gay bashing case have played guilty while an alleged female accomplice is heading to trial. william phillips and haringan when to court this morning, the alleged accomplish katherine knox will head to trial. they are charged with assaulting a gay couple in center city last year. we'll have much more on "action news" tonight. at penn's landing, the chestnut street overpass is closed after a crack was found in a support pier, chopper 6 hd was over the overpass early this morning, you can see it's now blocked from traffic, this after penndot engineers found a huge crack in the elevated road and that led them to act quickly to prevent any tragedies. john rawlins joins us from penn's landing with more.

>> reporter: repair work is already beginning, but lets set the scene, this is old city and this is chestnut and front street, and as we pan back over here, this is the elevated extension built in the 1980s and takes you to penn's landing and market street and columbus boulevard and you can see it's closed. this is why the elevated road is closed. one of the massive support beams is deteriorating. it caused imbedded steel to expanding damage the concrete, it had been flagged last spring by penndot for repair and work was to begin next month. but a civilal spotted the crack and called police and they decided to close the road and moved up the repair work, they made a temporary support system to allow the road to reopen for

traffic possibly as early as this weekend. >> they hope to have the road open for vehicles by the end of the sunday night here, the permanent fix they are beginning to work on now and will continue to work on for the next several weeks hopefully that will be completed in the next several weeks, john recall questionses, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. two temple university students were robbed at gun point in separate incidents this morning. the first happened near campus at the intersection of north 10th street and susquehanna avenue, 21-year-old temple football player was approached by two men that threatened him with a gun and took his wallet, car and phone. and another students was walking on the 1800 block of north 15th street. >> we captured a lot of video from that. >> neither student was injured and these incidents come a few

week after a female student was sexually assaulted. and now a surveillance of a man wanted for breaking into cars at villanova university, the man in the white tank top tried to use a credit card stolen from one vehicle at a lukoil, to buy cigarettes, the cards belonged to villanova football players. call police if you know who that man is. jury selection got underway in the case of chaka fattah jr., he is indicted for stealing funds meant for philadelphia schools and prosecutors said he lied about his income on tax returns and took out business loans and that fattah jr. used it to pay off personal and gambling debts. and philadelphia police are investigating a triple shoot that left a teenager dead, he was found with a gun still in his hand, it happened on the 500

block of ritner street in south philadelphia, police were called to the scene at 9:30 last nice, they say that someone opened fire on the street and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. from our delaware newsroom, police in wilmington have arrested a man for a stabbing over the weekend, 36-year-old joesly rojas is charged with stabbing a 60-year-old man at the apartments last night. the victim was stabbed in the torso, rojas and the victim both live in the complex and police say they got into a fight that led to the stabbing. today is the deadline for homeowners seeking to challenge their superstorm sandy flood damage claims, more than 100,000 homeowners in the plan suffered a loss more than three years ago. fema has allowed all of them to

along the 1900 block of mccain street and south 20th street last month, when he saw something he wanted, he broke in and then the alarm scared him before he took anything. and police are looking for a braez enthief that took advantage of a stranger's kindness, it happened on locust late thursday night, they asked the 6-year-old victim for money and then pushed him to the ground and stole his wallet. the man suffered cuts and bruises but is otherwise okay. the search is on for two men that allegedly shot two teenagers leaving one dead. and perhaps one of the most bizarre plays in baseball history, more on the blue jays-rangers game last night.

s. in syracuse a manhunt is underway after two people were shot s police spent several hours searching a cemetery near the scene this morning, a 15-year-old male was killed and a 17-year-old male was injured. the detectives were not hit and the violence did not happen on the campus of syracuse university. but it did prompt school officials to tell students in and around the school to take emergency precautions. in ohio, dna evidence links robert venure to two murders. they are looking at where and when he worked to see if there is unsolved killings. he is expected to be arraigned in the four slayings tomorrow. a woman in alaska is facing is numerous charges after she
