44 in coatesville. 42 this morning in oxford and chester. 53, though, in center city. in new jersey, we're in the 40's through most of the area. 46 in browns mills, 45 in hammonton, 48 in glassboro and 48 in dover, delaware. satellite6 and action radar showing we have nice clear skies and that's going to give the way for nothing but sunshine this afternoon. really a beautiful day ahead. this nice streak that we have. by 8:00 a.m. bright and sunny and 52. by noon we're up to 67. by 3:00 p.m., 73. that's our high for at a. 3 degrees above average. so, feeling nice and mild. by 6:00 p.m. 72 coming down from that high. if you like those numbers i've got more just like that on the way. details in that seven-day forecast coming up in just a minute, matt. >> guess it was a pretty nice crisp overnight, karen, to do some construction and i'll tell you, crews really took advantage. we had a ton of overnight construction, some of it still wrapping up here along 95 northbound side. this is the scene by the vine street expressway and it's given us an early morning delay as you can see coming north of penn's landing on up

to girard. the crews are slowly backing up and picking up the cones but at this point still both lanes not opened along 95 and you're looking at speeds like 15 now jumping to 26 miles per hour. not a bad start on the vine, the schuylkill, the roosevelt boulevard. they're all doing fine. but if you're head toward 95 in delco, you don't want to do so via 322 eastbound this morning. there was a crash overnight that brought down a pole by foulk road. on 422, had a crash in the pottstown area westbound approaching armand hammer now off to the side so we're picking up the pace a bit in that neck of the woods and they still haven't picked up construction along woodhaven road by the roosevelt boulevard. this is still 95 that we're looking app in northbound construction delay but just me, woods hey road westbound by the boulevard we still are with some construction. cape may county southbound lanes of the parkway by north wildwood one lane blocked in

that neck of the woods. tam. >> thank you, matt. new this morning a car crashed into a canal in montgomery county and it took a water rescue crew to save a person trapped in the wreckage. the car turned over in the water along the 400 block of tow path road in upper providence. the person rescued was taken to the hospital. they're expected to survive. two other people in the car managed to make it out on their own. a three-year-old little boy is in extremely critical condition this morning. he was hit by a car in philadelphia's logan section. now the driver did stop but soon after this was involved in an altercation right there at the scene. "action news" reporter erin o'hearn is lie at saint live att christopher's hospital with the latest. >> reporter: good morning, tam. the at three-year-olds toddlers are very tiny and also very quick. this little boy just started out into traffic and that's when he was hit by a car. necessary critical condition here at saint christopher's hospital but it's what happened after that accident that is adding to the tragedy. >> he was kind of shooken up.

he was. he was really shooken un. he was scared. i guess, you know, the little boy was real little. he was like i didn't really see him, i'm sorry. >> reporter: police say the driver of this gray mazda hatchback immediately stopped after striking a three-year-old boy at 13th and wagner in the city's logan section last night. >> i turned back around. i just seen a little boy flying up going underneath the car. >> reporter: police say the child landed underneath this red dodge durango parked along the street. he was later transferred from einstein to saint christopher's in very critical condition: a group of witnesses then came to the driver's rescue and put him in another vehicle until police arrived. they say the driver appeared remorseful and rattled. >> in this case this guy, it's an accident, he did the right thing he stopped but was assaulted by unknown persons. he was out of the car and some of the neighbors did come to his rescue and placed him inside their vehicle until police arrived. >> reporter: witnesses tell "action news" the accident just seemed unavoidable and neighbors identify the

three-year-old little boy as donnell banks. again he's here at saint christopher's hospital in very critical condition. of course our thoughts are with him and his family that he has a speedy recovery. we're live at saint christopher's hospital, erin o'hearn channel6 "action news." >> it is every parents' worst nightmare. we hope he'll be okay. thank you erin. police are looking for two brazen bandits who robbed a southwest philadelphia hotel. the action cam was at the extended stay hotel along the 8800 block of bartram avenue. shortly after 9 o'clock last night two men, at least one carrying a gun demanded money from the front desk. after getting a wad of cash the men took off. fortunate. no one was hurt. >> a bucks county volunteer firefighter is being held on $2 million bail after police say he assaulted a young woman. police say 21-year-old shane mcmichael forced his way into the bensalem township home of a 17-year-old girl and then beat and choked her. the victim, though, recognized her attacker. police say the volunteer firefighter was dressed in all black with a mask covering his

