morning you'll be chilly out there. temperatures just in the 40's in that spots, low 40's at that. quakertown dipped to 43 degrees this morning, 45 in fleetwood, 46 pottstown, 43 in kennett square and saint davids. you're a little better in center city, 54 degrees. 46 in ewing and browns mills, only 45 right now in hammonton, 48 glassboro, 48 dover delaware. lots of sunshine. satellite6 and action radar showing nothing going on. we've got clear skies. we're going to sea bright sunshine coming your way this afternoon. it's really going to be pretty. so, by 9:00 a.m., 56 degrees, lots of sunshine. by noon, 67, warming up nice technological. you're into the 70's for the first time in a little bit. by 3:00 p.m. 73. by 6:00 p.m., 72 coming down from your high of 73. temperatures little bit above average. we are tracking some rain in the seven-day forecast though. details on that in the seven day coming up, matt. >> i bet your kids would love to camp out. that's an idea for tonight, karen rogers. >> i'm sure they would. >> we'll see how that went tomorrow morning. good morning to you, good morning, everybody. we're live here in bucks

county along i-95 southbound lanes approaching 413, there's still some late running construction out here taking out the right lane and you can see people coming southbound through bristol township are starting to tap the brakes as they funnel into that left lane to get by the work zone headed toward 413 and woodhaven road. farther south overnight work by girard avenue has cleared but on the northbound side they're still wrapping things up between the vine and girard. they have reopened the ramp from the northbound side at cottman avenue. there was a ton of construction overnight. we also had several accidents including one involving a police cruiser in southwest philadelphia, bartram at holstein. i'm hearing that just cleared out. as did the one in upper providence along 29, collegeville road at park avenue by the sovereign bank but we still have one on 422 westbound approaching armand hammer boulevard causing a little slowing there because a lane is blocked and one more crash is in cape may county southbound lanes of the garden state parkway at north wildwood. again, one lane out of commission in that neck of the woods. nydia. >> matt, thank you.

developing overnight, police are investigating a deadly double shooting in north philadelphia. the action cam was on the scene in the 2600 block of north eighth street. police say two men were hit by gunfire around 2:00 a.m. one victim died at the scene, the other is in critical condition. witnesses tell police they saw people running away toward west lehigh avenue but it's still unclear who shot the men or why. detectives are focusing their investigation around a car parked near the scene. this is also new. two philadelphia police officers have been injured in a crash. their vehicle hit a tree in southwest philadelphia at bartram avenue and holstein causing heavy front end damage. one officer suffered a broken leg. doctors treated the other officer for minor injuries. police blame a mechanical failure for the crash. >> it is now 5:32 and this morning a three-year-old boy is fighting for his life in the hospital. he was hit by a car but what happened next had some neighbors rushing to help the driver who hit him. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is live outside of saint christopher's hospital where the young victim was

taken. good morning, erin. >> reporter: good morning, tam. and the hope is that the great teams, medical teams here at saint christopher's hospital will be able to help this little three-year-old boy survive those life-threatening injuries he suffered after he was hit by a car last night in the city's logan section. and what adds to tragedy is that the driver who police say did the right thing by stopping was then attacked by a group of men. >> i turned back around. i just seen a little boy flying up going underneath the car. >> reporter: neighbors tried to console each other after watching the unthinkable happen a little boy darted out between two cars on 13th and wagner. >> he was struck by the vehicle and knocked under the suv. >> reporter: the driver of the gray mazda hatchback stopped to check on the boy. but was then assaulted by a group of men. >> in this case this guy, it was an accident, he did the right thing, he stopped but was assaulted by an unknown

persons. >> reporter: some neighbors came to the remorseful man's rescue and placed him in their vehicle until police arrived. >> he was kind of shooken up. he was. he was really shooken up. he was scared. i guess, you know, the little boy was real little. he was like i didn't really see him. i'm sorry. >> reporter: and witnesses told "action news" that they really believe that accident was unavoidable, that that little boy just started into the street. neighbors have identified him as donnell banks. again, he is in very critical condition so our thoughts are with him and his family and we'll keep you updated on his condition throughout the morning. for now we're live outside saint christopher's hospital, erin o'hearn channel6 "action news." back to you. >> erin thank you for. a deadly collision with a septa bus remains under investigation. chopper six was over the scene on penn street in philadelphia's frankford section last night. police say the driver of an suv was killed after rear ending the route 75 trolley bus. a passenger in the suv is in critical condition. 19 people on the bus including the driver suffered minor

injuries. >> and an attempted traffic stop on the schuylkill expressway ended with a chase and a crash. the suspect's get away ended when his car hit a pole at 34th and mantua last night. police say the driver then got out and punched a trooper. the trooper then tased and arrested him. the suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. the passenger in the car took off from the crash site and has not been captured. >> police are searching for a 16-year-old reportedly connected to a murder in coatesville this past weekend. it's the city's first homicide in nearly three years. four other men ranging from 17 to 21 are already in custody. police say the suspects decided to rob another group of men. the victims were outside a home in the 100 block of fourth avenue when the suspects approached them and began to pat them down for valuables. police say chris mansfield punched one of the victims in the head while dajon rowe allegedly shot two men. one of them was killed. >> new this morning, a montgomery county hospital has settled with the federal government for allegedly turning away an hiv positive

