good morning, it is 5:00 a.m., monday, april 4. here's what's happening. rail services are resuming one day after two amtrak workers killed in a train collision with a backhoe. we're live on the scene. there's one game before villanova can claim the top prize, we're live at villanova before the final dance. let's go over to david murphy with weather and karen rogers has traffic. good morning. >> reporter: we're starting out cool certainly and damp in other sports. we have showers push into the northern suburbs. we had earlier action around doylestown that's falling apart and moving toward the east. this is a pronounced shower that's coming into reading it will be there in a couple of minutes, allentown will have lighter stuff, well. more showers to the west.

satellite shows you out to the west, more clouds and radar showing you more rain and later in the day additional showers will be popping through. 43 degrees in philadelphia. 39 in trenton. we have dipped to 38 in allentown. 42 in wilmington, 49 in millville. 50 in cape may. on the bus stop this morning a little bit on the cool side. i have a shot of getting down to 38 by 6:00. 42 by 8:00 a.m. mostly cloudy skies and mainly dry, although you want to check out the radar before the kids head out just in case you need an umbrella in your specific neighborhood. as we roll through the day, 59 degrees, by 11:00. 64 by 1:00 p.m. 3:00 p.m., 66 degrees that will be the high this afternoon. it will be a little bit breezy. mostly cloudy skies and occasionally a spotty shower and better chance of rain later in the day and evening hours. overnight tonight, look out, a freeze warning has been posted

by the national weather service, all the counties highlighted, everywhere outside the berks county and northern bucks county. bring in those potted plants. karen rogers we have a dip in the seven day. i'll have the details coming up. >> reporter: let's give you the latest with mass trans after the horrible accident with amtrak. service is resuming between philadelphia and wilmington. you want to expect delays, tracks one and four will be shared, two and three will not be operating as they conduct the investigation. how about the regional rail, septa wilmington/newark line, expect 30 minute delays, no outbound service darby to highland station, service will be running to newark, delaware, if you're heading there. wilmington/newark line service restored, but expect 30 minute delays as they share tracks

here. barley hill road is closed because of downed wires. use kennett pike to get a around that. 70 eastbound in cherry hill closed at main street. stick to church road. outside live in new jersey, 42 freeway, northbound traffic light volume currently dry in the area, even though we have showers often way, tam. thank you, karen. nearly 350 people and passengers and crew and total were on board an amtrak train when it hit a heavy piece of equipment on the tracks. it left two amtrak workers dead and dozens injured. katherine scott is live in trainer where the accident happened. >> reporter: good morning, tam, the investigation continues and we hope to learn more in the coming days, so far amtrak has not identified the two employees and they have not said what they were doing at the active track.

they were shaking and kids were crying. >> reporter: amtrak train 89 was traveling through chester sunday morning when it slammed into a backhoe on the track. the backhoe operator and supervisor were killed, more than 300 passengers were on board. sir be advised the train hit a backhoe, multiple injuries reported. i thought oh, my gosh we'll derail. amtrak employees kept saying be calm. >> reporter: on board the force of the crash caused the ceilings to cave in. passengers were thrown to the aisles. dozens were rushed to the nearby hospital. ntsb were called to the scene, they are trying to determine how this happened. we have recovered the event data recorder and forward facing video from the locomotive. >> reporter: the data recorder has been sent to washington, d.c. for further examination,

autopsy on the employees will be conducted today. live in trainer, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." thank you for that. another incident involving an amtrak train is under investigation. a person was hit by a train in bensalem, bucks county near the corn wells height sayings, the victim lost a leg. it's unclear why the victim was so close to the tracks. philadelphia police hope newly released photos will lead to a nail salon thief. the crime happened at cia christie was a nail friday -- happened at christy's nail, friday afternoon. the woman used two children as look outs as she stole wallets from employees. a man robbed a shell station, the victim was able to get be back into the car and drive away, but struck an

allentown. 39 in trenton. 42 in wilmington. we can bring it here anytime you get a chance. 41 in reading, 35 in lancaster. 49 degrees in cape may. 47 degrees in atlantic city and 49 degrees in millville at this hour early. future tracker 6 shows you as we go through the morning there's the possibility of perhaps a wet snowflake up in allentown, but mainly just showers popping through and not a whole lot of it during the morning commute. every now and then you might see something. we pull into 1:00 p.m., every now and then it will be fairly wet in allentown and reading with showers possible. some of this might break away and get into philadelphia, as well. the better that is an of that is in the afternoon, around 3:00 p.m., 4:00 p.m. we have the shower activity in the i-95 corridor unfortunately in time for the evening commute. by 10:00 p.m. or 11:00 p.m. we're clearing out off the coast.

morning and it is early. they are moving 50-mile an hour on the majors. now looking live on route 42. that's the northbound traffic at creek road. you can see light volume on 42, if you're coming up from deptford or gloucester county you're looking good on 42 heading up into the city. overall on the big picture, speeds are in the good shape mostly in the 50s on the blue route and the schuylkill expressway, i-95, no major issues as you head out. storm tracker 6 live double scan we're dry along the i-95 corridor, we're watching showers up to the northwest. we're seeing areas blue mixed precipitation out in the poconos, you have to go up north fore that, hazleton and i-80. we're looking at rain near 422 near hamburg and pottstown and allentown you're getting showers right there. let's look at the temperatures through the area, as well. as you're heading out the door. it's currently 43 degrees in philadelphia. you're only in the upper 30s
