of the it shut down. we have weather and traffic with karen rogers. >> reporter: the chopper 6, the accident on i-95 southbound that had all lanes blocked on 320 for about an hour has cleared. looking live, the accident has cleared. i-95 southbound was jammed from ridley park to 320 where we had the major accident. as we look live, we can see the accident is cleared. we can go to the traffic cameras and show you the traffic, it was at a complete standstill. it was creating a mess. this is i-95 at the blue route, southbound traffic is heavy, it is thinning, but it was jammed solid brocking all lanes at -- blocking all lanes at 320. northbound was jammed, as well, because of late-running construction. traffic is moving better now that the major accident has cleared. this is i-95 approaching cottman you're looking at the normal

barnegot drugstore and police say lock your cars and doors. katherine scott is in barnegot where the search goes on. >> reporter: that's right an intense search for the escaped prisoner, last seen in barnegot. authorities are urging residents to use caution. they will stay on the case as long as there's a possibility he remains in the area. let's go to the picture of arthur buckle. this was the man who escaped ancora unit bayside state policen in winslow township. guards realized he was missing on tuesday when they went to do their bed check. yesterday morning he was caught on camera at a cvs in barnegot. police are roaming patrols and k-9 searches throughout different areas of town. a chopper was overhead using thermal imaging cameras. buckle was serving time for aggravated assault and was up for parole. he was sentenced back in 1996

for aggravated manslaughter charge. he was charged with murder in that case, but convicted on on a lessor charge. authorities are urging residents to stay aware. keep your doors locked and vehicles locked and report any suspicious activity. as long as there's a possibility this person is in barnegot township we'll stay engaged in the operation. if we have confirmation that's someplace else we're on him and we'll stay on. there was discussion whether to open schools in barnegot. they will open the schools, but there will be officers at the district schools throughout the day for the safety of students and staff. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." this this is new on "action news," everyone escaped a fast-moving fire that damaged a

home in the port richmond section of philadelphia. authorities say the fire broke out after 2:00 a.m. on east monmouth street. when fire crews got to the scene, heavy smoke and fire bellowed from the second floor. what parked the blaze is under investigation. nobody was hurt. police in lower merion are trying to track down the thieves that ripped the doors off an apartment exreks and took off. -- complex and took off. the doors stand 8 feet high and weigh 4500 pounds each. they are about 90 years old and original to the buildings. connor woodward's family owns the buildings, they are offering a two thousand dollar reward for the return. doors or leading to an arrest. new lawmakers will try to help atlantic city from going broke. there will be a bill put up for the vote, senate president is

holding out for his own atlantic city aid bill that is backed by chris christie. chris christie think the city will run out of cash in two weeks. mayor kenny's tax on sugary drinks prompted strong opposition outside city hall. the man wants to use the money to expand pre-k classes. critics say the proposed tax will hurt small businesses and low income communities. it don't seem like that much for a good cause. it's something that matters. the state pass this is soda tax, next week it will be cakes and potato chips and eventually it will be healthy foods. city council will make its decision on the proposed tax next months. a lot of people are thinking about summer travel plans and tsa is saying to the

another problem this one in southwest philadelphia 62nd and eastwick avenue. we have an accident where a vehicle hit a fire hydrant and water bubble out on the road. we have water everywhere, mud everywhere. police fire department on the scene blocking it off. stick to 63rd and lindbergh boulevard. somerton section of the city, the traffic lights are not working at byberry and bustleton avenue. new problem with traffic lights gloucester county and delsea drive at lambs road. hockessin new castle county. we have lancaster pike blocked at valley road. a tractor-trailer accident with the police on the scene. stick to old lancaster pike or old wilmington road. the problems keep coming in today, dave. >> reporter: kind of crazy because the last couple of days

we are following a developing story near the jersey shore where the search for an escaped prisoner enters the third day, schools in the area will open, but they will be on alert. katherine scott is live at the barnegot police department to give us the latest. >> reporter: residents around here are being told to lock their doors and lock their cars and report suspicious activity. the schools will open, but is they will have officers at the all the district schools as as a safety precaution as the search continues. arthur buckle was reported missing on tuesday morning. escaped from the ancora unit of bayside state prison in winslow township. guards realized he was missing when they went to do their bed count. he was caught on camera at a cvs in barnegot. we saw the department of

corrections k-9 vehicles leave here. they have choppers over head. buckle was serving time for aggravated assault and up for parole in a just a few vehicles. he was a prior record for manslaughter, he was sentenced back in 1996. in that case he was initially charged with murder. authorities have a message for him. sure render immediately, make it easy for everybody including yourself. you will be apprehended either way. our police department are will not stop as long as you're in barnegot. surrender mr. buckle. >> reporter: we've been seeing vehicles coming in and out of the department. corrections barnegot police and other nearby agencies working on the search. buckle could face an additional 3 to 5 years due to the escape. live in barn got. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." police in delaware county are investigating a close call

for one of their own. an suv trying to make a turn clipped the back of a trainer police cruiser. this happened at post road and main street. the cruiser ended up on the walk. the officer was not hurt. new this morning a house fire sent a 67-year-old woman to the hospital with second degree burns. the fire broke out on 6200 block of north 17th street in germantown. firefighters found the source of the flames in a second floor bedroom. the woman is in serious, but stable condition. this is new, a high school teacher in montgomery county is accused of having a sexual relationship with a student. stephen burden of berks county work at pottsgrove high school. he had sexual relationship with a female student last year. the district is taking steps to having him dismissed. pennsylvania law probabilities

area. we know is just before 6:00 a.m. this morning according to fire crews acar struck a sinkhole. you can see right there, which you can will zoom into that area that's split in the asphalt. they believe that's the area where the car hit it. this is in the area of a water main, so they think that possibly a water main did break during the time that the car did crash into it. because of this, when the emergency crews did respond they came to this, as you can see every corner of this intersection is now flooded. well the water department is on the scene. fire crews are here, what they are doing is preventing people from driving through here, there's several septa stops in the area, if you're taking the bus you'll have delays. right now they want you to avoid the intersection while they clean this up and figure out the best away for people to get around. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." back to you. we'll take a short break and come back to the top stories
