from the media bypass right there and we can also see near wilmington you're getting a little bit of a sprinkle there but it's going to fall apart as it does, so no big worries with that. just a morning sprinkle lots of clouds give way to sunshine this afternoon. 47 degrees right now in philadelphia. it's already mild starting us off. feeling pretty good out there. satellite6 and action radar showing we do have lots of clouds. we're watch new york spotty sprinkle but the afternoon is really going to be great. we've got a high of 71 degrees coming about 3:00 p.m. here's how we're going get there. by 8:00 a.m. we're already at 50. by 10:00 a.m., lots of clouds and some sunshine and 62. more in the way of sunshine from noon on. we'll see a good amount of sunshine and some clouds, 66 at noon. by 3:00 p.m., 71 degrees. temperatures 21 degrees above average. so get out there and enjoy it. that's an order, matt pelman. but first you can do traffic. >> oh, thank, you're very generous. i would be happy to. we'll start with a look at the schuylkill expressway karen where this time yesterday morning things were going drastically downhill with that bad accident. this morning no accidents,
everything's opened and the eastbound traffic here headed toward montgomery drive is moving just fine. or maybe you're headed toward the vine which also looks fine so far on this tuesday morning. all lanes opened in both directions. overnight closures along the vine resume tomorrow, wednesday night starting right around 11 o'clock it will shut down in both directions but for now everything's opened and ready for you. but we are getting word of a new crash in cheltenham township along ashbourne road at new second treatment we'll be following. that our crash in camden in the southbound lanes of 676 approaching collings avenue, that's been pushed off to the side. so not such a big deal there. but there is still the overturned vehicle accident to watch out for in burlington county. southbound lanes of 295 at 130 bordentown the left lane is blocked. occupants of the vehicle are out of the vehicle but emergency crews are on the scene. if you want to use 130 or the new jersey turnpike they both look fine but 295 has those issues early on this tuesday morning. tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. a new jersey state trooper stopped at a scene on i-295
and then was hit by a vehicle himself. we're being told he's seriously hurt. we've been watching this story closely and gathering the latest details. let's go over to annie mccormack live outside cooper university hospital. that's where the officer is being treated. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tam. well, the accident happened last night. he was taken here. the trooper rather was taken here to cooper hospital. now aches want to show you some video that we took just within the past half hour. now, these are cruisers from new jersey state police and also camden county leaving the emergency room parking lot here at cooper hospital. now, those cruisers have been here since last night, since that trooper did arrive. but at this hour we are still not getting any updates from new jersey state police. the last update that we have gotten several hours ago was that the trooper is in serious condition. >> we have reports of a trooper that was struck by a vehicle. >> reporter: the emergency calls began flooding dispatch
after a new jersey state trooper was hit by a vehicle while responding to a car fire. >> trooper is down. we got a trooper down. >> reporter: monday night this all unfolded around 8:00 p.m. at 295 southbound between exit 24a and route 130 in west deptford. the trooper was so seriously injured a medical helicopter had to be dispatched to transport him to cooper medical center. minutes after that dramatic radio call, officers at the scene gave an update on the trooper. >> unconscious but still breathing. >> reporter: since the trooper's arrival at cooper hospital there's been a flood of support from his own brothers and sisters in blue and area law enforcement agencies and first responders. and again, you just saw at the beginning of that story a number of cruisers leaving the emergency room here at cooper hospital. we're still waiting on a lot of information from new jersey state police that also includes the name of the troop here was injured. we do know that for the past
year that trooper has worked out of the bellmawr barracks. now, there are also two civilians that were hurt, both women. we are told that one of those women was taken here to cooper hospital and another to an area hospital but we do not have conditions on them. for that now reporting live in camden, annie mccormack, channel6 "action news." >> annie, we know you'll keep an eye on it and give us the very latest as it comes in. from our delaware news room a cruel twist for a community that was already mourning a man killed in wilmington. a man was gunned down in that same spot last night. a vigil for friday's victim had just ended when the deadly gunfire rang out. police are now offering a $10,000 reward for tips in both of these homicides. >> 5:35 now. a woman and her two children were injured when a tow truck hit them at a north philadelphia intersection. the accident happened at b and ontario streets last night. police say it appears the tow truck driver had green light on b street as the 24-year-old woman tried to cross with her four-year-old and one-year-old. it is unclear if either the woman or the tow truck driver
saw one another. the accident left neighbors rattled. >> i cried. i didn't even know what to do 'cause earlier today i was walking with a friend and my son and i'm thinking like, wow, like that could even be me. >> a passerby rushed the children to the hospital while the truck driver stayed on the scene waiting for police and medics. the woman and one of the children are in critical condition. the other child is in stable. >> developing overnight, at least nine people were hurt when a commuter train derailed in central california. the pictures are striking. take a look at that. the front car plunged into a swollen creek in alameda county. crews will to fight the currents to get the people out in time. four of the injuries here are serious. the uninjured passengers were did you sayed to their defendanttation. the company canceled all train service on that line today. the cause of the derailment is still under investigation. >> four states will hold presidential primaries today. democrats go to the polls in mississippi and michigan. republicans also vote in those states plus in idaho and
hawaii. former new york mayor michael bloomberg announced will he not wage a third party bid. during a town hall in detroit, a relieved hillary clinton said she had great respect for the media mogul. rival bernie sanders said it is a bad thing for democracy when only the wealthy believe they can run for president. security removed protestors from a donald trump rallyly in mississippi yesterday. ted cruz was also in the magnolia state hoping to add to his contention that only he could defeat trump. marco rubio was focusing on next week's primary in his home state of florida where he currently trails trump in the polls. john kasich was in michigan where the ohio governor has been surging recently. >> interesting to see how today turns out. we will find out wearing shorts. >> yes, why not, right? injured in that accident. so i think cheltenham avenue and tookany creek parkway would be better bets than ashburn and new second street. several new bridge closures began yesterday. these are lasting until june. the oreland mill road bridge shut down over sunnybrook creek. in warrington bucks county the kansas road bridge over little neshaminy creek is now blocked until june so 611 your alternate around that. in new britain township schoolhouse road remains closed but that started last week. overnight construction that we had on the northeast extension southbound is out of the way. everything is reopened there and so far so good this morning here on 422 near oaks. no delays yet. they'll do some more shoulder work today between trooper and 23. that's during the mid day. time for the commuter report and our construction zone on 495 southbound between 95 and edgemoor road in the process of clearing out in the next 15 minutes but watch out for until 6:00 tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. israeli prime minister