face but when the teen said his name, he fled. police claim mcmichael has confessed and has been suspended from the cornwells fire company. it is 6:06 and the fbi and philadelphia police are on the hunt for this woman who they say held up a center city td bank branch on saturday afternoon. investigators released these surveillance photos of the suspect who handed a demand note to the teller inside the 19th and market location. no one was hurt. >> turning to business, before you take a bite out of your breakfast beware a popular cereal is being recalled. maribel aber is live at the nasdaq in times square. >> reporter: hang on for the recall details on that one. first stocks. a solid rally on wall street on monday as stocks soared for second straight session but right now futures look to be pointing to a lower open. a report on the trade deficit due out later today. general mills is recalling some gluten free cheerios because they mistakenly contained wheat. about 1.8 million boxes of

cheerios and honey nut cheerios are being called back. general mills says wheat flower was inadvertently introduced to the gluten free oat flower system. the boxes of clear rows are being recalled and general mills is asking customers with wheat allergies to call the companies. stocks of gun makers have soared this year. smith and wesson up more than 80 percent here to date. ruger is up almost 70 percent and the reason behind the rally people are buying a lot of guns. both companies are on track to either tie or surpass sales records. facebook will use a satellite to beam the internet to africa. the social networker is teaming up with a french company to launch a satellite next year. the satellite will provide internet access to 14 countries in the sub saharan africa, part of facebook's push using satellite, drones and lasers to connect remote areas of the globe to the internet. that's the latest in business news from nasdaq. back over to you nydia and tam. >> thanks maribel. let's take a look at our accuweather and i think we're

streak and milder as well. mostly sunny at the shore. we're watching for the patchy fog to see if that develops. not seeing too many problems with that just yet but along the coastline especially that could be an issue. 70 degrees for your high at the shore. we'll also hit about 70 in the lehigh valley. it's a chilly start in the lehigh valley, you're one of those spots where you're really in the low 40's this morning but under mostly sunny skies so it will be a nice afternoon with a high of 70 degrees. here in the city we'll hit 73. 3 degrees above average. by 8:00 a.m., bright sunshine and 52. by 11:00 a.m., warming up nicely, 65. yesterday we were stuck in the 60's. today we're getting to the 70's. by 2:00 p.m. you'll be feeling that. mostly sunny skies and 71. by 5:00 p.m., 72 coming down from your high of 73. and then tomorrow more of the same is coming. we've got high pressure that will be moving in ahead of this weak front, 76 degrees so the warmest day of the week coming your way with lots of sunshine. keeping that nice trend for you. let's take a look at your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast. turning warmer today. 73 degrees for your high. tomorrow it's nice and sunny,

>> ♪ >> welcome back. 6:14, 52 degrees. sky6 hd taking a live look in atlantic city. it's going to be a nice day no matter where you are, a high of 73 degrees. can't beat date it. >> a. let's head over to matt pelman see what -- ooh. moving around trying to find what is the problem there in traffic. >> i'm not quite sure what's in the water this morning but we have a lot of problems in traffic one of them being an overturned pickup truck tam and nydia in the westbound lanes of woodhaven road. there you can see it. it's on its roof. there's glass all over the roadway. this is westbound woodhaven route 63 at academy road. remember this is where we had the nighttime construction that was running late taking out these right lanes. well, truck flipped over right in the work zone. just the left lane squeezing by doing so slowly coming west

