened to the public. >> facebook may know you better than your spouse, closest friends, best friend, anyone. hear about this new research on the social networking site that keeps mountains of data on its users.

lights. traffic slowing past the scene. this is eastbound on the schuylkill expressway here at belmont avenue at the end of the on-ramp so just be careful about that. a pickup truck accident here on the turnpike eastbound past willow grove blocking the right lane. some slowing here. starting to get busy dave. got watch for those areas that could be slick. >> sure did. basically if it looks wet this morning you want to slow down because it could be icy. we do have temperatures down to the freezing mark in philadelphia now and areas to the north side and in some areas of rural south jersey we're down below freezing. 28 degrees by 9 o'clock and temperatures just aren't moving today on the bus stop or el station. 30 degrees pretty much through the afternoon. there's a chance we get up to about 31 briefly at 2 o'clock or so. there's also going to be a wind blowing at 10 to 20 miles per hour so despite what numbers you see here expect to it feel like it's in the 20's most of the afternoon. satellite and radar showing you a couple of showers in miami and houston and a little mixed precipitation out near flagstaff in case are you headed to the grand canyon later this afternoon. a little snow out in the midwest not a whole lot.

>> breaking rider now. a big fire erupts under new york city penn station. the husband of a new jersey missing woman has been questioned by police. >> today's wet weather could produce dangers for motorists this morning. we're on the lookout for slippery and hard to spot patches of black ienches it's 6:30. erin o'hearn is filling in for tam. david and karen with weather and traffic. >> not only do we have temperatures that are dropping but the winds are picking up. take a look at satellite you can see there is some cloud cover around early but we are starting to see that dry air crash down from the north and erode those clouds and we're going to wind up with a fair amount of sunshine today. do be careful for possible icy issues this morning though. the rain from last night of course is gone but

temperatures have tumbled and are continuing to tumble this morning and we're getting below freezing across a good portion of the region. so if you're driving around or walking around and something looks wet beneath your tires or feet look out it could be frozen. 32 degrees the freezing mark in philadelphia right now. still holding onto 33 in wilmington and millville and sea isle but all those areas are pretty close to freezing and we're in the 20's up north. with that wind blowing it feels like it's in the 20's. looks like we'll stay below freezing between 6 and 8 o'clock. i think we can actually get down to the upper 20's before we're done with that walk to the bus stop this morning. could be slippery in spots. then on your smartphone there's the 32 right now on your storm tracker 6 app kids but by 8 o'clock 28. by noon, 30 and then we hold 30 degrees or so for the rest of the afternoon. karen you have been keeping an eye on the roads. are we seeing some of those icy patches. >> definitely are because we're seeing some accidents like right here. this is the schuylkill expressway at belmont avenue and you see that accident up ahead bit flashing lights. this is the on-ramp to the schuylkill from belmont. we've got police and penndot

on the scene helping with this accident. we are seeing some slowing on the schuylkill eastbound as you pass that accident so be careful about that one. we have new information on this accident involving a pickup truck. this is here on the turnpike eastbound past willow grove. watch for it and we're hearing that it flipped over onto a guardrail here blocking the right lane. expect some slowing on the turnpike eastbound. an accident involving an overturned tractor-trailer out here in east nottingham township chester county. they've shut down 272 at route 1. you could stick to kirkwood pike as your alternate. a new accident in royersford montgomery county on main street at seventh and we're hearing icy conditions here in west norriton so be careful if you're traveling near burnside avenue at west main street t let's go outside one more time. this is north wales stump road here at horsham road and you can see anything that's a little shiny on the roadway just watch 'cause it's slick. temperatures are below freezing and we are getting accidents, matt. >> okay, thank you karen. a burlington county man was taken into police custody late last night. he was spotted driving his wife's car and the problem is his wife hasn't been seen

since the day before new year's eve. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live in mount laurel with these full details. katherine. >> reporter: matt, right now we're awaiting word from the burlington county prosecutor's office as to whether any charges were filed against kyle crosby overnight but we do know that crosby was taken here last night to mount laurel police headquarters after being picked up in brooklawn where he is right now is unclear. investigators had been trying to locate the 27-year-old to question him again about his wife's disappearance about two weeks ago. sources told "action news" that he had been hanging out in camden doing drugs with a prostitute since last wednesday. his wife, erica crippen mother of two daughters had been missing from her mount laurel home since december 31st. kyle crosby had told police his wife left him and that he didn't know where she was but relatives didn't believe it and wanted him to be questioned again. last night when police tried to stop him while he was driving his wife's red ford taurus they said he tried to