patient. federal prosecutors claim mercy suburban hospital in east norriton refused the patient without evaluation or treatment because she is hiv positive. she was denied bariatric surgery. the hospital has agreed to pay the woman $20,000 and pay the government a $5,000 civil penalty. mercy has also agreed to implement a nondiscrimination policy. >> president obama has signed a disaster declaration for the areas of south carolina hit the hardest by the historic rains. residents wiped out or displaced by the deadly flooding will receive money for things like temporary housing. drinking water has been contaminated for tens of thousands of people. and so far the death toll in the carolinas is at least 12. access points to entire towns have been cut off by collapsed roads making rescue possible only by air. >> what we got on us now is all we own. >> got to start all back over nikki haley the governor warns

residents are not out of the woods because the rain has stopped. the threat of flooding remains. >> our weather has taken a turn for the better to the great. >> i know. we're done with our coastal flooding now. we continue to be dry and now things are getting even a little bit warmer so i'm just full of good news today. >> you are. >> storm tracker6 live double scan around the region we're dry. we're looking good out there. let's go outside. we want to see what it looks like. we've got clear skies. i was doing a little star gazing early this morning and why not, it's really a gorgeous start to the day although it is quite cool in some spots. look at these numbers. 52 degrees right now in philadelphia but in a lot of the suburbs you're just in the low 40's starting you out this morning. so, a chilly start. the dewpoint 45 degrees. the winds out of the north, a cool breeze but only at 7 miles an hour, not like the gusty winds we had over the weekend. barometric pressure is falling and we have our always on day planner to help you figure out what your day is going to look like. we've got clear skies and that means bright sunshine is going the fill in this afternoon.

a nice day ahead. if you are at the shore, mostly sunny skies. we've been watching for the possibility of some patchy fog. not seeing it just yet so looking pretty good. it's 70 degrees for your high at the shore. temperatures will be a little bit above average today. in the lehigh valley also hitting about 70. it is a chilly start and the the lehigh valley we are in particular in the low 40's this morning but mostly sunny skies and feeling really nice this afternoon with that abundant sunshine. 73 for your high in the city today. temperatures a few degrees above average by 8:00 a.m., wall to wall sunshine and 52. by 11:00 a.m., 65 degrees. really jumping up there and in the afternoon hours in the low 70's. yesterday we were stuck in the 60's so this is a nice change for us. by 2:00 p.m., 71 degrees. by 5:00 p.m., 72 coming down from your high of 73. the low stays down to our south. hurricane joaquin still a hurricane but a good 650 miles off the coastline obviously not impacting us today and just churning out to sea so mostly sunny skies, back to the 70's. tomorrow high pressure settles in even more. we warm things up a little

bit. 76 degrees for your high tomorrow so if you have any outdoor plans, pumpkin picking with the kids, whatever it is, tomorrow might be a particularly good day to do it. let's take a look at your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast. turning warmer today, 73 degrees for your high. really a beautiful afternoon after a chilly start. and then tomorrow nice and sunny. the morning hours won't be quite as cold as this morning and the afternoon even warmer, 76 degrees so really the pick of the week. on thursday mostly sunny skies, 73 degrees,. our nice streak continues. by friday we have mostly cloudy skies. we may start off with a little bit of a shower in the morning for your morning commute and then the rain develops in the afternoon and evening so it's going to be wet, it's going to be rather light rain, though, 74. the weekend looking pretty good after saturday morning. saturday we start with clouds, maybe a little leftover shower and then some sunshine fills in in the afternoon, 66. by sunday, though, mostly sunny skies, a little on the cool side but nice for the eagles game, 68 degrees. and monday partly sunny skies, also nice and 68 degrees. got a little something for

woods. this is 95 northbound side approaching the blue route. although as we're watching here, i am starting to see a jam in those northbound lanes passing the blue route, 476. not sure exactly why but we'll be keeping tabs on this. a northbound delay forming. although it doesn't look too bad as you pass the blue route but the off ramp to the northbound side of the blue route that was closed overnight is reopened. so, we'll be watching that situation in delco. we're also watching an overnight crash. if you're out and about on route one baltimore pike by britton's lake you probably don't want to get on 322 eastbound because at foulk road 261 there's a crash that brought down a pole. namaans creek road to the south is going to be a better bet than 322 eastbound this morning. we're also still watching a crash on 422 westbound side approaching armand hammer boulevard. speeds in the 40's there so it is a little bit sluggish. we still have construction on the pennsylvania turnpike westbound past morgantown, left lane out of commission, eastbound the off ramp to fort washington we have some restrictions because of work and if you're out and about on

