on a teen in south philadelphia. some are looking to hike the wage rate to $15. details on what will happen today. it's cold out there, david. >> reporter: we have a chilly start and frost watch in the region. we're looking for sunshine once the sun gets up over the horizon. 44 degrees in philadelphia currently. 37 in allentown. 38 in reading, 40 in trenton. 35 in millville. several spots this morning are setting record lows, of course in the northern and western suburbs in particular we have the frost advisory until 8:00 a.m. you might have missed this yesterday. it's not too late to get out there and bring in the potted plants and cover up the sensitive stuff if you have something like that. there could brief frost around the region, but north and west is the worst. 40 degrees by 6:00 a.m.

45 by 8:00 a.m. coats required this morning, it will stay kind of chilly today. is afternoon and pretty much the same by 6:00 p.m. bright conditions, but breezy and cool. rain on the way, i'll have that coming up. >> reporter: of course rain is on the way. the construction is clearing on the schuylkill expressway eastbound near the blue route. no problems, traffic getting by, the right lane was blocked, but not a problem right now. we have fire department activity in center city blocking all lanes at race and 7th. stick to the vine or any of the numbered streets to get around race street.

no problems coming in and out of the city, it's a very quiet scene. we have construction westbound on the pennsylvania turnpike near fort washington, the eastbound has cleared matt and tam. we're following a developing story, a teen is fighting for his life and we're still seeing karen here, here we go, a teen is fighting for his life after a drive-by shooting overnight. the gunfire erupted in south philadelphia before midnight. police say the gunman shot the 17-year-old nearly ten times. the teen is in critical condition. we'll have more on the story including a description of the vehicle in a live report at 5:30. opening statements are said to begin in the federal corruption trial of philadelphia congressman chaka fattah. begin as the corruption trial gets underway for chaka fattah. the 11-term congressman is accused of accepting bribes and misusing campaign funds to pay off debt and enrich family and friends. he lost his bid for a 12th term in last month's primary. fattah and four associates are charged with racquet tiering and wire fraud and money laundering. two other aids pleaded guilty. his son is serving a sentence for corruption conviction. fattah said he was and failure targeted by the fbi and he has done nothing wrong. the trial could last 8 weeks. 5:03. police say a man killed his girlfriend and set a bucks county motel on fire in a painfully bizarre ways toking

gas on her as he smoked a cigarette. this happened at the lincoln hotel in bensalem. kevin small bought a cup of gas at a wawa across the street and tossed it on elizabeth bacon smith when he got angry. officers found smalls not far away with burns to his hands. he is charged with criminal homicide and arson. several people at the hotel were taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation, they are expected to be okay. grief counselors and chaplains will be on hand at a cumberland county high school days after two students were killed in a car crash. daisia sulton and her friend hit

breezy and cool, 62 degrees, but lots of sunshine. a good visual day if you're out and about you'll want the jacket. it's the same story in philadelphia. lots of sun, breezy, high around 65 late this afternoon and there are the winds out of the west at 12 to 25 miles per hour. that's pretty blustery if you're out for your walk or doing something make sure you get the jacket on and maybe a hood up. for the phillies tonight you'll want a sweatshirt and maybe a couple of layers, miami marlin also in town, first pitch 64. 9th inning, 56 degrees we may be breezy as we go through the game. overnight, then, increasing clouds and cool, 41 is the overnight low. at times we'll start out on the cloudy skies, sprinkles and showers building in. a little bit damp tomorrow.

start you off. you can see the flashing lights, it's happening on i-95 southbound here's an accident near washington avenue on the off-ramp mostly on the shoulder, traffic is getting by. scanned our cameras and saw the accident scene. i-95 southbound near washington. you want to watch for that accident just in there right now. on the boulevard, southbound traffic moving pretty nicely as you head toward the schuylkill expressway, no problems, roads are clear and dry, not causing an issue out there this morning. we have construction on the turnpike westbound between fort washington and valley forge. we've got the left lane blocked. eastbound we had the right lane getting by for a while. eastbound construction has cleared, westbound we have it out there. let's look at the temperatures. it's sitting at the freezing mark in martins creek. 37 in quakertown. 36 in coatsville, 36 in ken nets square, 39 in saint david. 44 in center city.