flee. a chase ensued but they caught him. now family members are hoping he knows something about where erica is. >> you know, we haven't slept we haven't ate we haven't did anything, you know. we just want my sister back. it's like a really emotional time for our families. >> all we speaking about is erica every day. this is killing me. just come forward tell us where she at. all she wanted to do was love him again no word yet if any charges have been filed but stay with "action news" for updates. we're live in that mount laurel, katherine scott channel6 "action news. >> and we're following breaking news from new york city. this is new video of a multi-alarm fire that broke out at new york's penn station in midtown manhattan. the fire started around 2:30 this morning and burned through construction sheds. two floors beneath penn station. so far there are no reports of any injuries. penn station did remain opened during the fire. some subway trains are bypassing the 34th street

station. we checked with new jersey transit and amtrak and those trains are running on a normal schedule. reports overnight indicate that search crews may have located the fuselage of airasia flight 8501. investigators believe it is where most of the 114 missing bodies could be located. divers have also retrieved a second black box in the wreckage. the cockpit voice recorder could shed clues about the final moments of the december 28th flight. investigators are trying now to download any and allies -- analyze the information. a driver is in the hospital after an oil truck overturned on i-295 in cherry hill. oil spilled onto the road near the route route 73 exit. hazardous materials respond to do contain the spill which blocked one lane of southbound traffic. the driver is listed in stable condition. police have not said what caused the driver to lose control of the truck.

>> gunfire rang out at a delaware apartment complex filled with families leaving two people dead and police trying to figure out who did the shooting and why. it happened at the vinings apartments in newark last night. one of the shooting victims died at the scene the other was rushed to christiana hospital where he later died. neighbors tell "action news" they heard numerous gun shots. >> i was watching tv and we muted the tv and we heard six more go off and i got six kids so i'm worried. >> residents also say this apartment complex has seen violence in the past including a stabbing and an attempted break in last year. police continue to sort this is one out. >> former sportscaster turned criminal defendant don tollefson is expected to be back on the stand today in his fraud trial. he's acting as his own attorney. the jump in the theft trial had to excuse the jury more than a half a dozen times to instruct him on court procedure and the rule of law. tollefson denies the charges that he scammed sports fans

out of more than $300,000 selling bogus travel packages. >> ♪♪ new on "action news," full day kindergarten could become the standard in the bethlehem area school district. administrators would like to implement the change and say there are several benefits. the plan was presented last night. right now the majority of kindergarten classes are half day. the superintendent says full day will help make sure students are as prepared as possible for first, second and third grades. the bethlehem area school board is expected to vote in two weeks on whether or not to implement the change next year. >> today it looks like temperatures have actually dipped since we went on the air at 4:30. >> they have and they're probably still on their way down a little bit before they start to turn around. storm tracker 6 live double scan right now shows you that we're dry so that's g as we take a look outside we have cloudy skies over the region although we are starting to see some breaks especially up north and eventually we're going get some sunshine in play. but it's not going to help much today as we are going to stay cold.

the current temperature is 32 degrees. we have hit the freezing mark in philadelphia. that means any leftover water along the sides of roadways or any moisture on sidewalks or side streets that wasn't already frozen may be freezing up now so be careful of those icy patches on foot and behind the wheel. winds have picked up to 22 miles per hour and we are looking at wind chills making it feel like it is in the teens and 20's and this is why. the winds are dropping right down out of the north this morning 10 miles per hour winds in allentown and reading, 18 in wilmington. it kind of fluctuates. you can sort of flip-flop these numbers all over the map as we go through the morning and afternoon. the bottom line is it's going to be windy and pretty cold today. clouds eroding off to the north over the last couple hours so we should see sunshine in play today. there won't be any precipitation but it will be on the cold side. 28 degrees by 8 o'clock. by 11 o'clock, 29 and notice how numbers just don't change that much today. we could get a high around 31 briefly at 2 o'clock but with those winds blowing and temperatures kind of settling on or about 30, it will feel like it's in the 20's

