good samaritans came to the rescue of one person trapped in floodwaters and livestock had trouble in the high waters in texas. this has millions across the country heading into the memorial day celebrations. abc adrien banker reports. >> reporter: from the funnel cloud in north dakota to raging floodwaters in texas that swept away two people in their vehicle warnings that the violent weather will take no holiday break this weekend. in conrow, texas rescuersed helped this woman crawl to safety. they saved my life. >> reporter: heavy rains left cattle struggling in neck deep water in waller county. if you're hitting the road this weekend, the road is hitting back with massive back ups in new jersey. record low average gas prices at 2:32 a gallon, 42 cents lower

hospital in critical condition after a crash on the boulevard. the man lost control in the feltonville section at 1:30 a.m. no word on what may have caused the crash. family and friends of a pastor who was killed in a hit-and-run are calling on the driver to surrender. leon was hit on the 2900 block of north front street in kensington. he had just dropped off a group from his church and was getting back in the van. whatever you asked him today, he was there. we know police are looking for an orderly model assault anh front end damage. police are looking for a teenager accused of setting a fire at north penn high school. the 17-year-old student is charged with arson. the multi-alarm fire damaged a band room and theater classroom.

students were sent home early because of the fire. from our new jersey newsroom, the dies will continue to roll in atlantic city. new jersey governor, chris christie signed a package of bills that will keep the financially strapped city from running out of cash. atlantic city leaders have five months to balance the budget for the next five years. if they fail to do so, the state will be able to take over the city's finances. verizon workers have put away the picket signs and preparing to head back to work. their 7 week strike has come to an end after the company and union reached a tentative deal for four year contract. 40,000 verizon employees in nine states and washington, d.c. could be back on the job as early as next week. there's still more to you mean come on "action news" saturday morning, they are the iconic brands associated with sears. we'll tell you why changes are on the way for kenmore and

developing this saturday morning, "action news" was on the scene here of this developing story as a medical helicopter transported two men hurt in a crash on the atlantic

city expressway. the accident happened around 3:15 a.m. mile marker 38 on the westbound ac expressway in winslow township. the vehicle they were in ran off the road and struck several trees before overturning. they are being treated for injuries at cooper university hospital. 6:12 the time. a frightening sight in the midwest. children coming back from the zoo saw this funnel cloud move be into fargo, north dakota. they got off the bus and took shelter in the school. at school, a tornado touched down a few miles away, but it did not hurt anyone or cause dispeer damage. back -- severe damage. back here at home, you can plan your day with meteorologist chris sowers. >> reporter: it's going to be hot and humid out there, especially compared to the cooler temperatures we've been enjoying over the last several

weeks. all of a sudden we've had a snap in the pattern. we have the heat and humidity, today will be in the 90s, as well. that's a shot of the camden waterfront. we are going to have rain later on, so get out there today and enjoy it. >> reporter: dewpoint, 59. once we get into the 60s we'll we'll experience more humidity. you will feel that. everyone is in the upper 60s, 67 to 69 degrees range in temperatures. satellite and radar, keeping it clear over the mid atlantic and the northeast states this morning as high pressure holds on for one more day. we have a cold front cutting through the great lake states. they have this tropical storm bonnie in the next four or five hours off the coast of the

carolinas. as this moisture comes inland the approaching cold front will lift it to the north an unfortunately deposit it over the delaware valley as we get into sunday afternoon and sunday night and monday. here's the latest on the tropics. right now it doesn't have a name, it's tropical aggression number 2. alex formed in january. winds sustained at 35 miles per hour. roughly 265 miles per hour southeast of charleston, south carolina moving slowly to the northwest at 7 miles per hour. the next couple of days it's going to sit here and spin. the center of the low never makes it to the north in the delaware and lehigh valleys. the tropical rain will get lifted to the north. as a matter of fact i'll show you that right here. future tracker 6 keeps it dry, mostly sunny conditions, high, thin clouds during the afternoon. tonight is comfortable, as well, nice, clear conditions, but then we get into sunday morning, the clouds will increase a lot quirk than what we were thinking yesterday. tomorrow is basically a cloudy

day, limited sun, clouds increase. by 5:00 p.m., we start to pick up the tropical downpour. the first part of sunday is dry, by afternoon and evening hours here comes the heavy rains, especially sunday night into monday morning. look at the reds and yellows and oranges. these are downpours dropping rainfall rates an inch an hour. this is sunday night into monday. the latest on bonnie. the remnants move in late sunday night into monday morning. tropical down spores expected. one to two inches of rain, some areas could pick up 3 inches of rain. localized flash flooding is possible. forecast for today, a gorgeous afternoon, a little hot and sticky. 92 degrees. 92 for the lehigh valley. upper 70s for the jersey shore. atlantic city, 78. cape may, 77.

got an early start to the long holiday weekend. hitting the boardwalk before the crowds show up. two cars collide in montgomery county. a is the bucks county business is damaged after an overnight fire. first, it is memorial day weekend the unofficial start to the summer season. we've seen a couple of people already on the shore in cape may, new jersey. what a lovely shot. the beaches will likely be filled later today as we heat up to summer-like temperatures. if your holiday weekend plans include going outside, folks, remember take the sunscreen. meteorologist chris sowers here with a look at the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. good news today. >> reporter: today maybe cool on the sand with the sea breeze. inland locations we're sweating it out, today will be a day with highs in the 90s. if we reach 90 degrees or higher that will be three in a row, that will go down as the first heat wave of the season. in the meantime, looking at the

they sell porsche, mercedes and lexus and bmw. there's no word on the loss or the cause of the fire. happening this morning philadelphia police are searching for the man who held up a supermarket at gun point. investigators say he walked into the acme on the 7700 block en street in chestnut. he pointed a gun at the cashier and ran off with the cash. philadelphia police are looking at surveillance video that could lead to the suspect of a man who beat a man walking his dog. it shows up coming up behind the suspect and beating him repeatedly. >> reporter: 12:00 a.m., surveillance video picks up

these kids trying to get into parked cars. at that time a 61-year-old man is out walking his dog. he walks up on the gentleman and asks for the time. he looks at the his phone and he cold cocks him and he fell on his side. the video shows the assailant jumping on the man and taking his cell phone. police have isolated the video who they believe is responsible he is in shorts an light colored hoodie and backpack. they think he is a teenager who lives nearby. we're asking the neighbors to identify the kids and call 215-686-tips. >> reporter: this is the person who police believed assaulted the dog walker. he was with a larger group of
