avoid brookhaven road altogether, stick to providence road or rose valley drive to avoid the problem that matt and tam. >> thank you karen. we begin with breaking news. fire crews battling fire and freezing temperatures while rescuing several people from an apartment building overnight. annie mccormick has been live on the scene in whitemarsh township montgomery county and it sounds like a terrifying night for people in that building, annie reporter: yeah, terrifying night for at least a dozen people who were rescued by firefighters. we're learning new information at this hour, tam. in fact, three people were transported to abington hospital. we were told they have nonlife-threatening injuries but authorities tell me one of those people were taken to temple hospital because they were suffering smoke inhalation. take a look behind me. this is the scene right now as firefighters still remain on the scene and crews still out here. i'm also just learning that a number of those people who have been displaced that were staying in a nearby building that was not affected during the fire will now be moved to a hot t well, let's now take a
look at the video of this blaze that broke out just before 1:00 a.m. this all happened in the 400 block of south bethlehem pike in whitemarsh township at the washington towers apartment complex. firefighters focused on the second and third floors of the four-story building. they also found fire in the rear of the building. now, there are reports of at least a dozen rescues made by both firefighters and also a police officer that was on the scene. this man who lives in the apartment complex, explained to us what he saw. >> fire started at the end over there and it was engulfed in flames. they're just right now getting it under control. firemen been up there all night shooting water out the windows. had to evacuate the entire building. it's actually the second time in two months there's been a fire at this building. >> reporter: and back out here live again you can still see that there is activity here that a number of those people are displaced at this
time. again, the red cross telling us earlier that those people will be staying in a nearby building on the same complex but now we're being told by authorities that they are going to be moved to a hotel. again, as far as injuries go, we are told that no firefighters were injured. one thing that we're told, also is that there was a police officer that was also getting assisted by residents to help some of those people get out of the building. in fact, he used his police cruiser to help people jump out of the buildings. we're told that there's even dents in that cruiser. also one young family explaining their story to us including what a little girl had to say about her brave jump that she took to take to safety. more on that in the next half hour. for now reporting live from whitemarsh township, annie mccormick, channel6 "action news." >> first responders being here rows. thanks so much annie. developing now the deadline is nearing to save two hostages being held by isis. the terror group is threatening to kill a japanese man an jordanian pilot in just a few hours from now unless jordan frees a female terror
suspect linked to a deadly 2005 attack. secret talks have been held in jordan in an attempt to free the men. the mother of the japanese hostage is appealing publically to that country's prime minister to save her son. the philadelphia inexpected general's office has reportedly finished an investigation into reports of sexual activity involving a female paramedic and a number of male firefighters. there are claims that the activity occurred while the participants were on duty at several fire stations. police say there is insufficient cause to launch a criminal investigation but the city can take disciplinary action and recommend changes to fire station protocol. police in trenton, new jersey, are looking for a murder suspect. the killer shot a man in the chest along the 200 block of pearl street last night. the victim was taken to saint francis medical center where he died. police are also looking for a motive for the shooting. >> the papers have been filed that could send eric frein to death row. the d.a. in pike county has formally notified the court that he will seek the death

to the northeast and cloud cover out to the west by pittsburgh eroding because of dry air dropping down out of canada so it will be bright, definitely sun glass weather if you're behind the wheel after sunrise. 28 by 11 o'clock. still sunny by 2 o'clock when we hit our high of 32. i think we'll still be on 32 probably by 3 o'clock and then by 5 o'clock we're down to 30 and feeling like it's in the 20's even at the best of times. high temperatures a little cooler up north. allentown is only getting to about 28. 29 in reading and trenton and 36 in cape may and atlantic city. tomorrow we start out with some sunshine but clouds grow as the day goes on. and then late in the day and evening we'll be looking for a quick hit of snow passing through for a time. probably during the evening hours for the most part. and doesn't look like this is necessarily going to provide a lot of snow. the models right now all going under an inch. i could see anywhere from a coating to an inch or more. it's mainly on thursday neither. then a few flurries around on friday. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, sunny and brisk today 32. sun to clouds on thursday, 35. and you just saw that little
hit of snow at night. windy with some flurries on friday 38 degrees. could be some sprinkles mixed in as the temperatures rise. that high temperature is likely kind of early in the day and then we'll see those numbers drop into the afternoon. and we go all the way down to 11 at night which means on saturday morning if you have something planned with the kids, maybe a sporting event or something like that, bundle up getting into the car because 11 degrees at sunrise and a high of only 24 in the afternoon. on sunday, sun gives way to clouds, it's still cold with a high of 33. and late in the day or at night there could be a wintry mix arriving and that carries into monday. and of course monday's high gets well above freezing so at some point most of us are going to see rain but at times there will be some snow and sleet mixing in, maybe a little icing and then some rain as well. >> something to watch. >> yeah. >> thanks, david. 5:40 now. next we have newly released dash cam video of a handcuffed woman leading police on a high speed chase in one of their vehicles. >> the philadelphia auto show shifts into high gear this weekend. ducis rodgers gives us a look at some of the new options look at that that will have you taking your hands off the