probation check on sunday. her probation officer called 91911. >> officers eventually called off the chase because of safety concerns. trmin abandoned the mystery machine maybe for shaggy to pick it up and remains on the run. >> a father has proven there's nothing like parenting reflexes. he didn't flinch when it came time to stop a baseball bat from flying into his son's face. you can see how close it came though to hitting eight-year-old landon right in the kisser. he was texting pictures of the pirates-braves game to his mom and sister and didn't even realize he was in danger. a pittsburgh tribune sports photographer caught that split section reaction by dad. dad says his wrist hurts and the bat did hit landon in the shoulder but both of them are doing fine. they even got to keep the bat. >> fast twitch muscles come in handy. >> yeah.

>> a possible tornado ripped through the northern part of texas damaging at least seven homes. the storm triggered a tornado warning just after 6:00 last night. 50 to 60 miles per hour winds scattered debris across the highway and into cars but there are no reports of injuries. but look at that damage. >> wow. >> i was out in joplin, missouri a few years ago after they had the tornadoes i want to say 2011 or 2012.
year or two later it still looked like the tornado had just gone through. it takes so long to clean up. such a process. as we head outside this morning so far so good here along 95 coming southbound over the girard point bridge headed toward the airport. no complaints if you're taking to our good buddy ben, the ben franklin bridge he also is looking good this morning. westbound traffic headed toward center city is not encountering any problems. at the betsy ross bridge westbound we have construction in the right lane and the exit ramp to richmond street in port richmond is closed until further notice so you may find delays there. tacony palmyra bridge could be an alternate. no openings there yet this morning and overnight maintenance at the burlington bristol is out of the way. karen. >> we're tracking some showers that were headed towards our region and on storm tracker6 live double scan you can see they really fell apart. you have one shower that moved through reading and headed towards pottstown look for that. a few sprinkles near honey brook and downingtown and
malvern. what year seeing near doylestown and lansdale not reaching ground. a couple spotty sprinkles early clouds give way to sunshine this afternoon. 47 degrees right now in philadelphia. it is mild. and that's the big story, that temperatures today are going to be some 21 degrees above average. when you look at the 24 hour temperature change, it's 20 degrees warmer in philadelphia than it was at this point yesterday. 13 degrees warmer in philadelphia. 14 degrees warm interallentown. it's a big change in 24 hours. so, your high today is 71 degrees after lots of morning clouds we're going to see some of the sunshine break through and the afternoon is going to be a lot brighter. temperatures nice and mild this afternoon and you see how that trend goes. we go from 46 degrees at 7:00 a.m. to 64 at 11:00 a.m. by 1:00 p.m. we're at 68. we hit our high about 3 o'clock today. get outside and enjoy it, matt. >> sportscaster erin andrews thanking her family and legal team after a jury awarded her $55 million. andrews sued several parties including the nashville marriott for $75 million. that is where a stalker

>> a 65-year-old woman had to fight off an attacker while she was taking out the trash. it happened monday morning on the 6700 block of emand will street in west mount airy. she told police the man pushed her inside her apartment and tried to pull off her pants but she kicked him and he ran away. police released surveillance video of a restaurant shooting suspect in north philadelphia. the man in the dark hat and long jacket is wanted for wounding a man inside a church's chicken on the 3600 block of north broad street on
sunday. the suspect allegedly got into an argument with an employee who was cleaning tables nearby. 19-year-old josiah myers was hit by the gunfire but he's expected to survive. >> atlantic city police officers have a new line of defense. private donations to the ac police foundation allowed them to purchase 16 new bulletproof vests. prior to the fundraiser only swat teams had the advance body armor which provides protection from rifle rounds. >> a flash flood state trooper is in the fight of his life. how a routine check on the roads took a terrible turn. we're waiting an update on the trooper's condition. >> a desperate plea to the purse snatch here has something a pennsylvania widow can can never replace. >> ♪
