dry this afternoon satellite6 and action radar slowing this little shower in motion. so we've got a weak disturbance and maybe you see a sprinkle or two moving through during your morning commute. hasn't quite hit philadelphia just yet but on its way during the morning commute and beyond that the clouds are going to break for sunshine and we've got a nice one coming your way. 47 degrees already. 45 in reading, 43 in millville. you might remember it was in the 20's in some of these spots yesterday morning. so, it's a much nicer much milder morning at least. 71 for your high after the morning shower we're going to see brighter skies and a wind out of the south-southwest six to 12 miles an hour so only a bit of a breeze. it's going to feel pretty good. why not go to the playground if you can and so bright sky today, about 21 degrees above average. at 1 o'clock it will be 67. by 4:00 p.m., 70 degrees so temperatures soaring even better than this in the next couple days. details in just a few minutes matt. >> i need to pack away the wool ties. >> it's time. and the long johns. >> we like that. good morning to you, karen.
good morning, everybody. for now things are nice and dry here in northeast philadelphia. along 95 no extra overnight construction here in the ongoing work zone by cottman avenue. southbound traffic headed towards center city is moving just fine with speeds in the 50's. no issues at this point on the schuylkill but again, getting there on the ramp from the boulevard southbound to 76 westbound still have that dv on the shoulder. police out there alerting you to it this morning. and our crash in camden has been confirmed. it's in the southbound lanes of 676 approaching collings avenue. so watch out for the emergency crews responding there. and we're getting word of a new accident in burlington county involving an overturned vehicle. reports of this coming in on 295 southbound at 130 bordentown. watch out for the emergency crews there as well. but our overnight work on the new jersey turnpike that i mentioned during the last report has cleared out so everything is reopened there. maintenance work on the burlington bristol bridge, triple b has also cleared. crews return tonight at 9 o'clock and just one lane of alternating traffic will get by.
if you take the betsy ross bridge toward philadelphia watch out, right lane is blocked as well as the ramp to richmond street in the city so that's closed until further notice for construction work. matt. >> thank you, matt. and new jersey state troop here was struck by a vehicle on 295 remains hospitalized this morning. authorities updated the trooper's status overnight telling "action news" he is in serious condition. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live outside the bellmawr barracks where the trooper works. >> reporter: we're told that trooper has been based out of the bellmawr barracks for about a year now. his name has not been released. he was on duty last night when this occurred. now, what exactly happened last night on 295 in west deptford remains under investigation but we do know he was rushed to the hospital with very serious injuries. >> we have reports of a trooper that was struck by a vehicle. >> reporter: it start wade car fire on 295 south near exit 24a in west deptford a trooper from the bellmawr
barracks responded around 8:00 p.m. as fire trucks arrived the trooper was struck by a vehicle. >> trooper is down. we got a trooper down. >> reporter: all southbound lanes were shut down for the police investigation. it's unclear whether the passing car hit the trooper correct otroop orknocked the sto glim still breathing. >> reporter: a medical helicopter transported the trooper to cooper university hospital in serious condition. and the driver of the striking vehicle did remain on the scene. we're also told that two other people were taken to the hospital but we did not -- we were not told their conditions. this all remains under investigation. we are waiting for an update from the state police this morning. we are live from bellmawr, katherine scott channel6 "action news." tam. >> thank you for that katherine. it is 5:04. surveillance pictures of a suspect wanted for a shooting in atlantic city. the shooting happened on february 21st in the 1400 block of caspian avenue. one man was wounded.
if you think you know who this is atlantic city police would like you to call them. in wilmington police are also investigating a shooting that sent children at a park scrambling for safety an stray bullet into somebody's home fortunately it didn't get inside is that the family was not hurt. >> two delaware county parents are under arrest accused of leaving their three-year-old child alone in deplorable conditions. police pulled over the child's father stanley hampton in tredyffrin township yesterday. that led authorities to the regency apartments on creek drive in radnor where the child was all alone. police add the home was covered in trash and the burners on the stove were turned up full toilette the apted. both hampton and the mother brittany mcfadden have been charged recklessly endangering the welfare avenue child.
