good morning, everyone it is 4:30 a.m., monday, may 30th. here's what we're following on "action news." accuweather is tracking a rainy end to the memorial day holiday. an electric current shocks a man who was swimming in a pool at the jersey shore. "action news" speaks to the teen who jumped into save him. we have an important consumer alert for parents more than 3 million seal proof cups for children are under recall. there's rain on the way, in fact, david murphy joins us along with matt pellman who is filling in for karen.
>> reporter: the way things are working out, early on we have heavy pockets of rain, you can see it in darker shades of red pushing into burlington county and i-95. there's additional showers pushing out of chester county into the northern tip of new castle county delaware, philadelphia in and out of lighter pockets they are not widespread, they are fairly brief. there's another one in new castle county and upper delaware bay and salem county and ac expressway and route 55 and camden county. pushing toward the northeast. another batch up by allentown. doesn't look like it will be around too much longer. spotty precipitation, where you're seeing it it is coming down heavy. it's not everywhere. we have flood advisories off the board at 3:30 p.m.
there may be flooding in and around philadelphia with the heavy cells and burlington county. beyond this we are looking at lighter precipitation. i think the precip will be in south jersey and delaware. the shore the wetter spot, most of us dealing with mostly cloudy skies. 71 degrees in philadelphia. 66 in allentown. 70 in wilmington. 68 in trenton. as we roll through the day it's going to be warm and humid. we'll steadily climb into the upper 870s boy 1:00 p.m. the -- 70s by 1:00 p.m. as we get into the afternoon, most of the area begins to dry out, the exception would be the closer you are to the coast, unfortunately not a great beach day today. i'll show you the rain progression on future tracker 6 and much better weather coming in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> reporter: you missed the year
of the cloud, why would we expect anything but a cloudy and rainy memorial day. good morning, david and good morning everyone. it's not a nice start on the boulevard extension because of a crash beyond the ridge avenue on-ramp. just a minute ago we had a vehicle facing sideways across the northbound lanes. they got the crash pushed off to the side north of ridge avenue. they are occupying that right lane, as well. at least now, traffic is squeezing by in the left lane as you come away from the schuylkill expressway on the northbound side of the boulevard this morning. for 15 minutes they had traffic stop. if you want to take this, head to hunting park avenue or the boulevard this morning. we are seeing huge puddles in and around philadelphia. one of on the schuylkill expressway eastbound on 30th street. when a car comes through you get the sense it's a log flume sort
of effect. take it easy as you head out on the memorial day monday. others will cook out and move indoors and others will find ways to pay tribute to the men and women who served our country. katherine scott is live at the vietnam memorial at penns landing. >> reporter: you do want to check before you head out today, some of the events will be held rain or shine or moved indoors. check before you leave this morning. at the vietnam veteran's memorial, two soldiers, master sergeants the first additions to the wall in the 13 years. in new castle, the delaware national guard will unveil new signs to name the headquarters
after former state attorney general and guard major beau biden. beau biden was deployed to iraq in 2008 and he died a year ago of brain cancer. that event is or shine. while some memorial events are going to take place regardless of the weather. there was downpours in turnersville, and center city. black horse pike was shut down for about an hour. the rain is coming after the heat we've seen over the last few days, and cutting some memorial day day events short. the penns landing memorial day ceremony will be at 11:00 a.m., and the vietnam memorandum arm
at 11:30. 93-year-old stu allen was in attendance, he his brothers and two stepbrothers all served in the armed forces. allen said the holiday always makes him think of his family and his band of brothers in the marine. they did it so willing and without any need for praise or anything like that, they knew it had to be done. tributes were held in philadelphia's bridesburg section. veterans held a memorial mass while members of the american legion visited cemetaries to honor the fallen. investigators in wildwood crest are trying to figure out how a man swimming in a motel pool was shocked by electricity and when bystanders were trying to help out, they were shocked, as well. i couldn't stop shaking. what i was going through
