>> we have my least favorite weather condition. that would be the wind dave murphy. karen rogers has a look at traffic. >> a lot of that across the region. rain right now is about halfway through the area. philadelphia very close to seeing the and of the raindrops. south jersey it will only be probable another hour or maybe hour and a half before this gets over to the coast and pushes out but strong winds are beginning to build in behind this. and even though temperatures are mild we're already seeing those numbers drop a little bit. a half hour ago we were at 56 degrees in philadelphia. now down to 53. starting to get the 40's in the poconos and lancaster and we're actually looking at temperatures plunging as that cold wind comes in from the west-northwest this morning so don't be fooled by the mild air you're encountering right out the door currently. it is going to get a lot cooler, maybe even i was the way down into the 30's a little bit later this morning. 30 is your current wind gust in philadelphia. we now have a gust of 40 in reading and i think these higher gusts that you see out west are going to build their way in. we could see some gusts as high as 45. as that cold front comes in
and that wind pushes in behind that rain. and even in the afternoon when the winds aren't quite as strong it will still be pretty blustery. heading out to the drive way or bus stop rain is in the process of ending over the next hour or so but we are looking at those gusty winds and i'm expecting those temperatures to fall into the 40's by about 6 o'clock and possibly down into the 30's after that. generally speaking during the afternoon we'll be in the low to mid 40's with a high of 44 probably around 2 o'clock. but it is going to be blustery. we are going to see some sun come back. we've got some light snow on the way thursday night into friday, karen. details on that coming up. >> all right, well for now we're driving through a lot of rain 19 spots where the rain has ended you'll be dooling with hydroplaning and large areas of puddles. take it easy out there. looking live on the schuylkill expressway right now traffic moving nicely at montgomery. we see westbound traffic moving fine with no problem. on 95 as we switch our camera view to approaching cottman that's southbound traffic headed towards -- southbound traffic moving just fine headed towards center city
looking good at this point. we've got light volume but you're dealing with a lot of water on the roadway n lower gwynedd township watch for an accident. we've seen a couple already this morning with the wet roads so slow it down. this one on bethlehem pike at locust lane. matt and tam. >> karen thank you. breaking right now a fast moving fire left a woman critically injured this morning. it broke out on the 5900 block of north lambert street in logan at 2:30 a.m. after putting out the the fire crews found a 60-year-old woman with burns and suffering from severe smoke inhalation. she was taken to the hospital and is in critical condition. much more on this story in a live report on "action news." a man is on the run after assaulting a philadelphia police officer. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live where it happened in the east oak lane neighborhood to fill us in on the investigation. annie. >> reporter: matt, police responded to the apartment behind me after getting a 911 call about a domestic dispute that had involved a man with a
gun. now, at this hour they do not have that man in custody but think who they're looking for. the man who fit the description from the 911 call was on the front porch and refused to put his hands in the air according to police and also according to police became combative, punched the officer and even fell over the railing during the tussle. >> after falling to the ground, the male continued to kick the officer. the male got up and fled on foot. he ran west on godfrey, then north through the parking lot. police went into foot pursuit. however, they lost sight of the male behind the apartments at 100 east godfrey. >> reporter: and back out here live police say that they did have k-9 units looking for the man for a short advertisement thtime.the rain dr
search. they know the identity of the man they hope to have him in custody soon. reporting live from east oak lane annie mccormick channel6 "action news." >> new on "action news" a woman is in police custody. authorities say she stabbed two people during a brutal brawl. fight broke out between two groups of people just after 1:00 this morning on the 900 block of market street in center city. police say the woman stabbed two men. those men were taken to jefferson know stable condition. there's no word on what charges the woman may face or what sparked that brawl. >> ♪ >> hillary clinton and donald trump tighten their grips on the democratic and republican nomination fight. >> now they won in most of the states on super tuesday. >> clinton won primaries and caucuses in seven states. bernie sanders her democratic rival secured wins in four states including his home state of vermont. republican candidate trump has won at least seven states and in fact that's the total we know, seven. both clinton and trump's
