>> ♪ >> "action news." delaware valley's leading news program. with matt o'donnell, tamala edwards, karen rogers and meteorologist, david murphy. >> ♪ >> good morning everyone, it is 4:30 a.m. on this wednesday march ninth. >> here's what we're following to your. a man is found dead inside a burning car in kensington. it's closed a number of streets in that area. we have a live report. >> more than 100 firefighters battle a huge blaze in delaware county and they are still on the scene at this hour. >> and record warmth is on the way. just how high will those temperatures get? >> well, we have the people to talk to to answer those questions, david is off, karen rogers is here along with matt pelman. good morning. >> it was so nice to see people out and about enjoying

the weather yesterday and i think even more so today and tomorrow. satellite6 and action radar showing us right now we have clear skies, a couple of high clouds streaming in. we really have a beautiful day ahead today so hopefully you can get out there and enjoy it. unusually warm for this time of year. look at these numbers and it's 45 in quakertown, 41 coatesville, 47 saint davids. we're 49 degrees in center city so we kept with the mostly clear skies. dipped to 49 in hammonton already 54 degrees in dover, delaware and as you look at the day ahead a high of 80. record warmth. the record is 73. we're going well past that and we're keeping mostly sunny skies so no reason not to get out there and enjoy it. tomorrow kind of a repeat performance before things change. we'll have the details on those changes can coming up in a few minutes, matt. >> sounds like good things are on the way weather-wise. traffic-wise, well, who knows. good morning to you, karen. so far though it's not so bad here along 95 by allegheny avenue. we had a southbound work crew that just pulled away so now all lanes opened in both

directions. problem free commute on 95. westbound on the vine street expressway towards the schuylkill everything is open and ready for you this morning. it's tonight at 11 o'clock that the vine closures will resume it will be shut down in both directions between broad street and 76 until 5:00 tomorrow morning. they'll rinse and repeat on thursday night so a couple nights of vine closures coming up for you. once again this morning they still have not towed away that broken down vehicle on the ramp from the boulevard southbound to the schuylkill westbound. watch out for that on the shoulder. we had an overnight crash in limerick township along ridge pike at sunset road by brewster's real ice cream. i think it will be busy he there today. but that crash is cleared out of the way. in williamstown a wreck along malaga road at george's lane. no problems so far this morning on the a.c. expressway but in barnegat township a downed pole is shutting down route flynn at bayshore drive. stay on the garden state parkway. that looks fine so far on this wednesday morning. matt. >> thank you matt. let's get to our breaking news story. a man crashed his car into a

business in philadelphia's kensington section. the car burst into flames leaving the man dead and leaving a complete mess on the streets. "action news" reporter katherine scott is following this story and joins us live from the scene near north second street and cecil b. moore avenue. katherine. >> reporter: matt, this car crash and burst into flames. the person inside died. police believe that person is a man but the body is burned beyond recognition. let me show what's happening here. you can see investigators remain on the scene here in kensington. there is debris all over the street. judging from the damage investigators believe this car was going very f it's hard to tell but that's the car up there on the street corner. it is just a mangled mess. this happened around 1:30 this morning at second and cecil b. moore here in kensington. the man was behind the wheel of a 2014 infiniti traveling east on cecil b. moore if third. while in the 200 block police say this person somehow lost

control hit a small treat, jumped a curb hit two street lights an traffic light. all three of those things were ripped from the base. then the car struck a building and went across the street and came to a rest against another building, then the car burst into flames. fire crews were called out to the scene and after they put the fire out they discovered the body inside. the entire car will have to be towed to the medical examiner's office. the body too badly burned for police to remove it. >> it doesn't even look like a vehicle. it just looks like a piece of twisted steel. it has so much damage to it, it's hard to even tell that it was a car. >> reporter: and back here live on the scene the investigation is under way but the cleanup is also under way as well. there's broken glass and poles knocked over. there's a lot of debris that that looks like trash. a lot of stuff was inside the car. it is a lot of stuff from