>> an accused child molester is back in jail. 63-year-old douglas kohen was out on bail on sunday when he fired six shots into a mobile home next to where he lives in downingtown. inside the home was the girl he is accused of abusing can which landed him in jail in the first place. kohen is charged with attempted murder in addition to the initial charges of sexual abuse. >> septa's plan to expand the high speedline into king of prussia met with excitement and concern. septa met to address those concerns. the transit agency says the expansion would add 9,000 riders a day but the path would run next to 25 homes along the turnpike. another meeting is planned for tomorrow and then there's another one next tuesday. >> these showers going to be a big deal when they reach our area. >> no, you're just going to be driving through them. i think the big deal is the nice temperatures. let's take a look at storm tracker6 live double scan.
we see a few showers here or there. they're even breaking apart as they head closer but we can go in a little tighter with storm m tracker6 double scan. watch for this out near coatesville, it will be heading towards your area. a little passing showers one or two spots through the morning hours. let's take a look outside and see wait looks like. along with the showers we've got clouds to start you off but the clouds are going to break up this afternoon and we're going have a nice and mild afternoon ahead. let's look at the current numbers through the region. how about that temperature? 47 degrees, not too shabby. we were in the 20's yesterday in some spots. the dewpoint 7737 degrees. the atmosphere is not entirely moist tend up but it's on its way. winds out of the west-southwest. a mild flow today and those temperatures soaring well above average. visibility not an issue right now. satellite6 and action radar showing that we've got these showers. you can see them in motion.
on this wider image you get the idea. this is a pretty weak disturbance. this is not a real beau big impact for us. watch for driving through a little bit avenue passing shower. we're seeing a good amount of cloud cover, too, the clouds breaking up a little later on. the high 71 degrees. by 8:00 a.m. we're already at 50 with lots of clouds, maybe a sprinkle coming through. i think we're dry at 10:00 a.m., 62 degrees. clouds starting to break up a little bit more. by noon, 66 degrees, lots of sunshine mixing with the clouds, it's a brighter afternoon feeling good. by 3:00 p.m., 71, not too bad for this time of year. temperatures well above average. by 5:00 p.m. coming down from that and 69 degrees. we have this high pressure to thank for a string of mild days coming up. so starting off with lots of clouds, turning rather bright, 21 degrees above average today with his thigh kind of acting like a heat pump allowing that southwesterly flow to pump up the mild air. record warmth tomorrow, 78 degrees for your high. we normally see those numbers at the end of may. not too bad.

70 degrees. >> hard to believe in march but we'll take it. let's go over to matt pelman see what your tuesday morning commute is looking like. good morning. >> starting out better, ending up better. things are really looking up for us aren't they. good morning matt and tam on this tuesday morning also looking up on the traffic front. no huge accidents at this point this morning. we're live in exton, chester county along 100 at commerce drive by the main street exton shopping complex. so far so good. it's still dry at this point. those showers haven't come through yet there. go a couple southbound cars toward the route 30 bypass moving along just swimmingly. but, but the construction crews are still out in a few spots like on the northeast extension southbound side between lansdale and mid-county. blocking a couple of lanes. should be out of there before too long. going to be doing some patching work today in delco along 322. long stretch between route one baltimore pike and 95. usually a busy stretch. so, from 9:00 until 3:00 during the midday today watch out for those crews and some possible delays because they will be blocking a lane.
crossing over the state line on 495 southbound between 95, the split and edgemoor road some overnight work is still blocking its left lane until 6 o'clock so about another 45 minutes of that. we do have reports of an overturned vehicle accident this morning in burlington county. southbound side of 295 right at 130 the exit for bordentown so we're working to gather more details on that but just heads up on that. you may want to stay on 130 instead of 295 this morning. and on 206 in mercer county an update on this, that bridge work that had closed 206 entirely has wrapped up for the most part but trucks are still restricted. they can't travel between carter and elm roads. time for the commuter report brought to you by the waze app and, oh, yes, it is pothole season and so another pothole reported on the ramps connecting 676 the vine street expressway with eighth street. watch out for. that otherwise no big problems in the city this morning. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. going on now, the pentagon has revealed that it used both
drones and hand aircraft to attack an al-shabaab training cam in somalia on saturday and that that killed 150 militant fighters. officials say the terrorists were preparing to launch a large scale attack likely against african or u.s. personnel. funeral services for nancy reagan will be held at the reagan library in california on friday morning. the former first lady will lie in repose at the library tomorrow and throws. she dived heart failure on sunday at her home in los angeles. nancy reagan will then be buried next to her husband former president ronald reagan in simi valley. and distraught northeast pennsylvania woman has a message for whoever stole her purse. you can keep the cash but please return a couple of irreplaceable items. theresa bradley says someone swiped her purse while she was attending mass over the weekend. the purse contained her late mother's rosary an small urn holding some of her late husband's ashes. bradley says she doesn't care about the purse, she just wants those two items back, no