55 just north of many vineland watch out for woke going until 3:30 in the right lane. had some police activity up around glassboro but that just cleared. and time for the commuter report. if you're out and about in delaware construction zone along 295 north near new castle head towards the delaware memorial bridge so watch out for that one as well. nydia. >> matt, thank you. new information is coming in about a doctor found dead in the doorway of a new york city apartment building. sources say 38-year-old she likely died of a drug overdose and police say her death was not a crime but an autopsy came back inconclusive and officials are awaiting results of a toxicology test. police say the mother of three had been at a party in new york city before she was discovered unconscious and without some of her clothing. she lived in north jersey but is originally from washington township gloucester county. >> california is now the fifth state to allow terminally ill patients to end their own lives using doctor prescribed drugs. a previous version of the bill had failed despite the highly

publicized case of brittany maynard the california woman who had brain cancer moved to oregon in order to end her life last year. under the new law patients in california must be capable of taking the medication themselves and have two doctors approve it. >> the search continues for crew members from the cargo ship that sank near the bahamas. the ship called the el faro disappeared tuesday in rough seaseas churned up by hurricane joaquin. the coast guard found the remains of one victim. family members are holding out hope there may well be survivors. >> i just praying to god they bring them all home. >> we're asking for your prayers sincere prayers because in this situation that's all that we can do. >> the coast guard has found survival suits, life boats and life rafts. the ntsb is headed to the site to investigate. >> edward snowden says he's offered to return to the u.s. and go to jail for leaking information from the national security agency. snowden told the bbc he

here along 95 in the northbound lanes at girard avenue, you see the crews now mostly off to the side. so, the lanes are opening up but it gave us an early morning jam coming north of penn's landing through this point at girard. still have that crash in cape may county on the garden state parkway southbound at north wildwood taking out one lane there and on mass transit on time so far this morning. patco is running a special night schedule the next few nights and then they'll be on that special schedule all day on thursday and friday but right now on time. karen. >> all right, matt, let's look at the numbers d our high 73 degrees, sounds pretty nice, right, hey, 3 degrees above average even in the overnight hours. tonight's low 59, not quite as chilly as last night and the average low is 52 degrees. nowhere near those records that's for sure. here's a look at your day ahead. going to be bright and sunny after a chilly start. we have temperature in the 40's in some of the suburbs. by 9:00 a.m. it will be 56 with bright sunshine. by noon, 67. just a few clouds mixing with the sun this afternoon. by 3:00 p.m., nice and mild, 73. by 6:00 p.m., 72 coming down

from your high of 73. gets warmer still come tomorrow in fact a high of 76, nice and sunny. stays bright on thursday, 73. on friday, mostly cloudy skies and it looks wet. we start off with a shower, then a period of rain in the afternoon and evening. your high on friday 74, tam. >> okay, thank you, karen. new this morning, a high school football player has died from serious injuries suffered during a game. kenny bowie died in seattle three days after he got hurt tackling another player. the remainder that of game in washington state was canceled after the hit. bowie becomes the fourth high school football player to die because of an on field injury in the last month. that includes evan murray of warren hills regional high school in new jersey. a suspected drunk driver crashed into a home in colorado into a bedroom where a boy and his grandfather were asleep. kyle thompson said the bed literally flew across the room. thompson's 70-year-old grandfather got lit in the head by debris but neither of them was seriously hurt. >> talk about airing your dirty laundry.

a husband has been camped outside his mansion for six months. he's standing his ground in a separation dispute with his wife. sharafat khan is dish she have he would in need of food and a bathroom. his wife of 32 years is a doctor has posted signs telling passersby not to offer him food or any help. she's also a taken away his keys. >> how come you don't file for divorce? >> so, khan says his wife also wants a share of his money. he is part owner of the mansion. there are a lot of questions here. police say they've come to the home 30 times in the past six months. neighbors are trying to offer khan help whether his wife likes it or not. i think there's a lot more we need to find out. >> there's a lot going on in that story and whatever it is is really sad. >> i agree. >> 5:53. the fallout continues in the wake of attorney general kathleen kane's indictment. >> plus it's a big day for microsoft. the tech giant is unveiling a number of new products.

♪ ♪ >> from our delaware news room wilmington police are trying to find the gunman who shot a six-year-old girl. officers on patrol heard gun shots around 6:30 last night. they rushed to help the young victim in the 800 block of bennett street. the girl had been shot in the knee. she's now at wilmington hospital in stable condition and the search is going on for the gunman. >> we have new information this morning. authorities released the name of a gloucester county couple

found dead over the weekend. investigators say richard gugern shot his wife carol then shot himself. police say the husband called 911 saturday morning to report a shooting. officers found the bodies in their home on idylwood way in deptford township. more legal troubles for pennsylvania attorney general kathleen kane. a former chief deputy attorney general whom she fired sued her yesterday in federal cour court. james barker claims kane ousted him in retaliation after he provided testimony that helped bring perjury charges against her. kane's spokesman says she will vigorously defend herself against this new lawsuit. >> it's 5:57 and new this morning, rescuers respond when a driver crashes into a montgomery county creek and cannot get out. >> general mills is pulling a popular cereal from the shelves. details on the recall when "action news" continues.