of 95. at this point i would avoid westbound woodhaven road headed towards the roosevelt boulevard and of course we'll keep you posted. coming down from woodhaven on 95 southbound starting to see those normal morning delays. 25 miles per hour by cottman, 33 by girard. speeds on the northbound side of 95 this morning just 10 miles per hour because of more late running construction northbound by girard that's in the process of clearing but there's a big jam-up there on the northbound side of 95 through society hill. headed toward 95 in delco you don't want to use 322 eastbound this morning. crash brought down a pole overnight. so coming away from concordeville i'd stay down on namaans creek road or use 452 instead of 322. but here's the better news. you deserve a little bit of that after all of what i just told you. in schuylkill township chester county, we are getting word that route 23, the bridge over pickerring creek is opening very soon. i had gotten word yesterday that it was going to be today. i talked to my friends at penndot last night. they said they put a sealant on the bridge yesterday.

they've got a couple more things to do. they're not sure exactly when it's going to be but very soon. as soon as it opens they'll let me know and then i'll let you know so we'll pass it along, nydia. >> all right, matt, thank you. new on "action news," a high school football coach in florida has been benched after being accused of punching a referee in the face during a game. yeah, you see that video there. police say leo davis told deputies he pushed the referee in an attempt to break up a fight that started after an upsetting call. the police say the video contradicts davis' statement. police have charged him with battery. >> new here at 6:00 a.m., the wife of a pilot who died mid flight says she is still in shock. >> you just feel numb. that's the only way i could explain it. it's like no, this isn't really -- it's not real. i don't think it's quite hit yet. >> the wife of pilot michael johnson told reporters yesterday a coroner told her that her husband had died of a heart attack. the plane was en route from phone in particulars boston when the copilot radioed for

woodhaven road here in northeast philadelphia. that pickup truck flipping over there for some reason in the road. we're told the driver was able to manage to get himself out of the vehicle, that he's being checked out there at the scene but you can see with drivers passing by and taking a look at, that pickup truck literally upside down. >> crazy pictures tam. this was an ongoing construction zone westbound that was running a little late this morning. not sure if the construction contributed at all but the scene happened by academy. you can see just the left lane is squeezing by on woodhaven as you come away from 95 and head out toward the boulevard. i think i would stay up on street road as a much better bet than westbound 63 woodhaven road this morning. as we hit the maps not too far off in elkins park a new crash to avoid along high school road at township line road. luckily our crash down the shore on the garden state parkway southbound has cleared. and in new castle county more work going on today along 202 the concorde pike at 95. avoid that from 8:00 to 4:00. karen. >> if you're headed out of town not seeing any delays on the flight board even though

>> new on "action news" former president jimmy carter is stepping in to help resolve a legal battle involving reverend martin luther king jr.'s children. king's two sons have been at odds with their sister bern over their traveling bible and 1964 peace prize. she doesn't want her father's items sold to a private buyer. a string of legal disputes have divided the king heirs in recent years. >> a young man in texas caught a mistake about slavery in his textbook. the publicker feeling the heat from his mother apologized. kobe burn noticed his world geography textbook noticed his textbook said slaves brought to america had been workers. he said it downplayed the brutality of slavery. his mother a teacher pointed out the mistake on a postline. publisher mcgraw-hill heard

>> ♪ >> developing now on "action news" the search is on for a shooter who killed one man and critically wounded another in north philadelphia overnight. >> a traffic stop takes a violent turn. a state trooper gets punched and the suspect gets zapped with a taser. >> good morning, it's 6:30 on this tuesday october 6th. matt o'donnell is off. nydia han is joining us. let's head over to karen rogers. she's got your accuweather update matt pelman has traffic. good morning. >> good morning. sunrise isn't for another half hour but i hope you get a chance to step outside 'cause i'm watching the skies brighten and it's going to be a beauty. rather chilly out here though. grab in coat before you led out. only 42 degrees in quakertown, 44 coatesville, 43 kennett square and saint davids, 42 chester. 53 in center city. little better in the city itself but in the suburbs in new jersey, mid to upper 40's like 45 we dipped to in hammonton, 46 in cinnaminson and 47 in dover, delaware. it's one of those times of transition. we have chilly starts but yet a beautiful afternoon. we can look at satellite6 and see there are no clouds to worry about no, rain to worry

