"action news" reporter dann cuellar live at the scene of the accident and you have the full story. >> that's right, jim. police say they received over 100 tips after the accident took the life. candle and balloons near where he was killed while trying to pick up candy he dropped. the man they charged in the fatal hit-and-run accident identified as royce atkins. and they say that atkins confessed with an interview with detectives this morning. >> and atkins admitted to striking boy and leaving the scene. >> and the boy is identified as
darious condash. and he and a frent crossed a road after buying candy at a convenience store. he dropped some candy and turned to pick it up. >> when he did, he was struck by a northbound vehicle. >> and a driver reported it after he was suspicious after seeing damage to the front of atkins's car. and they said he offered no information. >> and condash a member of the peewee sports team and they wore his number on their helmets. regarding the family and his arrest. >> obviously they are relieved. they are still grieving. and it was a little bit of closure for them. >> royce atkins has been charged with an accident involving personal injury or death. it is a charge that can get him up to 10 years in prison if convicted. tonight he is held in lieu of
