5:00 a.m., friday, march 4 we're working on several breaking and developing stories. a killer is on the run after attacking a south philadelphia restaurant employee with a knife while customers were inside. breaking right now, investigators in burlington county are searching for the cause of a deadly fire in wrightstown. parts of the region are getting brushed with snow even a little bit of rain, spring-like weather is not that far away. "action news" reporter, annie mccormick is live in south jersey with more on the messy commute there. let's go over to david
murphy. >> reporter: okay be so we are off to a snowy start across the region. as expected this is a light nuisance snow, in fact as you look at areas in philadelphia and trenton and wilmington, this is breaking up, light shades of gray, a lot of holes in the action and with temperatures just below the freezing mark any surface that's been treated is just wet. not a horrible commute. you want to take it slow on the side streets or places you didn't get the pretreatment. in south jersey it's filling in a little bit more and wilmington, it's more of the same. you can see the brighter shades of white. you can see the snow break up during the the morning commute in and around the i-95 corridor. it will take until lunch time to get off the coast. generally speaking we're going for a coating to an inch. as we look at the wide view back edge of the snow around washington and baltimore falling apart. the winter weather advisory is expected to expire around
9:00 a.m. around the region above the line i'm drawing there. down the shore it could be 1:00 p.m. before the advisory expires. we're below freezing just barely in philadelphia. 31 in there. 29 in trenton, 28 in allentown. 29 in reading, 29 in millville. down the shore just below the freezing mark, anything that's not treated maybe a little bit slick. heading to the bus stop, snow showers, 30 degrees by 6:00 a.m. 32 by 8:00 a.m. but it looks like we get above freezing in a hurry today. 9:00 a.m., 34. 11:00, 37. we're starting to met the snow on the grass, 40 degrees by 1:00 p.m. the high today, 42. getting windier today. karen are how are the roads. we have an accident i-95 police and penndot are blocking all lanes. i-95 southbound is slowing down
with the accident blocking the two right lanes, everybody has to get over on the left-hand side, be careful about that, looking live on the vine street secrets way. we have noticed a bunch of workers, police and penndot on the scene. they have fixed the light and traffic is moving fine on the vine street expressway. this is in order broad at spring garden, you can see across the camera here, the snow blowing across the roadway. however not sticking to the road, it's just wet. how about the sidewalks, they are wet. there's the snowy scene, as well. you get a better look at it under the light. it looks kind of pretty here, broad street and madson ford road. you can see how it's accumulating on the grassy surface, but not on the pavement. the accident brigantine connector herrion avenue, is
moving better. annie mccormick is live in runnymede, camden county with a look at the conditions in south jersey. hey, annie. >> reporter: hey, matt, it's a little colder now we're seeing the flakes looking like rain, i want to give you a look at the streetlight, you can see how big the flakes we're talking about and how quickly they are moving. this video from runnymede off the black horse showing the snow that has fallen. the crews that have been out all night putting salt on the roads. the roads are wet, you can see the shots of car dealership threats snow on top. that's about as much snow you'll see, just like karen was saying on the grassy surfaces and sidewalks and your car. route 70 in cherry hill looking ago. they had snow falling they are looking good. we caught up with people this

wrightstown. crews believe several people were trapped inside the house, they got the fire out, when they made their way inside, they found a victim. no word on what sparked the fire or confirmation that it was the fire that led to that victim's dead. police are on the hunt for the person responsible for the brutal murder of a restaurant worker. katherine scott is live at the scene of the crime on the 500 block of washington avenue with the very latest. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, police have not said if there are any suspects, they don't know what the motive was, but the 354-year-old cook who works at the vietnamese and chinese restaurant was found murdered in the kitchen. the restaurant was open. there were customers and employees in the restaurant when the body was found. there's takeout on the first floor and restaurant on the second floor. there's a dumb waiter device that moves the food up the
floors. police and medics were called to lee's cafe and bistro on washington avenue in south philadelphia around 9:00 p.m. they found the woman downstairs on the floor, her throat was the slashed. she was pronounced around 9:15. there were signs of a struggle in that kitchen. obvious signs of a violent struggle. pieces of equipment were knocked over. piece of equipment was laying on her body. she had bruises to her face. >> reporter: and police are conducting interviews at this time, they are reviewing surveillance footage from nearby businesses, even though the murder happened inside the restaurant. they think there could clues someone coming or going around the time this happened. we're live in south philadelphia, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." thank you for that, katherine. happening philadelphia mayor jim kenny will kick off 2016 philadelphia flower show.