mcdonald's, hundreds of cusp that were inside packaging a, hundreds of gift cards, some swipe machines so police are going check some nearby mcdonald's to see if perhaps this was an employee. they also ran the tag. it comes back to an address outside the city so the local police department will follow up with that address. it's also under investigation whether this car was stolen. we're live in kensington, katherine scott channel6 "action news." matt. >> quite a scene. thank you katherine. firefighters remain on the scene of a major fire in colwyn delaware county. people nearby heard several explosions at the building which is believed to be an auto shop on the 500 block of ellis avenue. authorities believe the fire started outside at 11:00 p.m. burning at least 15 cars and then spread into the building. more than 100 firefighters headed to the scene and when fire crews arrived they said the ground was shaking from the blasts. a witness nearby also heard the explosions. >> huge explosion. there was a mushroom cloud. it was huge.

and i -- first it knocked me and my father down. first thing we got up and we said we hope nobody's in there. we ran in towards the fire just to make sure nobody was on the ground. >> hazmat crews were called to the scene because of chemicals inside the building. however, authorities say there is no threat to the public. the cause remains under investigation. and this is new, a house fire sent two people to the hospital in montgomery county. the blaze broke out on the unit block of raynum road in lower merion. crews arrived at midnight to find heavy flames coming from a second floor bedroom. both victims suffered smoke inhalation. one is stable, the sotted in son critical can condition. >> six people dead in six neighborhoods. in west philadelphia police say 55-year-old ronald stanley went on a stabbing spree. he had 31 prior arrests. they say he walked into a cricket wireless store yesterday and began stabbing a man who was simply paying his bill. stanley then allegedly walked

outside jumped in a car and tried to stab another man. that man managed to fight his attacker off. next police say stanley got out of the car, made his way across the street and stabbed a 30-year-old man in the chest. that man was doing nothing more than standing there talking to his girlfriend. >> he just ran over to him, just turned him around and -- oh, my god. i can't get that out of my head. >> nathan atkinson was that man's name who was stabbed. he collapsed in street and died. they say stanley did not know any of the victims. and philadelphia police are also busy investigating five other deaths as well. among them gunfire rang out about 8:15 on north vodges street in west philadelphia a22-year-old man was killed. then just minutes later a 31-year-old man was shot to

death on the 2400 block of north hollywood and strawberry mansion. >> well, unlike this flag here, flags will be flying at half-staff across new jersey in memory of the state troop here died of his injuries after being hit along i-295. 31-year-old sean cullen was out of his vehicle responding to a crash on the highway in deptford monday night. authorities say the driver who struck cullen is cooperating. cullen was born in dublin ireland. and month tossed new jersey as a teenager. he served in mount holly and westampton before joining the state police two years ago. >> somebody who was completely motivated enthusiastic energetic. >> everybody loved him. it didn't matter what was going on. everybody was smiling, laughing. >> cullen leaves behind a nine month old daughter an fiancé who is pregnant with their second child. >> now to the race for 2016. it was a big night for donald trump and bernie sanders.

trump picked up wins in three more states and sanders came away with a big prize winning in michigan. abc's stephanie ramos is live in washington with more on last night's results. stephanie. >> reporter: tam, another big primary contest and another big win for gop frontrunner donald trump but a split decision in the two democratic primaries last night is making it an even tighter race for the white house. the hunt is on for delegates. >> in the last week we have won three caucuses and two of them were record breaking turnouts. >> reporter: bernie sanders with the stern, now adding a major victory in michigan a state both democrats and republicans courted. >> this has been a fantastic night in michigan. >> reporter: sanders already looking ahead to super tuesday part three with contests in florida, illinois, ohio and missouri. hillary clinton just as excited easily winning the contest in mississippi by a wide margin making it a clean

