and that places them atop the nfc east. good morning, it's 5:30 on this tuesday. tam is off. erin o'hearn joins us. we have david and karen with weather and traffic. >> that really was a must win situation and they pulled it off. satellite shows us there's cloud cover and radar showing rain up over the great lakes. some of these clouds might try to spill closer to philadelphia as the day goes on but generally speaking we're being protected by a large area of high pressure that is in the process of moving toward the east and providing us with more of a southerly flow. so, mostly sunny skies today thanks to the high and that southerly flow is going to help mild us up today. we're going to be a little bit warmer than we were yesterday. 47 degrees in philadelphia right now it's cool to start out. 44 in allentown. 39 in reading, 43 in wilmington, 48 in millville and 52 in sea isle city and as you take a look at the difference between where we are right now and where we were this time yesterday, we're 11 degrees milder so, yeah, it's chilly out there but nothing like it was yesterday. a 19-degree jump and at the airport in atlantic city,

millville and allentown so feeling better to start out. still cool enough for coats. on the bus stop mainly clear and chilly, 45 degrees by 6 o'clock, 46 by 8 o'clock. a little cooler in some suburbs. as we go into the afternoon things do get better, kids and adults. 46 degrees by 8 o'clock but 61 degrees by noon. 3 o'clock 68 degrees for a high and how about a high of 69 degrees at 4 o'clock and that will be probably pushing up into the 70-degree range in some urban centers like center city this afternoon. gets even better tomorrow, karen. that's coming up. >> i like when you tell us everything is going to get better. that's very nicely said. let's hit the roads right now. this is going to get better, too. we've got some construction out here. you see the cones blocking the left lane but expected to wrap shortly. in langhorne bucks county route one southbound right near maple avenue 213 construction still blocking the left lane but it's early, light volume and not too many problems. this accident though in quakertown is causing an issue. they've shut down 309 southbound between toll gate road and rich hill road so you

have to stick to old bethlehem pike as your alternate. the accident in cheltenham cleared so cheltenham avenue looking a lot better right now with no problems there. we had construction on the vine street expressway closing it in both directions for the overnight hours. it's clear. we see eastbound, westbound moving fine. it's going to close again tonight at 11 o'clock. so you'll have to watch for those crews out there working. in florence township burlington county they're blocking the left lane on the turnpike connector westbound between the tolls and 130 but they only have about another 30 minutes, matt and erin. >> thanks, karen. we begin with breaking news here. intruders tied up two people in a philadelphia home and forced one person to drive to an atm to get out cash but police say one of those intruders bumbled his get away. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live on the scene in kensington with the details. katherine. >> reporter: matt, there are three victims here. two of them were tied up. one of them was stabbed. all of them were taken to the hospital for evaluation. as for the suspects, the

28-year-old man is in custody and police are searching for another man and they still have the road here closed off for the investigation in kensington this morning. officers were called here to the 3100 block of f street around 2:30 this morning. police say the two men with masks went inside a home. they were armed with a knife and a hammer. they woke up the three people inside. a 26-year-old woman was tied to a claire with rope and electrical cord. there was still rope around her neck when police arrived. a 36-year-old man was tied to ahead, his wrists and ankles bounds with rope and electrical cord. the third woman in her 40's was taken to her car. police say the men forced her to drive to kensington and allegheny and withdraw the $100 she had in her account. they made her drive back to the home and that's when police say she got into a physical altercation with the two men outside the home. police say someone heard her screaming and called 911. that's what alerted police. when police arrived they found two men struggling with the

woman. one of the men was wearing gloves and a mask. he had a ham interhis hand. when police went to apprehend him he jumped into the white honda that they had just driven to get money and tried to flee but two officers jumped in the car then took him into custody. the victims were taken to the hospital. the man had been stabbed and beat up but he was walking and talking. investigators are now searching for evidence. >> detectives are on the scene processing the scene right now although they were wearing gloves, possibly socks covering their hands, detectives are still going the process the scene, try to lift prints, try to get any dna they can off of the rope, off of the electrical cords and anything else that they touched. >> reporter: the second suspect fled north on f street on allerga allegheny. he was wearing all dark clothing. there are some surveillance cameras where the woman withdrew the money. there are cameras on a nearby business here so police are hoping there's some footage

