it crashed in the mediterranean sea. 66 people were on board. katherine scott is live in the satellite center gathering updates on why the plane went down. >> reporter: officials say the plane crashed in the mediterranean sea. the search is underway near the greek island of car egyps 804 took off from charles de gaulle paris bound for cairo. it was flying at 37,000 feet 2:45 a.m. when it disappeared off the ray dare. crisis centers have been set up for family members. these are the images coming out of charles de gaulle airport. there was no distress call from the pilot. we're hearing conflicting information about whether indeed there was a signal picked up from the plane after it vanished
from the radar. the airline said there was, but the egyptian military said no such signal was received. as for who was on board, the plane had 56 passengers and ten cabin crew members. egypt air released the passengers nationalities, 30 egyptian, 15 french, one canadian and none listed as american. greek air traffic court reporters spoke to pilots who didn't mention any problem. officials are not ruling anything out. the focus is find the plane and see if there are any survivors and try to recover the plane's black box, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." we'll check in with you in a half-hour. this morning, two philadelphia housing police officers were shaken up in a crash. the cruiser was involved in a minor collision in kensington at 1:00 a.m. the driver of the other vehicle
was not hurt. we're learning about a crash in south jersey that closed a busy highway for five hours, the three car pileup happened on route 70 at 5:30 p.m. three people in the light does an was flown to the hospital where injuries. two other victims are expected to recover. medford place are determining whether any drivers will face charges. happening today it is the first court hearing for they don't of the delaware teens after their classmate died after a fight in the school bathroom. "action news" reporter, annie mccormick is live outside a family court in wilmington with the latest on what to expect today. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tam, two of the three girls charged in connection with amy joyner-francis' death. we are not naming them because they are jiewrvel -- juveniles.
they face the lessor charges in the case with third degree criminal conspiracy. three classmates planned a confrontation against amy joyner-francis at howard high school of technology in wilmington. amy was rushed to the hospital where she died. she died of a long-standing heart condition triggered by the assault. but the victim's family said several cartiologist said the defect should not have caused sudden death. the family is calling for a second autopsy and they want more severe charges against the girls. and so now we're going to blame her death on the heart condition when it was a school fight that led to her death. is to it was the civil assault that led to had your death, not her heart condition. the family wants to make sure that the people have clarity about this.
and both of the girls expected to appear at family court are out on bail. basedbased on the medical examis report only one girl was charged with criminal homicide reportedly the only one to hit amy joyner-francis. she does not appear in court today, however. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." a former consultant to the representative of chaka fattah took to the stand for the prosecution today. today the congressman's defense team team will cross-examine thomas windenfield. fattah claimed to have no idea that he was paying off an illegal loan and had no idea it was happening. donald trump will join chris christie for a fundraiser in new jersey.
it will pay off the campaign debt of christie's unsuccessful presidential bid. it will be the first time trump will raise money as the presumptive nominee. there is growing concern among leading democrats that a division within their party is getting worse. bernie sanders is pressing on even as hillary clinton inches closer to a nomination. a violent outbreak by bernie sanders supporters has people worried about the dnc in philadelphia. it worries me a great deal, i don't want to go back to the 68 convention. i worry about what it does to the electorate as a whole. he should, too. the 1968 democratic convention in chicago was marred by riots.
