glitch with southwest airlines, we're live with the details. >> the eagles back in the mix as they prepare for a monday night showdown. >> let's get a look at weather and traffic and head over to david murphy and karen rogers. >> reporter: good morning, everyone we're off to a cool start across the region with a number of us in the 40s. take a look at satellite, very little cloud cover around, a couple of spots might wind up with patchy fog this morning, but it's not a wide spread issue. 352 in the city. 43 in allentown. mid 40s in reading. low 40s in lancaster. 41 in millville. new jersey, not a lot of wind out there, a lot of zeros on the map. that means calm winds which makes it earer to take the cool start up temperatures. there's nothing cool about this afternoon. you make it through 9:00 a.m., things will feel better. 58 by 10:00 a.m. noon, 689. high of 75 around 3:30 or 4
before slipping into the lower 70s by 6 and 50s and 60s overnight. we're looking at cooler air during the ladder portion of the week. it will feel like autumn later on and we'll have details on how the slide curse coming up the in seven day. karen, what are roads look like? >> reporter: we're not seeing too many bad spots out there right now. light volume on columbus day, no major problems. we have construction winslow township shutting down fox borough road at route 73. the stick to tauten road. van buren avenue. construction. the ben franklin bridge westbound traffic volume building, eastbound we have the right lane blocked with construction crews out there, as well. on the big picture we're looking
in good shape speeds in the 50s on the schuylkill expressway and i-95. the lowest speed dipping to 41 rat girard that's not bad at all. we have check lighter volume with people having off. we're starting with a developing story, a 2-year-old child is fighting for his life after being involved in a nasty crash in northeast philadelphia. it happened before 11:00 p.m. at bustleton and cheltenham avenue. the suffer lost control and -- the suv lost control and hit a poll. the child was in a car seat, bus stop not buckled in formally. the mother and 8-year-old were taken to the hospital. police are not sure what caused the accident. people flying southwest airlines may experience delays at the check in booth. technical issues plagued the airline over the weekend. trish hartman joins us live from philadelphia international airport. >> reporter: hi, matt, we've been talking with passengers all
morning, things are moving sleuth -- smoothly this morning. a little bit of a line, but it's moving quickly. southwest airlines is asking customers to arrive two hours early because of the technical issues they have been experiencing. we've been checking the board. all the flights are listed on time. earlier this morning, the lines were longer around 5:00 a.m. after dealing with delayed flights and handle writing boarding passes at some airports. southwest say the computers are back up and they a little bit to print boarding passes this morning. southwest representative say the technology glitch started around 10:00 a.m. the problem meant 450 flights were delayed. some people missed their flights because of the long lines. folks we spoke with this morning said they came prepared. >> got here super early. got ready and came. no big deal. >> reporter: did you print your
boarding pass at home. >> i did that yesterday. >> i didn't want to get up this early, that means i have to sit at the airport when i could be back in bed sleeping a little bit longer. we took the whole day off to recover. >> reporter: a smart idea. back here live, the self-check in kiosks are working. they are urging you to print your boarding pass at home and use a self-serving kiosk if you're checking luggage arriving at the terminal flying southwest. trish hartman channel 6 "action news." >> the burlington county prosecutor is investigating a man's bizarre tragic death in pemberton township, new jersey. he died with his head stuck in in a clothing donation bin. his feet were sticking out of the bin people thinking it was a halloween decoration.
a woman called 911 saying this was a real body. >> if you put your head in there it's going to get stuck. it's not a big giant hole to get a whole body in there. >> police took away a bike found next to the bin. authorities are looking into the possibility that the man was a transient looking for donations. >> bandit is on the run after attacking two teens in south philadelphia. someone stabbed a 14-year-old in the back and 16-year-old in the back and neck in a park at 15th and oregon. the 14-year-old is in stable condition. the 16-year-old is critical at children's hospital. the police say the victims knew their attacker. >> tech industry was thrill that jack doorcy would stay head of twitter. maribel aber has more. >> twitter will have major