that can help them track down their suspect. >> thanks katherine. developing in camden two separate shootings injured two people overnight. gunfire first went off at rose street and whitman avenue around 1:00 a.m. around the same time someone got shot three blocks away at thurmond and newport street. police found an abandoned bicycle near a corner store. both victims are in critical condition. it is unclear if the shootings are relateed. >> new this morning, a single car crash jammed 95 just as eagles fans were trying to leave the game. it happened on the northbound side near packer avenue in south philadelphia around midnight. investigators say the driver lost control and hit a penndot construction sign. that driver is being checked out at the hospital. it took almost an hour to clear that accident. a driver seriously injured a pedestrian in delaware last night. this happened along pulaski highway in new castle. the driver remained at the scene. the impact of the crash left

the hood dented and smashed the windshield of that car. state police are in the early stages of that investigation. >> 5:36. new this morning, a main line restaurant that was shut down due to a roach infestation is now allowed to reopen. radnor township health officials cleared yangming in bryn mawr last night. in august, a customer found a roach in a meal. days later a surprise inspection revealed more roaches and sewer pipes dripping on food. yangming's general manager blamed a broken ventilation system. the owners have promised to renovate and refurbish the restaurant. >> biden watch continues this morning with anticipation building in washington and the vice president's hometown in delaware. speculation has flooded the nation's capitol that joe biden plans to launch a 2016 bid and soon. biden himself continues to skirt the issue with reporters. >> late joe biden and i just want you to know as much as i

love you, i've been in a meeting with the president on another matter for the last two hours and it's hard to say, mr. president, you're on your own, i'm leaving. although he is on his own, he doesn't need me. >> philadelphia area congressman brendan boyle tweeted this yesterday. i have a very good source close to joe that tells me vp biden will run for prez. republican candidates donald trump and ben carson have requested protection from the secret service. the secretary of homeland security will assess these requests along with five senior members of congress. >> well, the eagles have gone from worst to first. the action cam was in bordentown, new jersey, where fans of both the birds and the giants watched the rivals battle it out. the eagles won 27 to seven. fans say big d made the difference. new york had three turnovers. >> if the defense i -- the defes playing really great.

like most of this is probably going to have a hard time coming much farther south than about i80 or perhaps the lehigh valley. high pressure down to the south is having a tendency to erode that so we'll go mostly sunny skies today with the occasional chance of showers popping down out of the north. we'll be kind of watching that particularly in the northern suburbs. 11 o'clock 53 degrees so still cool from sunrise up to about 11 o'clock. we spend the majority of the afternoon in the upper 60's and that will be a lot better than yesterday when we were breezy and stuck in the mid-50's. 69 degrees is your high today. probably around 4 o'clock this afternoon. under mainly sunny skies, some occasional clouds possible. 67 degrees in allentown and reading today. these are your high temperatures. 68 in trenton and wilmington. 66 in millville and mid 60's down the shore. everybody milder than yesterday. the last three days in fact we were below normal with highs in the 50's but now jet stream is going to pop up to our north. high pressure to the south circulating that southerly wind in. today will be in the 60's in most neighborhoods but up into

the 70's both wednesday and thursday. a nice stretch of weather on tap. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, 69 degrees today, sunny and milder. tomorrow, warm and pleasant with a high of 74 and 75 on thursday. also note how the overnight lows in philadelphia are going to be in the 50's which isn't too bad for this time of year. a front comes through thursday late in the day or at night. we'll see a nighttime shower as a result and behind it it's cooler for friday and saturday, highs in the low 60's as we roll into the first part of the weekend and lows in the 40's. but another front approaches on sunday, probably clouding us up a bit in the afternoon and maybe triggering a late day or night time shower. but ahead of that front we're back up to 69 for sunday. if you're headed to the union match, the final game of the season down at ppl park on sunday at 5:00 p.m. you'll want to keep your eyes on action radar just in case there's aglare good advice. thanks dave. still ahead on "action news" new details about former nba baller lamar odom's condition after being found unconscious at a las vegas