see what it looks like. we'll sea bright sunshine today and right now we have mostly clear skies. just a couple of high clouds around as sky6 looks live in the center city skyline. no weather related problems affecting your commute except that you may wish you weren't driving to work. let's look at the numbers. the temperature is already at 49 degrees. so we're even starting off mild right now this morning the the dewpoint is 36 degrees, not a lot of moisture in the atmosphere. the pressure holding steady right now. the winds are calm and visibility not an issue. so, let's take a look at satellite6 and action radar. we have those clear skies overnight. can couple of high clouds kind of streaming in but you can almost see the effect of the high pressure that we had through our region. we really have a good looking day ahead and it's that high that's going to kind of act as a heat pump sitting off the coast allowing those temperatures to zoom well above average today. let's look at what you can expect. record warmth. the record is 73 set back in 2000. we're topping off at 80 today. yesterday's high was 75 so it will be even warmer than it

was yesterday with even more sunshine. mostly sunny skies, a little bit of a gentle breeze out of the southwest about seven to 14 miles an hour. just a beautiful weather day. if you're going head outside i hope you have some sort of plans. here's your golf forecast, lots of sunshine breezy at 2:00 p.m., 71, by 4:00 p.m. about 70 degrees. it's going to be beautiful. i think those numbers even higher than that. so we've got a good looking day. here's your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast. it will be warm and beautiful. 80 degrees for your high today with bright sunshine filling you in. in the overnight hours 56 for the low. waking up tomorrow very warm. in fact tomorrow more record warmth on the way another day when we anticipate breaking the record. the record is 76. we'll top off at 80 degrees. the one change comes we have a front that's coming through a back door cold front slips through. we get the chance for showers at night maybe in the lehigh valley even get a couple in the afternoon but looks like the showers will hold off until nighttime so you can enjoy your thursday. friday is not quite as warm behind that front but still

the teens who are 17 say secretary of state john husted husted. the teens allege ohio's election manual was changed to specifically forbid 17-year-olds from voting in the primaries. the law banning 17-year-olds from primary voting has been clear for years according to husted. >> there's nothing new here. this is my sixth year secretary of state. every primary that i have been involved in has been run by the same rule. >> democratic presidential candidate bernie sanders has filed a similar lawsuit in federal court. >> time for your first look at business at the big board. the trend towards rendering is extending to the suburbs. capitol one and researchers with new york university found that 29 percent of people who live in the suburbs of large metropolitan areas including philadelphia are rendering and

when you're encouraged to embrace that usually suppressed emotion but i don't want you to panic as you're heading out this wednesday morning. we have a couple small things like a fender-bender here on the schuylkill eastbound side approaching city. a you can see police on the scene but everything is off to the side so both lanes are opened. on the big picture avoid the scene of that overnight mess in kensington that katherine was telling us about scene being second and cecil b. moore. we had a crash overnight in limerick township by brewster's real ice cream but it cleared out along ridge pike at sunset road so everything is reopened there. on the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound by the new neshaminy falls toll plaza construction taking out the left lane. overnight maintenance on the burlington bristol bridge has cleared. crews will return at 9 o'clock tonight. watch out for the ongoing construction on the betsy ross bridge which includes the closure of the ramp to richmond street in port richmond. tam. >> thank you matt. authorities say they arrested a suspect in the shooting of an idaho pastor. they say the man was taken in

for questioning after he was spotted throwing suspicious items over the white house fence. secret service agents took kyle odom into custody yesterday without incident. he's accused of shooting pastor tim remmington six times outside of remmington's idaho church on sunday. remmington is said to be conscious and talking with family. officials say that that was a planned attack but they're still looking for a motive. >> this is new on "action news." an excerpt of camille cosby's testimony from a defamation lawsuit was released. bill cosby's wife answered questions under oath last month in a defamation lawsuit filed in massachusetts. the plaintiffs are seven women who have accused her husband of sexual assault. camille testified she never read the deposition in which her husband acknowledged he gave sedatives to women he was planning to have sex with. coastal storm bee's lawyers want to suspend the lawsuit against him in massachusetts while a criminal case is pending in montgomery county, pa. he faces charges of sexually assaulting a former temple
