humidity today before things start to settle down a little bit at least with the temperatures. we are looking at some low lying cloud cover around the region this morning. i think we're going to see a mix of clouds and sun and there is that shower and thunderstorm activity well to the north and west later this afternoon and this evening there's a possibility that we start to see some of that especially out in the northern and western suburbs. 76 degrees and dry in philadelphia right now. you can still see that general flow in the atmosphere coming up from the humid south. so, it's still pretty sticky out there. 74 in allentown, 76 in wilmington, 72 in trenton, 76 in cape may. these numbers this morning a little bit warmer than they were this time yesterday and we're still looking at very noticeable humidity. look at all these dewpoints in the 70's. that is oppressive humidity. even up in allentown and reading, pretty darn humid this morning and staying that way today. on the way out to the bus you're going feel about 72 in the air in philadelphia by 6 o'clock, 75, by eight, warm, humid, some clouds still in play as we go through the morning rush hour and then 75 degrees by 8 o'clock. by noon, 85 and it's another

cooker today. 91 by 3 o'clock and we'll see a high of 92 probably late in the day around 4 o'clock. by 5, 6 o'clock a couple showers and thunderstorms will be popping and i'll show that to you on future tracker6 along with heavier rain coming tomorrow. karen. >> all right, dave, we're looking live on i-95. this is southbound between street road and woodhaven and you can see the construction crews right now penndot is out here, they're backing up, looks like they're in the process of picking up the cones and moving out of here so i-95 southbound was scheduled to clear this construction at 5:00 a.m. but looks like the guys are out there hard at work and in the process of clearing out a little early to get you going. the northbound on-ramp from cottman continues to be blocked until 5:00 a.m. watch for that construction but we already saw on 95 they're trying to wrap up that work for you this morning. looking on the big picture right here, i-95 northbound to 676 we've got that construction as well until 5:00 a.m. and in pennsauken new jersey the water main break continues on 130 southbound. the right lane blocked right near route 90 so that has been

continuing to impact you there in pension salk ken, new jersey. on the turnpike crews are out there, they're hard at work. eastbound they're blocking the right lane on the pennsylvania turnpike between fort washington and willow grove. construction also restricting a lane on the turnpike westbound between virginia drive and norristown so no big weather related problems but the crews are out there hard at work early this morning. matt and tam. >> thank you karen. happening today, tickets for both the papal mass and the festival of families will be made available. now both will happen during that weekend that pope francis will be here in philadelphia. "action news" reporter katherine scott is joining us live from the ben franklin parkway. she's got more details. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. that's right, these are two major events while the pope is in town. the tickets are first come first served four per person and when these events happen both will be taking place on the ben franklin parkway. this parkway will be crowded with people. the festival of families which will feature a concert and appearance by the pope takes place that saturday and of course there's a papal mass

from the steps of the art museum. later today more free tickets will be made available to two papal events. first, at 4:00 p.m. today, 10,000 tickets will be released for the festival of families which takes place saturday the twenty sixth on the ben franklin parkway. then this evening at 8:00 p.m., 10,000 tickets will be made available for the papal mass on sunday the 27th. also on the parkway. yesterday 10,000 tickets to see the pope at independence mall were snatched up in less than two minutes. soon, what were free tickets were found for sale on ebay and craigslist. some as high as a thousand dollars. >> i think it stinks, it stinks. this is for everybody to have an opportunity. >> not in the spirit of the visit but what are you going to do? i mean, that's free enterprise, right. >> reporter: ebay says this is against their policy and they will remove the posts. then there's devon a robin hood of sorts when it comes to papal visits.

families and papal visit. septa expanding the number of stations it will keep open during the pope's visits. trains will make stops in center city which will get pilgrims closer to the festival grounds. the market frankford el will stop at eighth and market and the broad street line will stop at the walnut locust station. service will be running inbound and outbound all day. we are compiling all of our coverage of the papal visit on a special section of our web site, 6abc.com/pope. including details about those new septa service plans and the ticket release for the events on the parkway today. >> and this story is developing this morning. it was a deadly turn about for a would be robber in delaware county. this happened just before 1:00 this morning on seventh street in chester. police say the person targeted managed to shoot and kill the suspected robber. the alleged robber ran towards concorde avenue where he collapsed and was pronounced dead. the victim was not seriously injured. he has been taken in for police questioning. and new this morning, monroe township police and the

