the first service member to die in the campaign in iraq against isis. he was freed west of kirkuk, one said the soldier was killed in a fire fight at the scene. and now lease are looking for the driver of a hit and run in delaware county, the victim was driving his bike when he was struck on wilmington, westchester pike in glen mills. katherine scott joins us with the latest. >> reporter: police say that the victim is 51 years old, he is expected to survive but has serious head trauma. they tell me he rides his bike to work from wilmington to chadds ford just about every day, but today on his way to

work someone hit him and took off. chopper 6 hd was overhead after this hit and run crash in glen mills, police say that 6:20 this morning, a 51-year-old man was riding his bike north of naaman's creek, when a sedan swerved and hit him. >> the driver swerved back into the left lane and continued traveling southbound on route 202. >> a witness stopped and called 911. investigators say he was not wearing a helmet and the bike was illuminated with blinking lights on the front and back. >> even though it was dark the bike should have been illuminated with those lights. >> the only trips they have to go on so far of the vehicle, an older model, silver sedan possibly a dodge neon, but they are looking for tips if you have

any and looking for surveillance footage in the area. we are live in media, katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. in wilmington a man is in critical condition after being shot in the wilmington section of the city, police say he was shot in the chest on middle eary avenue. police are looking for the gunman and believe that the suspect left the scene in a silver sedan would out of plate license plates. friends and family gather to remember the toddler who was killed. the funeral for brendon creato. investigators are still working to determine how creato died. yesterday they said there was no sign of forced entry at the home he was last seen and no indication he was sexually

really good, 68 in philadelphia currently and allentown 71 and the new number in trenton is 69 and 70 in millville, new jersey, winds are not all that strong yet and we are expecting the numbers to bump up a little bit and running 7 to 14 miles per hour on average across the region this afternoon. if you want to head out to the playground, are you picking a great day to do that or anything else outdoors. by 2:00, 75, and no worse than partly sunny skies and mild conditions, i want to remind you that the 78 is close to the record high of 83 today, but when you think about the topsy-turvy weather we have had, it's typical for october and october overall is looking average, the highs this month range from a cool 53 all the way up to 80 but when you look at the average hourly temperature, a little below 60, and the

we are following a developing story from sweden this noon where there has been a deadly attack inside of a school. authorities say that a knife-wielding man walked into the school and stabbed a teacher and three students, the teacher and one of the students died and then the suspect was shot to death by police it's not yet clear what prompted the attack. we'll bring you updated as we get them. another church is set on fire in the st. louis area, this is the seventh blaze in two weeks, police say that someone used an accelerant to ignite the doors of a downtown shrine.

no one was there at the time. all the churches were a few miles away from each other in largely black neighborhoods, but the fire today involved a church farther away and the congregation is mostly white. friends and family of a man killed by an undercover officer in florida gathered for a peace rally in florida. corey jones, a drummer in a church band broke down on the way home from a gig and officers say that he was investigating local burkerys when he stopped to check what he thought was an abandoned vehicle, he was not in uniform and driving an unmarked vehicle. jones was in possession of an unregistered handgun. a 1-year-old's dad took this

video as they busted into the building, he could hear her cripes coming from inside, the day care is not commenting on what happened. the little girl is now happily at home with her parents and they have no plans to enroll her in any day care ever again. there is a newcomer on sesame street, a preschooler with autism, the preschooler named julia is hoping to take the stigma out of it. she will be in digital and printed story books. still to come on "action news" at noon, a long time runner is gearing up for the rock and roll marathon despite a recent battle with a rare cancer. when "action news" continues.

. federal regulators are once again taking up the topic of defebtive airbags today. the meeting with the highway administration got underway this morning to talk about repairs to inflatables in vehicles, about 1.4 millionaire bags have been recalled and eight people have

died worldwide because of exploding inflaters and 100 have been injured. >> a new study is raising concern about voice commands built into vehicles even though the technology allows drivers to keep their hans on the wield it's distracting, it takes drivers 27 seconds to return to full attention to return to voice command to turn on the radio or perform other tasks, a vehicle going 25 miles per hour could travel the length of three football fields by the time the driver is distracted. health check, researchers did a new study on knee replacement surgery, they find that the surgery gives more pain relief to people than physical therapy alone. 70% of patients reports improvement. however there are more

complications including the risk of infection. next saturday is philadelphia's rock and roll half marathon to raise money for cancer research. tamala edwards meets one runner with a personal stake in the race. >> jim has run for 30 years and has covered a lot of ground. >> i have run 17 marathons and about 20 half marathons and dozens of 10 ks and 5-k's. having celebrated his 66th birthday his goals are bigger. i want to run a marathon, one in each state, i want to be the oldest to finish a marathon, that is 100. >> his shoulder was hurting and found a bulge in the neck, it shows the area was filled with

meteorologist, david murphy, we dragged him back inside now for a closer look at the forecast. we don't blame you david. >> it was beautiful out there, just like yesterday, a degree or two milder. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows us that we are dry as we take a look outside. lots of sunshine across the region and a few high clouds streaking in from the north northwest. but still nice and bright in atlantic city and looking south at the coastline. sunglasses all around, temperature is 68 in philadelphia and getting up into the 70s before too much longer, winds out of the west at 7 miles per hour. a gentle breeze overall. 69 in trenton and reading and 70 in millville and 73 inland at the airport at atlantic city. as we take a look at the satellite image again, clouds are getting thicker and we think there will be a fair amount of sunshine for the afternoon and

eventually later this evening and clouds get thicker and could be showers or sprinkles around and the lehigh valley is looking good, nice and warm with a high of 76 degrees, milder than yesterday, yesterday we were stuck in the 60s in many shore communities, today we go for 74 in atlantic city and maybe a degree or two cooler in cape may, in philadelphia, going for a beautiful high of 78 degrees sun mixing with high clouds and winds running southwest averaging 7 to 14 miles per hour, and overnight tonight, partly cloudy and a chance of a shower here or there. most of us stay dry and 52 is the overnight low, and winds easing back a bit from the northwest, 5 to 10 miles per hour. for the evening commute, it's still sun glass worthy with partly to mostly sunny skies and clouds knocking out the sun for a bit but you can open up the

windows on the way home. 78 by 4:00 and by 7:00 not bad 68 degrees on the breezy side. tomorrow we have a frontal boundary coming through with the clouds and the spotty shower tonight, it's going to wind out down to the south of us, sunny and cool conditions in the meantime, winds running 7 to 14 miles per hour and breezy and 62 is all you will see for a high, in terms of future tracker 6 on the way to the cool down we have clouds by 7:00 and again any chance of a sprinkle not all that much and the big story is the cooler air coming in for tomorrow and that stays in with us for the first half of the weekend, the exclusive accuweather forecast, still warm today, a pleasant high of 78 degrees, clouds increasing a little bit and a slight chance of a spotty shower late tonight and tomorrow lots of sunshine behind the system, sunny and cooler, 62 is all you will see for a high, bright and cool on