campaigns are moving past the primaries and focusing on each other. >> i am a unifier. once we get all of this finished, i'm going to go after one person, that's hillary clinton. >> instead of building walls, we're going to break down barriers. >> the field remains divided. donald trump -- >> after big wins in texas, oklahoma and just coming in a little while ago alaska cruz says it's time for other republicans to rally around him to beat trump. marco rubio won his first state of the primary in minnesota. he insists his campaign is in it for the long haul. >> brand new, a bucks county man who was under suspicion of assaulting a child is now behind bars. warminster police arrested 20-year-old daniel meyer without incident at a wal-mart yesterday. police charged meyer with aggravated indecent assault and related offenses stemming from two incidents back in january. police say both incidents involved a child. meyer is being held on $300,000 bond. police release this video of a violent assault at a septa station in the city's
kensington section. you see a man attacking a woman with a knife leading to the elevator on saturday morning. the woman system listed in stable condition. police are hoping someone recognizes that man in the video. >> happening today the philadelphia water department will hold another public hearing on a proposed rate hike. most residents will pay about $4.20 more a month starting in july. another roughly four dollars a month rise would kick in by july of 2017. the rate increase if approved would pay more water main repairs. >> the rain is really coming down in some isolate the locations. >> sure s moving out fortunately also windy out there. storm tracker6 live double scan shows you that the rain is centered mainly over the eastern half of the area and you can really see that heavy downpour that matt talked about moving into cape may county, cumberland county, atlantic county is going to get it before two longer. at the same time you see some drying in philadelphia and wilmington and it won't be that much longer, maybe another hour, 90 minutes or
so, something like that and this will be mainly over by the coast and getting ready to leave us. as we take a look outside we have wet conditions out there. even at the airport in philadelphia where we are now seeing the rain wind down. and next issue buildings the wind and dropping temperatures. currently most our numbers are fairly mild. 53 degrees in philadelphia but that represents a pretty big drop over the last couple hours. notice how we're starting to pick up the 40's in lancaster and colder sir a going to be sweeping in from the west the next couple hours. we're also looking at breaks in this cloud cover, too. then we expect to transition to a lot of sun later on today. the lehigh valley looks at lots of sun later in the afternoon but gusty winds and an afternoon high probably only getting back up to about 42. now, your daily high is going to be in the 50's everywhere because that's where we are right now but i'm forecasting for what you can expect later in the day. at the shore this afternoon probably about 44, mostly sunny, but gusty winds in store. and in philadelphia we may get
back up to about 44 degrees by 2 o'clock and then down into the upper 30's by dinnertime. sun returns but gusty winds. how about that, gusting as high as 45 miles per hour right behind this front and even this afternoon a gust of over 30 is not out of the question. then overnight tonight 27 degrees, partly cloudy, brisk and colder. the winds still running about 10 to 20 miles per hour overnight. tomorrow it looks like we only get up to about 39 with clouds increasing and at night this frontal boundary arrives and it's colds enough to give us a little bit of light snow. as we take a look at future tracker6 you can see that we're still dry by 6:30 but it's late at night at 11 o'clock, midnight where we start to see some patchy light snow. this continues overnight into friday morning where during the morning hours we might even mix with a little bit of rain. we are looking at some accumulation but only one of our main models right now has it significant at two and a half and not that that's a horrible snow but it's a little bit more than the rest of these models. i think in general we can probably counter on something like a half inch up to an inch or two in most areas by the
time this wraps up tomorrow morning. your exclusive accuweather 7-day, we're probably dropping into the 40's pretty quickly today and then eventually into the 30's and 20's later tonight. sunshine returning that rain in the process of moving out over the next couple of hours. brisk and chilly on thursday with a high of 39 and friday in the morning we've got that light snow maybe mixing with a little rain and an afternoon high of 39 degrees. on saturday some improvement, a high of 45. sunday a morning rain or snow shower possible and then a nice high of 48 or nicer anyway. and that milder trend really continues next week. wooer going for a high of 56 on monday and partly sunny. how do you like 68 tuesday? and kids, i think before the end of next week it's possible we're going to get 70 on the thermometer. >> winter is definitely over. >> i wouldn't -- >> pretty much. >> it is looking like a really nice mild trend. >> thanks, david. all new on "action news" tearful testimony. spores caster erin andrews reveals what she does while