gloucester county prosecutors office were on the scene of a shooting. it happened just after 11 o'clock last night on the 600 block of iron wood drive. one person was shot in the shoulder and rushed to the hospital and police are still trying to figure out who did the shooting and why. >> and we are here at the big board and this is exactly what happened to a british airways flight that was about to take off from las vegas yesterday. you can seem the flames and smoke shooting from the side of the jet. this forced passengers to escape on the emergency slide. now, this is a photograph taken by a philadelphia woman who was charging her cell phone waiting at the gate for her flight. now take a listen to the emergency calls made from the cockpit. >> mayday, mayday. >> again, you can see the billowing black smoke and orange flames pouring from under plane's wing. it was the left and gin of the

plane plane that caught fire. there were 157 passengers and crew members on board this plane bound for london. it took 50 firefighters to douse the aircraft but they had this under control in just minutes. now, fire officials said 14 people were taken to a hospital by early tuesday evening for minor injuries, most of those injuries were a result of sliding down those inflatable chutes to escape the burning flight. some flights from vegas were delayed for more than two hours. right now the cause of the fire is under investigation. matt. >> thank you, erin. happening today, a philadelphia police officer who was killed by hit and run driver will be laid to rest. lamar poole's viewing and funeral service begins at 9:00 this morning at first district plaza on the 3800 block of market street. burial follows at green mount cemetery on front street. the 12th district officer spent 19 years on the force. a driver struck pool while he was riding his motorcycle on devereaux avenue. louis john vogwill is under

arrest. a hearing is scheduled for lyndon weston. prosecutors say weston and others kidnapped mentally disabled adults torturing and enslaving them in a home in the city's tacony section to steal their government benefit checks. the victims were moved to several states to keep the ruse going. weston was that charged with two counts of murder in the deaths of two women in 2005 and 2008. one of those women lived in the so-called house of horrors. >> it is 4:39. still to come on "action news," authorities in mercer county are trying to figure out what happened after a woman who had been missing for a week was found alive in dense woods. >> now that children are back in school, they are letting the dogs out and into a public pool in tennessee. david. >> we are dressing the kids. it's another good day for shorts and t's especially after school. of course if you've got a school uniform kids, you got wear that. i got a real interesting facebook message from a viewer that was funny yesterday. grandson didn't want to wear anything but shorts and t's because -- it's a long story. anyway, hot and humid again.

tennessee ready for the dog days of summer. for three dollars owners can allow their pups to enjoy the cool water. easy access in and out of the water you see. they put a little stoop there. >> nice. >> david sounds like today you would want to get in there with those pups. >> yeah, maybe. it's another hot and humid one out there. things are going the change before too much longer, though. storm tracker6 live double scan right now shows you that we are dry going into our morning commute and as we take a look outside, we have a little bit of maybe haze down therer some low lying cloud cover in the lights in atlantic city but generally speaking we are looking at a morning of mid level to low clouds and we're going to transition to that clouds and sun mix a little bit later on. 76 degrees is your current temperature in philadelphia. your dewpoint is way up there at 72. that is oppressive humidity especially as you get out and start moving around and that sun starts hitting you or at we start to raise those

temperatures. winds out of the south at 9 miles per hour. future tracker6 showing you how we'll have that low lying cloud cover around with sunny mix through most of the day and then by the time we get up to about two or 3 o'clock this afternoon, there's the chance every now and then of a little pop-up shower or maybe even a thunderstorm. we're mostly dry, though, at 3 o'clock and the best chance of anything popping this afternoon is probably to the north of philadelphia and through the northern suburbs. by 6 o'clock again not a lot happening but an isolated shower or thunderstorm possible. and later on pretty much the same story. most of the action to the north and west. hot conditions today, though. that's going to be the big story for most of you. 75 degrees by 8 o'clock, 82 by 11 o'clock, 90 by 2 o'clock and that's your high today, 92. we'll probably get that rather late in the day around 4 o'clock before sliding back to 90 by 5 o'clock and again an isolated pop-up shower or thunderstorm possible later in the afternoon or evening. very humid out there today. high temperatures across the region, how about 90 in allentown, 91 in reading, trenton and wilmington.

