good morning everyone, it is 5:00 a.m., friday, april 125. here's what's happening. police are looking for the gunman who killed an elderly woman in her germantown home. an attempted hover theft in allentown. warm weather is making its return to the area this weekend. i don't know if this is going to be the best weekend of the year. it will be better than last weekend. >> reporter: this is my favorite kind of weather when you start to push toward the upper 60s and low 70s.
that's what's in store for the this weekend. if you liked yesterday you'll like today. a lack of of any cloud cover around so we're expecting sunshine this morning. 41 degrees in philadelphia. 38 in allentown and reading, of course we did have some concerns of maybe a little frost around this morning, looks like millville might be one of those areas or toward the atlantic city airport where that maybe happening with the temperatures closer to the freezing mark. on the bus stop, 39 degrees by 6:00. 42 on 8:00 a.m. dress the kids on the warm side. they aren't going to need the extra gear all day. this afternoon, sunshine kicks in. we get into the 50s by 10:00 a.m. we spend the afternoon in the 60s. the high temperature will be 64 reading which is just a degree above yesterday. yesterday pretty much a repeat today. we're looking at a decent day ahead. pollen count is running on the high side today and this

as well as skippack pike in north wales. all the roads are in good shape, no issues weather wise, but a handful of issues. a suspicious death in the germantown section has become philadelphia's latest homicide case. the woman was 83-year-old shot twice in the chest. katherine scott has the full story. >> reporter: matt, that's right, homicide detectives are investigating this one, 83-year-old woman shot inside her home. people who knew her are in shock. family members are in disbelief over the violent death of mary morton. the 83-year-old was shot twice in the chest inside her germantown home. she was known for her kindness. she would give you anything. that's how i picture her, her husband, the whole family. she was a religious person, great spirit. >> reporter: it happened around
12:30 p.m. on the home on the 400 block of east could cokco -- costcove street. her husband has alzheimers. i thought was the husband and i found you tell it was her. detectives have not commented on any possible motive. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." katherine, thank you for that, 5:04. new this morning, investigators are trying to sort out a shooting and multi-vehicle crash in allentown. police say it started with the attempted robbery of a man's hover board on pioneer street. witnesses say a white toyota and white suv sped down 6th street with bullets flying. one vehicle slammed into a folder during the chase, two men
took off running. police found a third man in the back seat of the toyota with two gunshot wounds and short time later a different man walked into a lehigh valley county hospital with a gun shot wounds. it is believed he fled the crash. philadelphia fire marshal is investigating a row home blaze that injured a man. the fire broke out along the 2100 block of 77th avenue. firefighters knocked down the flames and found a man inside and pulled him out. he suffered smoke inhalation. a jury in delaware county found a man guilty of sexually abusing a teenage girl while she was asleep in her bed. the assault happened inside a home in up he shall -- upper darby. prosecutors say he climbed into her bed and began touching her, she escaped and called 911.
a philadelphia man who ran a brutal fighting operation will spend the next four years on probation. he ran a dog-fighting ring in the city's lawndale section back in 2013. the officers rescued five homes all were scarred and injured and one was emaciated. three had to be euthanized. a freak accident killed a well known south jersey farmer. this is an thee rus -- anthony russo. yesterday he was run over by farming equipment on the 100 block of coronza road. it happened during seeding operations. critics who have produced tv spots say the wholesale tax will be passed through to shoppers. the head of the food merchants
