it was not easy. with more on the story, good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, matt and tam, it was not easy. there are a lot of closures in effect. a lot to keep in mind as you head out. we're at broad and vine. you can see broad is closed at vine street. all the fencing is in the streets here. you can walk through. pedestrians have been going in on the sidewalk. you can see vehicles cannot get through broad at vine. vine street is already closed. there's a lot to keep in mind tu head out the door -- as you head out the door. the pope arrives tomorrow, and last night 8-foot security fences were put up. concrete barriers were moved into place. 6:00 a.m., areas west of 12th street to 20th will be open to pedestrians only. they will have to go through metal detecters.

the city itself doesn't shut down until 10:00 p.m. tonight. you have until 10:00 p.m. tonight to use the schuylkill expressway or the ben franklin bridge. westbound traffic coming into the city moving fine to problems, closing at 10:00 p.m. tonight until noon until monday. a lot of people are asking me can i take the walt whitman bridge? yes, the walt whitman bridge is open. don't hop on the schuylkill expressway because it will be shut down. the i-95, ben franklin bridge, burlington bristol bridge remaining open. the schuylkill expressway eastbound 10:00 p.m. will shut down it went blue route and i-95. westbound shut down between i-95 and route 1. through the weekend starting saturday morning, southbound between bell month and lancaster avenue will be shut down northbound between route 30 and the schuylkill expressway. in new jersey, the admiral wilson boulevard will be shut down leading to the ben franklin bridge.