in the 80's through much of south jersey and down the shore mid 80's today. slight chance of a rip current however so be careful if you are lingering near the water. for the phillies tonight it looks like it's going to be warm and humid. lots of clouds around. a thunderstorm can't be ruled out. 84 for the first pitch. 79 in the ninth inning and it will still be humid tonight for the phils and braves. thursday, well, this is going to be the day of change for us. the high is only going to be 82. a frontal boundary is going to start marching through the region. but this is going to bring at times some heavy downpour producing showers and thunderstorms. we're looking at one to 2-inches of rain. some of these thunderstorms could be gusty especially south and east of philadelphia. so, you know, it looks like tomorrow we're going to get that much needed rain. now the model doesn't have a whole lot going on in the morning. i will allow for something happening during our morning broadcast this morning but looks like there's a better chance after about noon to 1 o'clock of starting to develop some of thee showers and thunderstorms and then you can see how they start to fill in by 3 o'clock. kids might need an umbrella on

interview at the location of your choice. then those interviews will get going between 8 o'clock and 11 o'clock this morning. if you're looking for a job we say good luck. wall street is hoping stocks will keep up the rally today after a big post holiday rebound yesterday. the dow gained more than 390 points and i was the other major indices also post-ed gains as well. right now i just checked markets a short while ago and looks as though they are pointing to a higher open. and the latest iphone the 6s should take a bow today. investors again seem to be impressed with this. shares of apple have fallen 6 percent in the months leading up to today's events and that's kind of distorted because this is the first time they've seen the stock drop on the verge of a launch event since apple started doing them back in 2007. >> usually it's buy the rumor, sell the news. maybe it will be reverse. we'll see. 4:48. coming up this morning, the latest on the european refugee crisis. secretary of state john kerry plans to brief lawmakers today about how the u.s. can help. >> a baltimore city board

blocking the right lane. all lanes opened westbound so that's some good news. yesterday nonetheless we had a mess trying to come in from the city on the ben franklin bridge. so, so far so good but it's ridiculously early so that's why it's so good. 202 northbound ramp to i-95 northbound construction going on blocking one lane. it continues to be blocked so watch for that one on the ramp. also crews out here on the turnpike expected to clear at 5:00 a.m. but they're still blocking the left lane eastbound is the right lane between fort washington and willow grove, westbound is the left lane between virginia drive and norristown. so construction crews out there. we've got a roving crew. we can see it right here on the boulevard southbound as you approach the schuylkill. they're blocking the right lane so look for them to be out there hard at work this morning. matt and tam. >> okay, thank you so much, karen. happening today, secretary of state john kerry will be on capitol hill. he'll be talking about america's role in dealing with the syrian refugee crisis. kerry will tell lawmakers how many migrants the white house thinks the u.s. should take in. currently the u.s. accepts

1500 syrian refugees every year. that's a small fraction of the number now pouring into europe. in fact, 42,000 refugees are expected to flood into hungary in just over the next 10 days. and in two weeks pope francis is expected to bring up the migrant crisis when he meets with the president at the white house. a baltimore board that oversees city spending will meet today and that board needs to approve the settlement that the family of freddie gray has reached with the city of baltimore. gray died from injuries he received whilely in police custody back in april. that agreement will pay gray's family $6.4 million. a criminal case is still under way against the six baltimore p police officers involved in gray's death. >> from our new jersey news room a judicial ruling that rejected sports betting in the garden state is now being appealed. a new jersey thoroughbred horse man's association filed the appeal yesterday along with the state with the third circuit court in philadelphia. the court panel had ruled against the law two to one.

like cal claude is accused of breaking into laurel middle school in sussex county on monday. they say the 19-year-old put on someone's letterman jacket and took a ride on a buffing machine. the fun came to an end when claude got stuck in the school's elevator so he called 911 for help. police came to the rescue and charged him with burglary, criminal mischief and theft. >> new this morning, an indiana woman created a contest to win her riverfront home. the home sits along the ohio river. the homeowners tried doing this the traditional way but there didn't seem to be a lot of interso now they're trying to drum some up. you can enter with $199 and an essay. the essay has to be 200 words or less on why you should own the river house. they're looking to get in at least 2,000 entries and each entry fee will go into an escrow account. >> hoping that one lucky person will win this house and make a difference in their life. it is a million dollar view, at the rock bottom price of
