it's warm and muggy. 70 philadelphia. 68 in trenton. 72 in reading. close to 70 in millville. 72 degrees in cape may. heading out the door we're going for temperatures between 6:00 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. 69 to 70 degrees. rolling in the afternoon, 79 degrees by 10:00 a.m., 85 by noon. if you're planning a workout you might want to get it done early in the morning. later today probably around 4:00 p.m. we'll see a high of 90 degrees and we'll be in the upper 80s for the rest of the afternoon with the humidity on the noticeable side. we'll get the holiday forecast together for you in a moment matt. >> reporter: sounds good, david, good morning to you, happy friday. with people off work we were hoping that things would be quiet on the roads this morning. already we have a new crash on the schuylkill expressway. westbound the exit for montgomery drive you can see a
vehicle involved in the accident right there. police are on the scene. they have the right lane and part of the off ramp blocked. traffic is getting by in the left lanes without too much of a delay. we'll keep tabs on that, watching the vine street expressway, everything is open and ready for you as you cross town between the schuylkill expressway and i-95. getting a problem in bucks county the pennsylvania turnpike, it's a truck fire, the cab is fully engulfed happening in the eastbound lanes by the delaware valley interchange toward the turnpike connector bridge. traffic is barely squeezing by, if i were you and trying to cross the river go over to the burlington bristol bridge and use that as my crossing. an accident westbound side 422 near sanatoga near the outlets, injuries reported with that crash. already a bunch of things going on this friday morning. a local church is looking
to higher power this morning after a speeding car hit a man and fled. the man who was driving off his church group has died. annie mccormick has the developing details. >> reporter: good morning, tam, actually members of the church group flagged down 26th district police officers who called for the ambulance, they say the driver was unconscious at the scene. they rushed him to temple university hospital where he was pronounced dead about two hours later. this was the scene video from chopper 6 hd over the scene at front and diamond. police say it was around 10:00 p.m. when the 57-year-old victim dropped off his church group for a meeting. based on on witness accounts he was exiting the van on front street and opened the drivers side door, when the car struck the victim and bent the door back in the other direction and dragged the victim 15 feet north
on front street. here's the vague description the police have of the vehicle. the description of the striking vehicle, small to mid side vehicle, dark in color, possibly two door, front end damage and damage possibly to the passenger front tire. it may have left the scene with a flat. >> reporter: and, again, this all happened around 10:00 p.m. the vehicle fled north on front street. police say there are a number of surveillance cameras in the area from local businesses. if you have any information contact police. reporting live in north philadelphia outside temple university hospital, annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." thank you, annie. when there's breaking news and severe weather follow us on social media, join us on social

will be unlocking the beach. the focus is to boost tourism with arc tiforts that will bring people here and not just to the casinos. this year the beach concerts are planned. there are plans for a 200-foot observation on the steel pier. this summer a lot to look forward to and a lot to look forward to this weekend. we'll be more jealous and the sun comes up and you're soaking it in, thank you. we're waiting to hear if governor chris christie signed a life preserver financial plan for the city. the legislation gives the city five month to come up with a plan to balance the budget. if it can't do that, the state
takes it over. police are on the hunt for a man who brutally attacked a man at a reading park earlier this week. the victim suffered multiple broken bones in his face and possible brain injury. police are asking anyone who has information on the whereabouts of the man to contact them. also new a man is on the mend after being shot and robbed. gunfire erupted at 13th and west moreland after 10:30. the gunman took the victim's wallet and cell phone before opening fire. police are checking security cameras to see if they can find evidence. police in coatsville are trying to figure out a triple shooting overnight. the gunfire erupted on the 500 block of olive street. the 3 men are being treated at

allentown that's pushing away. you can see that north of trenton. as we look outside we're looking at a mix of clouds and sun, the battleship new jersey decked out for the memorial day that will be one of the many locations where all eyes are focused as we have a lot of memorial day ceremonies and all the monuments and that sort of thing around the region getting ready to host veterans this weekend. 670 degrees is the current temperature in philadelphia. we're off to a muggy start. 69 in allentown. 68 in wilmington. 69 in millville. 62 in cape may, new jersey. as we look at cloud cover this morning on future tracker 6, looks like there will be breaks in the clouds and that will be the pattern with a mix of clouds and sun. we have a chance of an afternoon shower or thunderstorm up north of the region in parts of northern bucks and montgomery county. you can see that up there. thunderstorms probably not severe, but you always want to
take cover from those because of threat of lightning and there could be a wind gust if we get a thump of rain. sun and clouds in the lehigh valley. high today of 89 up north in the lehigh valley. down the shore clouds an sun, 76 is the high. it will be humid, but not as hot right down by the cool ocean water. in philadelphia, a hot and humid high of 90 degrees. if we hit it, that will be the second day in a row because we did manage 90 yesterday afternoon. we have a mix of clouds and sun, winds out of the south southwest 14 miles per hour not all that strong partly cloudy and muggy overnight tonight. 68 degrees is the overnight low. high pressure will be in control off the coast for the next three days that will keep us humid with highs in the 90s for the next several days. we're watching an area of low pressure that could be a tropical storm on the seeft -- southeast coast this will bring
clouds and showers down south. it will be cloudy on monday, there's periods of monday looking wet with showers and thunderstorms. not a washout, just periods of the day that are unsettled. for the holiday weekend at the shore, 78. tomorrow, 76 sunday, chance of a shower or perhaps a thunderstorm here or there. in the poconos, 82 a thunderstorm possible today probably dry tomorrow and monday 74 are a shower or thunderstorm not out of the question. in philadelphia, today's high, 90. for the weekend, 92. likely dry on saturday, 90 on sunday, still hot and humid, mainly dry and monday not as hot high of 79 degrees, still humid and the chance of a period of showers or thunderstorm although the entire day not a washout. some of the models right now suggesting that the morning might be a little showery and in the afternoon spotty precipitation. gets nice after that next week. 5:12, still ahead on "action news," the super bug doctors have been dreading has

suburban traffic report we have trouble in bucks county a truck fire in the eastbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike close to the dell val interchange heading toward the connector bridge. they are blocking lanes from time to time. if i were you and coming eastbound on the turn bike, bail at bensalem. head to street road and up to 13 to 413 and use the burlington bristol bridge to get into new jersey. over on 422 on the off ramp to sanatoga, the exit for the outlets there's a crash that injured people. we have a downed pole in mercer county blocking river road route 29 close to washington crossing road. utility crews on the scene. use 579 or 31 in mercer county. time for the commuter report brought to you by the waze app, if you're heading to the shore, keep tabs on the delays. this morning in hamilton
township a crash along the black horse pike at 322. rescuers had to pull over a -- pull out i should say a dozen people out of a hidden river caid in kentucky -- cave in kentucky. two police officers got trapped, as well. it took over 100 to rescue the stranded students. everyone was accounted for and uninjured. now to the race of the white house, it is official donald trump has passed the number needed to insure the first ballot nomination at the convention. bernie sanders wants to face off with the billionaire businessman in the debate. mr. trump welcomed the idea but it came with a condition that