about but nothing but sunshine coming your way today. by 8:00 a.m. bright sunshine and 52. by noon, 67, warming up nicely. we were stuck in the 60's yesterday. today we get into the 70's. by 3:00 p.m. we'll hit a high of 73 and just a few high clouds mixing with lots of sunshine. by 6:00 p.m., 72 degrees so really beautiful afternoon but we are tracking a bit of rain on the way. so details with an updated forecast coming up in just a minute, matt pelman. >> and karen i want everyone to stop and pick up something caffeinated this morning. so they're bright and alert because we have been having a lot of problems, a lot of people runing into a lot of things. here in northeast philadelphia we had a pickup truck that flipped over in the westbound lanes of woodhaven road, route 63 right by academy road. there's the truck now upright as you can see and attached to the tow truck. they still have the two right lanes blocked here on westbound woodhaven headed toward the boulevard and there's quite the jam as chopper 6hd pans back, you can see the sea of headlights coming away from 95 all stacked up. i think i'd stay up on street road as a better bet than

woodhaven westbound early on this tuesday morning. let's go to 95. they've been running late with northbound construction here by the vine street expressway. they're still, still backing up and picking up these cones. it's been a real mess with jammed traffic coming northbound toward girard and a lot of people not realizing that the work ends here have been bailing out onto the westbound side of vine so now that's all stacked up from broad street out to the schuylkill. if you're headed toward the schuylkill on the roosevelt boulevard southbound we're jammed here now, too, from ridge avenue right about there on down to approaching 76 right there at the bottom of the screen is a right lane accident contributing to the southbound delay. still have that crash in bethel township delco in the eastbound lanes of 322 at foulk road coming away from one baltimore pike i wouldn't get on three too. i would use namaans creek road or 452 as some alternates. had a crash on 422 early this morning in the work zone in pottstown westbound approaching armand hammer. that's off to the side now so little bit of good news there.

elkins park a wreck along high school road at township line road. and a couple work zones to watch out for until mid a of the into and on 551 northbound past vineland the other southbound past millville. nydia. >> matt, thank you. developing overnight, police are investigating a deadly double shooting in north philadelphia. the action cam was on the scene in the 2600 block of north eighth street. police say two men were hit by gunfire at around 2:00 a.m. one victim died at the scene, the other is in critical condition. witnesses tell police they saw people running away toward west lehigh avenue but it's still unclear who shot the men or why. detectives are focusing their investigation around a car parked near the scene. >> this is also new. two philadelphia police officers have been injured in a crash. their vehicle hit a tree in southwest philadelphia at bartram avenue and holstein causing heavy front end damage. one officer suffered a broken leg. doctors treated the other officer for minor injuries. police are blaming a mechanical failure for the crash. a tragedy ended with a

child in the fight of his life and a driver beaten up in philadelphia's logan section. a mazda hit three year old didn't onnell banks at 13th and wagner. witnesses say the little boy darted out between two parked cars wasn't hit by the mazda. the driver did stopped but was attacked by a group of men. neighbors rush to help the driver until police could arrive. the boy is in the hospital in critical condition and police are looking into that assault claim. >> an attempted traffic stop on the schuylkill expressway ended with a chase and a crash. the suspects get away ended when his car hit a pole at 34th and mantua last night. state police say the driver then got out and punched a trooper. that trooper then tased and arrested him. the suspect was taken to the hospital for minor injuries. the passenger in the car took off from the crash site and has not been captured. >> it is 6:34. police are searching for a 16-year-old reportedly connector to a murder in coatesville this past weekend. it's the city's first homicide in three years. four other men ranging in age from 17 to 21 years old are

already in custody. police say the suspects decided to rob another group of men. the victims were outside a home in the 100 block of fourth avenue when the suspects approached and good and to pat them down for valuables. police say chris mansfield punched one of the victims in the head while dajon rowe alleged the shot two men. one of them was killed. >> new this morning a montgomery county hospital has settled with the federal government for allegedly turning away an liv positive patient. federal prosecutors chalmers see suburban hospital in east norriton refused the patient without evaluation or treatment because she is hiv positive. she was denied bariatric surgery. the hospital has agreed to pay the woman $20,000 and pay the government a $5,000 civil penalty. mercy has also agreed to implement a nondiscrimination policy. >> president obama has signed a disaster declaration for the areas of south carolina hit so hard by that historic rain. residents wiped out or displaced by the deadly flooding will receive money for things like temporary housing.