around philadelphia and trenton is getting this, a lot of holes in the action around the i-95 corridor. with temperatures below the freezing mark anything that's salted and pretreated is wet this morning. some side streets may be giving you trouble. i have to say in delaware county when i stepped out the door, a couple of hours back, the sidewalks were wet. down in south jersey, every now and then we get a brighter shade of white and lavender as the scan comes through and shows you south of atlantic city, maybe around stone harbor. even those these areas are decent road condition wise. the tail end of this is back around baltimore, we'll see this break apart as we go through the morning commute. down the shore you're stuck with it a little bit longer. as we step outside we have wet conditions on i-95. traffic getting along okay in most places, karen rogers will
be along in a couple of minutes to tell you if there is any exception to that rule. 31 degrees in philadelphia. just blow freezing, winds out of the east/northeast at 8 miles per hour. windchill, 23. bundle up as you head out. numbers below freezing everywhere except beach haven and dover where you are on the freezing mark. as we take a look at future tracker 6, though, between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m., most of the snow in the immediate region is getting out of here, we'll have to be careful for slick spots. 9:00 a.m., so a.m., everybody is above freezing even down the shopper where wet snow may be hanging in until around lunchtime. we're in the 40s after that. it's a day where we melt what we have gotten this morning. 42 in philadelphia. 42 in wilmington. same story in allentown. a little bit cooler and windy down the shore. all we are expecting is a coating to an inch.
up north we'll have high sun angle everything will melt soon. we have a blustery wind building in philadelphia and stronger winds airline long the coast, 40 to 45 miles per hour not out of the question there. our next precipitation event is saturday night into sunday morning. it's blossoms of snow showers and rain showers, these are off the map quickly on sunday morning. not a big deal. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, snow will be ending early across the region. sun later, windy, 42. tomorrow a bit milder, 450, spotty rain and snow showers at night into sunday morning. otherwise, sun back on sunday, high of 48. we are off to the races here come the flowers, 60 degrees on monday, turning milder there. partly sunny and up to 70. that will be the first time we hit the 70s skins christmas eve.

approaching cottman. what do you know we caught it live as it happens. seeing the crews leave the scene, traffic is moving better on i-95 southbound at cottman. here's a shot of the ben franklin bridge, we see 5-mile an hour is speed restrictions. we have speed restricts on the walt whitman bridge, they added that to the list. ben franklin bridge, the betsy ross bridge and the commodor barry bridge. new jersey turnpike we're seeing 45-mile an hour speed restrictions there so be careful as you head out. on the the boulevard we're looking live at fox street. it's hard to tell from the shot light snow falling, we're mostly wet and we're seeing people move okay. i want to show you storm tracker 6 live double scan, you can see we have light snowfall blanketing much of the region. in the northwest suburbs it's light and flurries. south and east of the city, as expected, you can see the brighter shades of white in
dover, salem, millville and route 40 and hammonton and glass borough and medford lakes. on the coastline, the snow is coming down pretty good, but only a coating to an inch. detectives are putting out the word on a theft at a high end could thing store in rittenhouse square. three burglars smash the windows, they took $1,000 in merchandise and fled in a blue -- $12,000 in merchandise and fled in a blue vehicle. it is believed they cased the store before pulling off the heist. new york women are halting the tan -- tamupon tax. surveys show that women in new york state paid $14 million on feminine hygiene products every year. a california wrestler wants