so might be an issue for you, but in most cases probably not. once we get past the chilly start, the afternoon looks good. in the lehigh valley, sunny and nice, 74 degrees, down the shore, sunny and pretty nice. winds on the light side, 70 degrees, some spots get into the upper 60s the farther south you go along the coast. 70 degrees is the high in philadelphia. lots of sun and pleasant. winds out of the southwest no worse than 6 to 12 miles per hour. as we roll through the day, 51 degrees by 8:00. 11:00, 63. in the afternoon we'll be in the low to mid 70s the whole way. the high of 75 is late in the day, probably around 3:30, 4:00 p.m. tomorrow, clouds early in the morning, maybe sunny breaks at times. we'll be on the look out for showers, some of them maybe around here in the morning hours, 5:00 p.m., maybe a sprinkle here or there. i do think it will be a day that features clouds and at times sun, just a slight chance of a

we're slow on i-95 southbound near cottman at 26 miles per hour. that's the stabled direct that was blocking the right lane, they pushed it off to the side. now all lanes back open on i-95. if coming in from conshohocken state road, stick to the schuylkill expressway it's a 27 minute ride on the schuylkill expressway we have light volume that's the way to go this morning. the only weather we've seen in one or two spots was a touch of fog. we had a live update, # miles per hour at philadelphia international. half mile in lancaster. .8 visibility in wilmington. a little bit of a fog this morning in one or two spots. it's not a widespread issue. i want to show you the temperatures. it's starting off chilly, even though we have a nice warm afternoon. 42 in quakertown. that's chilly. 41 in oxford and 43 in chester.
in the suburbs in new jersey, 40 in hammonton, 41 in buena. 42 in woodbine. 44 in dover. even though the afternoon itself is going to be gorgeous with a high of 75. >> new on "action news" the investigation is underway after the engine caught fire 0 on a plane at a las vegas airport. the plane heading to fresno was going 100 miles an hour an about to take off when they heard a loud boom. the pilot aborted takeoff. nobody was hurt. an altercation outside the stadium where the dallas cowboys played turned violent. gunfire erupted during a tailgate party. a 40-year-old man was taken to the hospital with injuries. the shooter parentally trying to run from the stadium fell and was also taken to the hospital. new details released on the
off-duty police officer in tennessee. he was shot multiple times. he with as on his way to work when he was shot in his car. he crawled to the house to get help. he died at the hospital a short time later. a man is in custody, but not charged. he leaves behind a fiance who was 4 months pregnant. police outside in houston where an officer used a taser on counselman. officers asked the counselman to step away while they questioned his friends. he wouldn't move and can be heard asking why officers were questioning them. as this escalated, an officer used his taser. miller is facing several charges including resisting arrest. 6:15. the eagles talk about what it will take to keep them going strong. take a look as we are dressing the kids in temple gear and eagles gear. we're chilly right now and getting nice and mild this

expressway, 113, traffic is moving better, not as many people on the roads this morning. switching the camera view to the ben franklin bridge this is a look from new jersey, westbound traffic coming into the city. not as bad, a little bit building volume not a jam. looking better on the ben franklin bridge. eastbound we have the right lane blocked for construction. i talk to police in bucks county they tell me the accident not causing too many problems on yardley langhorne road and stoney hill road. watch for that stepping out. we have slow speeds on the schuylkill expressway westbound from the boulevard to belmont moving at 22 miles per hour. i-95 southbound at 16 miles per hour that's the normal morning jam. 27 miles miles per hour at cottman, the commute was getting off to a slow start, things not that bad, we are starting to slow up. if you're coming in from philadelphia from newtown
square, west chester 40 minute ride. lancaster avenue, 38 minute ride. the best bet even though it looks out of the way i-95 come in that way. that's the best bet coming in from newtown square. 3 miles in wilmington,.3 in lancaster. just a touch of fog, matt. >> this video is just into "action news," an armed man held up the 7-eleven in the city's feltonville section. it happened at the store on risings sun avenue and whyoming avenue at 4:30 a.m. aman where a gun entered the store wearing a do rag. he demanded money and fled. a midnight car chase, the suspect jumped into the stolen cruiser when police were called to an accident involving a different stolen car.
police chased the man and caught him. a man was drifting in the pacific ocean for 5 days off the hawaiian a islands. he was rescued by the coast guard he was not hurt. a plane was forced to turn around on the way to hong kong out of san francisco. the plane was along the alaskan coast when it had to retrace it's route down to california. >> the airplane was using more fuel than usual they were not sure we would make it to hong kong, so they dieded to go back. >> some passengers complained all they received for the delay was a 20-dollar food voucher.