throughout the day. pretty uncomfortable out there and you'll want to bundle up. high afternoon temperatures, well in allentown 29, in cape may 35. everybody else somewhere in between. i will point out that these are afternoon highs even though the average or the official high of the day is that probably going to be maybe five or 6 degrees higher than these numbers. that's because between midnight and about two hours ago we were warmer than these numbers but i want to prepare you for what to expect the rest of the way dan that's about where you're going to be this afternoon. tomorrow similar today 32 degrees. we'll have increased clouds because of an area of low pressure which thankfully is staying off the coast. that means most of this precipitation stays off the coast. there's a possible flurry or maybe a little freezing drizzle down into southern delmarva or perhaps cape may county during the day but generally speaking it is dry and just cold. later on that high pressure center is going to come in and clear things outer and also help get us a little milder. your seven-day from accuweather brisk and cold today, a high of 31. tomorrow more clouds but similar overall with a high of 32. then on thursday afternoon it's still chilly but we improve to 37 and a better

afternoon on friday with that high of 40. that's right around average for this time of year so we're finally back up to around average on friday. for the weekend things look pretty good. sunny and milder on saturday, a high of 44. more clouds on sunday but staying dry. and a high all the way up to about 50. then a cold front gets through and for that martin luther king day we're back down to 39 for a high but frankly that's pretty much what you would expect this time of year and what we often get for our volunteer heavy afternoon and morning. a lot of people love to volunteer and they'll be able to do it in dry weather this year. >> thanks, david. >> thanks, david. >> 6:40 now. and the guy who went to great lengths to try and smuggle iphone 6's into china it's all new here. he thought strang them all over his body would help sneak away with the smartphones. >> clever guy. delta airlines flight was so delayed that by the time it took off there were only two passengers left to get on board. one man's story is next. karen. >> a lonely ride on the plane. that sounds pretty good. looking live in tacony.

head out this morning. good news, no precipitation. >> karen rogers what you got in traffic? >> well, we may not have precipitation but the trouble is we've got some icy patches here or there on the roads and we are seeing a number of accidents. here's the schuylkill expressway. you see the flashing lights up ahead. this is the schuylkill and this is the ramp here from belmont avenue to the schuylkill eastbound. we have an accident. penndot is on the scene. traffic is slowing past the z. now eastbound on the schuylkill you're kind of stop and go from the conshohocken curve to belmont. westbound you're jammed more so with your normal volume from past the boulevard to belmont right there. let's go to the big picture and talk bo some other problems in the area. that's the accident on the schuylkill where you see 13 miles an hour westbound past belmont at this point so a slow go there. in the wynnefield section we still have 57th street blocked and that's because of a water main break. so just watch for that if you're headed in that area. slow speeds on i-95 about 16 miles per hour southbound on i-95 southbound near girard, 27 miles an hour southbound near cottman. we have a couple of accidents

on the turnpike. past willow grove an accident involving a pickup truck that reportedly ran into the guardrail. it's blocking the right lane so causing some slowing on the turnpike eastbound here. in chester county, a couple of accidents going on. turnpike eastbound another one on the turnpike near downingtown. that's a tractor-trailer accident that has been out there off to the shoulder and one in tredyffrin and we're hearing that it might be a taxicab that a ran into a digit there are slick spots a-number of accidents that one on contention lane at berwyn baptist road so a few things to watch out for. temperature-wise we're below freezing in philadelphia now sitting at the freezing mark but most of the suburbs allentown just 23. 25 in reading, 33 in wilmington and millville. 30 degrees right now in trenton and when you factor in a wind that's picking up a little bit feels like it's just in the teens in some spots. feels like 12 degrees in allentown, two in mount pocono and 20 in the city, matt. >> thanks camp. new this morning a hong kong man was arrested with 94 iphone 6's strapped to his body.

customs police say he was trying to smuggle the phones through a port in china. police became suspicious when they noticed him walking around very stiffly. they checked the bags law carrying. nothing was inside them but then the meted at a detectors went off. iphone smuggling is rampant in china where they are harder for consumers to obtain. >> a juvenile court's unusual punishment for some students in georgia who kept jaywalking has some people talking. this is dangerous intersection is adjacent to a high school. most kids jaywalk across the five lane road. now when they're ticketed for jaywalking the court has ordered the kids to pay a fine visit a funeral home and write their own mock obituary for their parents in hopes of letting the risks sink in. >> and this is new. the guy who was the envy of anyone who found themselves packed like sardine on a commercial flight. chris o'leary took himself on a picture of the new york to denver flight.