drinking water has been contaminated for tens of thousands of people. so far the death toll in the carolinas is at least 12. access points to entire towns have been cut off by collapsed roads and that means only heiresairrescue is possible. >> what we got on is all we own. >> have to start over. >> nikki haley the governor of the state warns residents are not even out of the woods just yet because the rain has stopped. the threat of flooding remains because of rising rivers and weakened dams. >> such a tough situation. those pictures are horrible. >> my sister lives in south carolina. i'm going to show you how much rainfall compared to how much we get in a minute but they've just been told to stay in your house because it's so dangerous just to even travel on the roads out there. so no rain for them today and no rain for us, either. let's take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan around the region and you can see we're dry out there. let's go on outside and see what it looks like. we've been watching the skies brighten and it's just beautiful as we look live on sky6 down the shore in

atlantic city. kind of a quieter day than it has been. no more concerns with coastal flooding that we had for so many days. looking good today. the temperature in philadelphia dipped to 51 degrees. and in some of the suburbs you're just in the low 40's. we brought in our always on day planner to help you map out what it's going to be like during the day. no worries. we'll warm up nicely. the dewpoint 45 degrees, winds out of the north, not as breezy as yesterday but a cool breeze at that, 6 miles an hour. the barometric pressure falling. satellite6 and action radar showing we're not dealing with the cloud cover that we had yesterday morning and we've got nothing but clear conditions out there and we're going sea bright sunshine through the day. and staying dry. here's a wider look at action radar around the nation and we can see that area of low pressure that was just plaguing south carolina in particular, pulling away a little bit so the rain there easing up. we stay dry because that low is down to the south but when you compare the rainfall they've had for us historic flooding. since october 1st mount pleasant south carolina will over 26-inches of rain. that's more rain than we would

the day. it's 6:42, 52 degrees out there. we'll get up to 73 as the day goes on. >> drivers not having such a beautiful start to the day, right, matt. >> no, it's been really rough. i think i'm ready for the pope to come back. this has been a mess this morning we've had late running construction and then in some of the work zones we've had accidents like here along woodhaven road. chopper 6hd still live over the scene of our overturned pickup truck. luckily it's not overturned any longer but they still have the right lane blocked because of the debris along woodhaven westbound here by academy. and you can see all the stuck traffic back there coming away from 95 trying to head toward the boulevard doing so very slowly. i would stay up on street road instead of westbound woodhaven this morning. and speaking of the roosevelt boulevard, well, of course there's a crash there, too. this is the roosevelt expressway coming southbound approaching the schuylkill. there's the accident. just a couple vehicles involved but it's taking out the right lane. so now we're jammed on one, the boulevard southbound from just past broad street through this point approaching i-76 the schuylkill expressway.

in addition to that crash we're watching, of course, normal slow speeds along 95 southbound, just in the teens. northbound we had that late running construction by the vine. that's now off to the side so luckily we're picking up the pace there at 47 miles per hour. wwe smack downton night in south philadelphia. that will attract some people to the wells fargo center around 7 o'clock this evening. and a crash smack down a pole in concorde township delaware county so along 322 eastbound at foulk seeing restrictions. head for namaans creek road or 452 instead of 322. i got end with good news. today in schuylkill township there's a good chance we'll get back route 23. i don't have it confirmed for sure. we're waiting to hear from penndot but they're putting the finishing touches on the bridge over pickering creek. good news there, tam. >> thank you matt. a deadly collision with a septa bus remains under investigation. chopper six was over the scene on penn street in philadelphia's frankford section last night. police say the driver of an suv was killed after rear