lit up at this early hour. it's 52 degrees and in many areas it's really raining heavily right now. >> and that could impact your commute. let's go on over to karen rogers. she's got what it's looking like out there. good morning. >> doing a little hydroplaning coming in. we have so much water on the roadways, even in areas where it's no longer raining i think you'll find that it's an issue. we're looking at trooper at audubon rood. seeing traffic moving move okay. you can see on the side roads large puddles you'll be driving through so be careful. we have lots of potholes out there. it's all a bad combination. slow it down as you head out because the roads they're wet. in lower gwynedd an accident bethlehem pike at locust lane so watch for an accident that's been causing some problems. on this we'll see a handful of accidents out there because of the wet roads. this is 42 and you can kind of see even at this early hour traffic moving just a little bit more slowly than it normally would and it's still raining pretty good right here on 42. we have an issue here in delaware, east newport pike at maryland avenue. we've got an accident here near wilmington and westbound
it's been closed entirely. stick to christian street. eastbound newport pike has reopened in that area. i want to show you storm tracker6 live double scan because you can see that heavy rain that was in our western suburbs move through the city is now mostly in new jersey but in some spots you're really getting it good. with double scan we can slow you exactly where and you see these heavier bands of yellow and red on 49 in millville, 55 traveling towards glassboro, 322, route 40 you're getting it swells cherry hill you had heavier cells that just moved through. currently on 295 and in trenton near i-95 so slow it down. it's very mild to start us off right now but cooler air coming in later, tam. >> thank you karen. new her on "action news" two people were killed when an suv slammed into a crowded pizza shop outside of boston. officials say the vehicle never stopped as it careened down the street and then barreled into that building. seven people including the driver were injured, three of them seriously. police have not released any information about the two people who were killed or if the driver in this case is
going to be charged. >> also new on "action news" a police report conducted by the lapd find when officers fire their weapons they are disproportionately aiming at black citizens or the mentally ill. the police department released the most comprehensive data on use of force ever compiled by the agency. the report shows 35 percent of people who were wounded in police shootings between 2011 and 2015 were black. african-americans make up 9 percent of the city's population. the number of mentally ill shot by police increased from five in 2014 to 14 last year. members of congress attempted to name a winston, salem, north carolina post office after activist and poet maya angelou but nine republicans voted against the mostly symbolic gesture. they say their opposition was due to angelou being a communist sympathizer. angelou died in 2014. president obama gave her the presidential medal of freedom in 2011. >> we are hearing more emotional testimony from
sportscaster erin andrews. she told the court how her life has been turned upside down with constant concern after naked pictures of her surfaced online. andrews testified yesterday that she remains on guard every time she stays in a hotel and that she doesn't know if she will ever get over the emotional fallout from a stalker secretly taking videos of her in the nude. the stalker was able to get the videos by altering her hotel room door peephole. >> for i look for red lights, i like look to see if there's camera, i check the bed, the alarm clock. i check the phone. >> andrews has filed a $75 million lawsuit against her stalker and the owner and operator of the nashville marriott in vander builder in tennessee. >> the eagles and quarterback sam bradford have agreed to a two year deal. espn is reporting the deal is worth $36 million, with $26 million guaranteed. bradford could have waited to test the free agent market next week but the market for

>> in the morning buzz, here at the big board last night of course around 9 o'clock last night donald trump came out had a big press conference to note his big super tuesday wins. new jersey governor chris christie nearly stole the show not necessarily in a good way. look at the look on his face. onlookers noted that christie looked more couldn't flicked not jubilant and they pointed out that often christie was look and down, offer into the distance almost some thought like he wanted to split the scene. within minutes the #free chris christie began to appear on twitter. the rolling stones say they'll play a free concert in cuba later this month. it will be the biggest act to play there since the 1959 revolution.
the stones will play in havana or march 25th three days after president barack obama visits the cuban capitol. the concert is expected to draw a massive audience in a country where the government once persecute thed young people for listening to rock music.