>> ♪ >> welcome back on this tuesday morning. you're taking a live look at sky6 hd in atlantic city. camera shaking around a little bit. little breezy but feels much better this morning than it did yesterday. a high today 69 and it only gets better over the next few days. >> karen what's going on on the roads. >> time to hit the suburban traffic report and find out. we'll start you off way live look in king of prussia. this is 202 at the schuylkill. if you're coming up from west chester, exton or malvern, you can see you've got a clear easy ride. light volume on 202. roads are clear and dry as well so no weather related problems. we have an accident causing a problem on the turnpike eastbound they've closed the turnpike eastbound in pennsylvania between lebanon and reading so although more people in our area will be heading westbound, if you are heading eastbound we just want to warn you about this that you're going see this accident causing an issue here, eastbound pennsylvania turnpike shut down between

lebanon and reading because of this accident. use 322 or route 30 as your alternate for that one. we have an accident here in quakertown bucks county blocking 309 southbound and that's between toll gate road and rich hill road so stick to old bethlehem pike as your alternate. this disabled tractor-trailer block the right lane in new castle county on 95 southbound at 141. pulling in your commuter traffic report on the waze app right here finding the best ways to get to work if you're in narberth and you're coming into the city, if you stick to lancaster avenue it's a 22 minute ride. take the schuylkill expressway, pretty light volume an 18 minute ride so no problem taking the schuylkill just yet. how about the temperatures? remember yesterday we were scraping off our windshields. not the case today. 44 in martins creek, a lot milder. 42 degrees in saint davids. we're at 46 degrees in center city. 45 in ewing, 46 glassboro, 44 in dover delaware. pretty cool but not bad to start you off erin. >> thanks karen. new word that lamar odom

has been transferred a los angeles hospital and he's in the early stages of physical therapy. the former nba player was found unconscious at a nevada brothel last week and fell into a coma. abc news has learned he's now able to text, smile and communicate with loved ones. odom's estranged wife khloe kardashian has been by his side the entire time. new this morning police are crediting georgia tech students with saving of life of one of their friends who went missing. >> james hubert i'm glad you're all right, buddy. >> jimmy hubert vanished friday night after leaving a fraternity party. his friends knew something was wrong and used the find my iphone feature to track his home. they found hubert lying in a ditch badly injured. he's now recovering in the hospital as you can see there. he told friends a group of homeless men beat and mugged him after he left the party. police are investigating that claim. >> a jury acquitted the contractor involved in the deadly center city building

collapse of murder but he still faces significant jail time. jurors did convict griffen campbell of involuntary manslaughter and reckless endangerment. six people were killed and 13 others were injured in the 2013 disaster including maria plekan whose body was maimed. her lawyer calls the verdict bittersweet. >> it's bittersweet. on the one hands she's great the appreciative of what the jurors did and the finding she made. she's very happy for that. on the other hand she's looking forward to having the day when we get everybody into the courtroom. everyone who played a role in this terrible tragedy. >> a judge will sentence campbell in january. the civil case against him is set to start in september of next year. >> time now is 5:47 and star wars mania is taking over. >> plus, a night of iconic dances on "dancing with the stars" had one star sticking out like someone with two left feet. david.

starting on the burlington bristol bridge. overnight construction tonight from 9 p.m. to midnight. they'll have some restrictions. then they close it down entirely for four hours from midnight tonight until 4 a.m. you have to stick to the turnpike connector bridge instead. they'll do the same thing on thursday night so you really want to watch for that, dave. don't want to get stuck with that bridge being closed. >> chilly in the northern and western suburbs this morning karen but remember yesterday you were in the 20's in a lot of these spots so it's a little better when most of us are in the low 40's. 41 in pottstown, 42 in chester, center city still in the mid 40's. across the river in south jersey starting to get up into the low 40's and 50's closer you get to the shore. low to mid 40's up and down the state of delaware. if you're dressing the kids you have to bundle them up early and i've got a penn state sweatshirt. we'll root for penn state as our college of the morning on the way in but this afternoon we'll get milder and t-shirts might almost work. running errands? you might want to wait until later today. 47 by 9 o'clock but by noon 61 and by 3 o'clock 68 degrees
