current temperature, wind are light. if you're heading out to get the cargoing and getting back to work today. partly cloudy and cool, 62 by 6:00 a.m., 63 by 8:00 a.m. it may feel humid this morning, that's part of the afternoon call. 78 by noon, high of 83 about 3:00 p.m., the humidity levels are going to be going up in the afternoon, it will feel more humid. looks like we've got much-needed rain on the way in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. karen rogers i'll cover that story in a second. >> reporter: it is nice to see the schuylkill expressway back open, the crews worked very hard through the night. schuylkill expressway opened in both directions. you can see the flashing lights, because the ramps are shut down. the off-ramps are shut down, the on-ramps are open. it's a process they are working on it. the on-ramp to 30th street is

shut down. 676 in new jersey and the admiral wilson boulevard open. not only the ben, but the highways leading to the ben have reopened through the overnight hours and looking good, all the area bridges showing no problems. the vine street expressway is open. when i talked to the pennsylvania state police, the off-ramps are close the. the vine itself is open, they don't want people taking a ramp and bump into the people who are trying to clean up. the so-called traffic box area we have a quarter of it that has yet to open. we'll talk about the mass transit implications coming up. >> the benjamin franklin parkway cleanup is underway, some say it could take a week. let's see how it's going so far with katherine scott on the

parkway. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: go to work, matt and tam, crews have been working since the papal event ended. it took a week to put it up, and now you can see they are still work. there's remnants of the event on the parkway. jumbotrons, pallets of water. down the street that's where a security checkpoint was, the metal detecters are no longer there, but there's a lot of debris in the street and a lot of that needs to be cleared. crews around center city all the security fencing that went up, now must come down, they have to take down all the barriers from the weekend. as that is happening they will see more and more roads opening back up, some are open, but there's a lot of ground to cover. penndot was able to reopen 76 last night. the vine street expressway is open, but ramps are closed. there's trash pick up that needs

to be done around the area. there's a lot of debris left behind from the crowds. hundreds of thousands packed the parkway, with so many people that means a lot of stuff left behind. by way of traffic we're seeing forklifts driving along the parkway. every now and then a car comes through, if you do come through here, use extreme caution. crews are working in the area. there's stuff in the roads. it's not ready for traffic to be fully open. overnight they have made a lot of progress, but still a lot of work left to do. live along the parkway, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> good news the ben franklin bridge is open again after being only a pedestrian walkway all weekend for the pilgrims coming to see pope francis. trish hartman is live at the base of the bridge on the philadelphia side. hi, trish. >> reporter: hi, there, matt and tam, that's right, the ben franklin bridge is open and a

few hours ahead of schedule many drivers will be happy about that. take a look at the bridge behind me, you can see the trucks and cars coming from new jersey on the philadelphia side, of course. officers say it officially opened at 2:00 a.m., it was going to open at 4:00 a.m., it opened at 2:00 a.m. many folks making the walk over the ben it turned into a walkway through the papal visit. the accelerated opening of the ben franklin bridge should allow for a normal commute for those getting to, work. all the major highways leading to the ben franklin bridge are open. officials said they planned to open the bridge always quickly as possible after the pope's visit. as for septa, regional rails are operating on a saturday schedule, keep that in mind you want to check that.

patco is using a special schedule. if you use the ben or any major bridges they are open this morning. live on the ben franklin bridge, trish hartman. >> now, pope francis has landed in rome, when he left the parkway yesterday his motorcade made a stop in the place that was close to his heart. he stopped at the knot the grotto people tied more than 100 thousands strips of paper to the grotto that bear the troubles for those who wrote them. they are requests for help from the virgin mary the undoer of knots. >> he asked us to pray for him, and, of course, we asked him to pray for us and bless the knots. >> an excited group of volunteers and joseph university watched the pope and eager to show us all the cell phone pictures they took of him.

head to for a complete wrap up of the papal events and all the rest of the traffic restrictions are lifted. >> new on "action news," homeland security is involved in an investigation dealing with two suspicious men arrested during the pope's visit. police say the men were impersonating national guardsman they were arrested at 34th and bearing streets yesterday afternoon. police searched their vehicle. no word if they found any suspicious items. we'll follow this story as more info comes in. >> we got through the mass no rain. how about today. >> reporter: today mainly dry, tomorrow a different story, especially wednesday. storm tracker 6 live double scan we're dry for the early morning commute. as we look outside we're taking a look live for the parkway studio i guess is what we were calling it up in the embassy suites looking down toward the parkway. the papal stage they are getting

