sara bloomquist has the details. >> reporter: rick and monica police have little doubt there is an arsonist at work in the overbrook section of the city. police have responded to three fires all at auto storage facilities all along lancaster avenue. the latest happened on the 1500 block and someone poured gasoline on vehicles and set them ablaze. >> this is the fire at the major events auto lot. police were called at 10:00 p.m., and found 10 vehicles on fire. the blaze is investigated now as a possible arson. >> it was done intentionally. they even left the gas can in there. >> he toes cars to be stored on the light. he puts the damage at $3100 and

wonders who would do such a thing. >> they have to get to the bottom of t. you have people spending money for stuff. and somebody destroying it. >> police tell "action news" it's the third suspicious fire on lancaster avenue, an at auto storage facility in recent months. a surveillance camera captured video of a fire at the superior automotive and towing lot at 1622 lancaster avenue, it's suspect can be seen fleeing with his left hand and arm on fire. there was a fire on the automotive spot on the same block. >> it's a pattern, a behavior pattern that someone needs to put a stop to. >> police are still unclear as to what the motive may be and happening in remote pockets of the city in the late night or early morning hours, anyone with

information should call philadelphia police or the fire marshals office, police want to stop this arsonist before someone gets hurt. i'm sara bloomquist, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you sara, a buck county mother is facing charges accused of beating her own child to death. 24-year-old kayla moore is charged with criminal homicide and criminal assault and endangering the welfare of a child. moore herself called 911 sunday night saying her son was in cardiac arrest and a day later that child died. nora muchanic spoke to police today about the investigation and she will have the details coming up on "action news" at 6:00. from our delaware newsroom, a crash that injured a young pedestrian is under investigation in newcastle right now and paramedics responded to north dupont highway and found the victim with head and possible internal injuries, the victim is believed to be in his

teens. he broke parrier in not one but two major u.s. cities and tonight people that knew and respected the first african-american philadelphia police commissioner remember him. willy williams died at his home in florida. >> i am proud to say is he one of my heros in this profession. >> richard ross fondly remembers willy williams. the first black police commissioner here in philadelphia. >> people have asked me multiple times would i want to aspire to be a police commissioner was when i met him. >> he rose from patrol officer to top come in 1988, a monumental task in its own right and difficult in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s. he calls williams a pioneer.

>> he was a humble man. with a great deal of grace and dignity. and did an extraordinary job as police commissioner. >> williams was recruited by los angeles to be their commissioner in 1992, l.a. was dealing with the aftermath of the rodney king riots and the fracture relationships of african-americans and police. >> he was a guy that was even tempered and a firm guy and strong leadership skills. he was one of the initial proponents of community policing and he pushed that very hard. williams passed away outside of atlanta, he is survived by his wife and children. one of whom is a police lieutenant here in philadelphia and grew up with homicide captain, james clark. >> knew him as a family man and great father and great husband. i knew both sides of him. >> i spoke with the former

pennsylvania's next senate race and mcginty will try to unseat pat toomey, she beat joe sestak by 10 points. today the action cam caught up with mcginty as she thanked voters at murray's deli. >> i think it's hurtful to women and to families when pat toomey leads the charge to take away planned parenthood that serves 104,000 of his very own constituents or opposed to increasing the minimum wage and equal pay for equal work. senator pat toomey -- blamed mcginty for following the

trying to find the men responsible for a completely different crime. katherine scott has the story. >> today crews were out at 15th and parrish in philadelphia repairing this traffic light. the only damage left behind by the mayhem. is it started before 2:00 a.m. when plain clothed officers were driving down broad street near brown, when they were broadsided by the black sedan at the intersection that took off. they didn't stop or render help, they just left the scene. a white ford suv pulled up and the driver later told police he saw the crash scene and panicked and got out of his suv and left it in drive and the suv was slowly rolling, that is when two people that were in the area saw it and took it. >> he was not robbed or carjacked and nobody said anything to him. he just jumped out of the car we don't know why. >> the suspects fled in the stolen car south and broad and

ended up going the wrong way on 15th street before crashing head-on in a minivan with people inside and then a parked nissan ultima. the suspects got out and ran away possibly entering a club at broad and parrish. >> two males one wearing a hood the sweater shirt, red. and the police went in to the club and found a discarded red, hooded sweatshirt. >> the two plain clothes officers were taken to hahnemann in critical condition. one had a concussion and the other head, neck and shoulder pain but they are doing okay. katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." time now for a check of our oiling traffic report midweek. >> lets go live to matt pellman in the traffic center. >> we had multiple annoyances this morning to bog us down here on 95. the normal afternoon volume

happening on "action news" tonight. moves are made in two presidential campaigns following two primaries in pennsylvania, delaware and three other states. a scuffle between to women outside a center city starbucks, what the victim told police started it. and the eagles are poised to make big news at the draft in chicago. now the details. the presidential primaries in pennsylvania and delaware are in the books. it's a big night for the race for the republican and democratic nominations. a big night for donald trump, he swept all five contests, locking wins in pennsylvania, maryland, delaware, rhode island and connecticut. and hillary clinton took pennsylvania, maryland, delaware, and connecticut but bernie sanders took rhode island. >> donald trump has 989

channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. parts of the midwest and the south are bracing for more severe weather tonight, the national weather service has confirmed that three tornadoes touched down in oklahoma yesterday. crews are also satisfiesing six other reported twisters in texas, kansas and missouri and indiana. a 62-year-old woman was killed after a tree fell on her home near houston and the storms snapped power polls and damaged homes and buildings including a medical facility. >> i'm in shock and still in shock. >> over in kansas, huge pieces of hail fell from the size some were the size of grapefruits. >> david muir will have more on the dangerous weather coming up on world news, watch that tonight following "action news" at 6:00. two delaware men are facing charges stemming from a deadly shooting in delaware.

they are being held on more than a million dollars bail each tonight. detectives believe that both young men were responsible for shooting and killing is sorrano and charges with first degree murder and conspiracy. delaware state police investigators have released the name of a driver killed in a crash along 202 in wilmington early this morning. they say that 28-year-old devon williams from newcastle was speeding and hit a stone wall. johnson who was wearing his seatbelt did not survive. no one else was hurt. still not clear what caused him to lose control. a minneapolis county man is accused of trying to sexual assault a young teen he met over the internet. he is mike after straff.

he sent communications to who he thought was a 14-year-old girl. he set up a meeting with the intent to perform sex acts with her. when he arrived at the location he was arrested. philadelphia police are looking for a woman that attacked another woman outside of a center city starbucks. it was all captured on surveillance video, it happened along the 1600 block of arch street and the victim told detectives that the victim threw a coffee stirrer and things escalated when they went out side. the suspect threw a cup of coffee at her face. the suspect ran off. police are looking for two suspects that beat and robbed two men in old city. this video was taken along the unit block of bank street. the suspects got out of a car and suddenly attacked two other men on the street. they took a wallet and cell phone and $200 in cash and drove

off. philadelphia police are trying to identify this man tonight who burglarized a feltonville restaurant. he broke into del sandwich through a metal window gate early monday morning, the man went behind the counter and grabbed an undisclosed amount of cash. time to get a look at the traffic situation. lets go to matt pellman in the traffic center. >> people are trying to get home to their casa for a sandwich. a crash just cleared from the ramp to the vine street expressway to the westbound schuylkill expressway and that ramp is completely reopened and the damage is done. it's a parking lot across town from 95 to the schuylkill and you may want to stay on the local vine as an alternate. and keep in mind the next few mornings and vine and the schuylkill and ben franklin bridge is extra busy because of the penn relays coming to the