that undone for you. gradually we're seeing improvement across the region of all the formerly shut roads. 64 degrees in allentown. 635 in trenton. 62 in wilmington. down the shore, 67 in cape may. it's a cool morning, but not too bad. temperatures running milder than yesterday. as for rain we're mainly clouds and sunny breaks. every now and then, though by 2:30 you see a pop-up sprinkle or shower. if you do see something it's nothing more than light nuisance stuff nothing to alter your plans. it will be warm in the lehigh valley, it will feel humid. down the shore, humid, high of 77 degrees. there are rip currents in the water not only today and the next several days, off-season swimming not a good idea with no lifeguards around. feeling muggy in philadelphia

especially in the afternoon and # 3 is the high. feeling like summer after school. 63 degrees by 8:00 a.m. if you have outdoor exercises getting done, get it in by 8:00 a.m. you're in good shape. 11:00 a.m., 74 degrees, we spend the highs in the 80s, 83 around 3:00 p.m. we get into tomorrow, tuesday morning might have sprinkles and light showers to show you on storm tracker 6 live tomorrow morning. you can see how we get into the afternoon and there could heavier cells and more of that by 6:00 a.m. and then you roll overnight and into wednesday morning that's when we are going to start to get inundated with steadier rain. we needed this stuff, but that will not make for a good wednesday morning commute. the question is how long do we deal with this, most of wednesday is kind of wet. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast high of 83 today, warm and muggy, a sprinkle here and there, mainly dry. tomorrow cloudy skies a better chance of a shower around

flonase, this changes everything. >> 4:44, looks like i-95 is closed because nobody is on it, yes, there are cars on it, but it never closed, but it was impacted. things are slowly returning to normal, more than we expect the. that's so far so good this monday morning. >> it's looking good, karen. >> reporter: we anticipated that it would be a nightmare with the traffic. many stayed off the roads and the crews worked hard to open early. the admiral wilson boulevard is open, 676 northbound is reopened, leading to the ben franklin bridge which opened earlier than expected. it wasn't expected to open until today at noon. they worked hard and they got out here and we're seeing people enjoying the ride on the ben franklin bridge. things are going well around the region. regional rails are on on a

saturday schedule. i got off the phone with septa, they are up early and working through the night. i don't think they ever went home. the only difficulty is with the buses where you have the benjamin franklin parkway shut down. they will be detoured. they are in the process of getting everything running back on the regular schedule. things are moving better less detours than yesterday. if you're traveling around, we have .3 vis -- visibility in toms river. 3 in millville. 8 in philadelphia. .3 in poconos. 61 in quakertown, mild. 66 degrees in center city. 64 in glassboro. 63 in dover, delaware. as you head out today, 83, sunny breaks, warm and muggy today, tam.

new on "action news," a 13-year-old is dead after a freak accident involving a forklift in philadelphia's wissinoming section. police say the incident happened on the 5100 block of conley street. the teen was playing on the forklift when he was crushed to death. no word if anyone will be charged with the teen's death. a 5th person has died after being injured in a duck boat collision in seattle. a potentially dangerous failure point in the duck boat's axle involved in 2013, but did not have it fixed. the owner of the duck boat company suspended operations until all the vehicles have been inspected. >> portions of a backdropped collapsed at a campaign event

for carly fiorina. she was speaking in san antonio when the line of curtains fell. the incident drew screams from the crowd, but nobody was hurt. another political outsider continues to gain ground on donl donl -- donald trump in the policy. balloting out for third place, marko rubio and carly fiorina. the hillary clinton leads bernie sanders by just 7 points. a family from pope francis' hometown traveled 13,000 miles to see him in philadelphia. they got the meeting of a lifetime. take a look at the snapshot of pope francis embracing the children. the pontiff spent the time with the family. the family spent 6 months driving up in their 1980 volkswagen van. it broke down several times that's what happens in a

the on-ramp is open. the schuylkill expressway is open in both directions, the vine is on the part of, the ben is open, the big picture looking good. >> reporter: 9:00 a.m. we're in the low 60s. this afternoon it will be warm and humid. 78 degrees by noon, 83 is the high and 77 at 6:00 p.m. as we take a look at the wide view if you're flying, perhaps home from the papal visit to the midwest or west. not a whole lot of issues, chicago looks good, florida mainly dry, there's speckled precipitation down through atlanta and new orleans. there could be spots where you run into a delay later. our most commonly traveled destinations it's all green aircraft and atlanta is reporting rain. reality star has gone home to recover from a mini stroke.