your mind. >> reporter: from his hospital bed ivan christopher mar mar tens was talking about how he was shocked trying to save a man in a pool. he heard him scream and slump over in the water. i called him, he wasn't responding. unaware greg subiszak was shocked by electricity he tried to pull him out. i told chris get out of the pool. chris went back up from the pool there was a filter he stepped on and there was an electric current up from the filter. >> reporter: a motel guest administered cpr until paramedics arrived. the owner said the pool was
inspected and bonded by an electrician a week ago. he thinks there may have been a short from a lamp post. marp tens said he -- mar martinez said he has weakness in his arm but expected to be okay. would you do it again? >> reporter: yes. greg subiszak is in critical condition at penn presbyterian. the pool will remain closed until the cause is determined and repairs are made, and county inspectors give the all clear. a reward is offered for information leading to the person who set to dogs on fire in chester. the animal welfare group is offering $1,000 for information. the dogs were found burning in an alley on the west 6th
street saturday night. they were inside a bag and may have been dead before they were set on fire. necropsies are planned to determine the cause of death. next week we'll have the final set of political primaries, california and new jersey head to the polls on june 7. bernie sanders said hillary clinton should not pick a moderate running mate. trump trmp told a crowd at a motorcycle rally that people who are in the u.s. illegally are better treated than veterans. trump spoke in honor of prisoners war and serb vis members listed in action. trump said he would defeat isis by building a bigger and better
military. libertarians elected johnson as their nominee. he said he believes a stands of chance of breaking through this year given the unpopular offerings from the democratic and republican parties. we have an update opt gorilla scare at the cincinnati zoo. a 4-year-old boy plunged into the enclosure and found himself in the arms of a 400-pound animal. a soccer star was abducted. david. >> reporter: we'll get warmer he e as we head into tomorrow. memorial day is the focus right now. we'll have future tracker 6 in a second talking about where the rain is going today and how long it lasts. evacuations are being
ordered in parts of texas as rivers and creeks continue to rise. 6 people died over memorial day in the floodwaters. two people are missing after their vehicle was swept off a flooded roadway. the floods follow torrential rain last week and of course we are dealing with rain around here. it was heavy coming into work this morning, david. a lot of people are wondering what to do if they have outdoor events. >> reporter: things will get better away from the shore. some of it may creep up late this morning and into this afternoon into areas in south jersey and close to philadelphia. we'll show you that on future tracker 6. right now we have a speckled pattern of precipitation. it's heavy in spots and down the road from the spots you're not looking at much at all happening. as we look at storm tracker 6 live double scan the heaviest
band of rain is pushing east of philadelphia and east of trenton. we have lightning strikes in northern burlington county and him or mercer county. become in philadelphia it's lighter precipitation, and we have had heavier stuff come through and there's concerns of flooding in and around philadelphia. there's northeast philadelphia around near sears on the boulevard used to be and toward bensalem. that area got heavy pockets of rain. there could be street flooding up until 6:15. the water should recede a little bit. as we look outside we have cloudy skies across the region over the battleship new jersey, and appropriate theme this morning given the fact it is memorial day. of course, we are honoring our fallen veteran and if you see any active veterans or retired veterans shake their hands and
saying thanks for their service. we have a dewpoint of 69 degrees, you will feel the humidity as you step outside. in terms of. rain we have spotty showers and even a couple of thunderstorms. by 9:00 a.m. we get into a lull across the region with a spotty shower here or there. going up to noon, showers build back in down at the shore and we can't rule out a spotty pop-up shower in and around philadelphia or points south. looks like the northern and western suburbs will be okay, might see peeks of sunshine up there. then we get back up into the 2, 3:00 p.m. period and additional showers build in across south jersey and coming close to philadelphia and again the northern and western suburbs look okay for the memorial day ceremonies all the way up until 2:30 p.m. or 3:00 p.m. we get into 5:00 p.m., things die down, unfortunately by 5:00 p.m. looks like you ever a chance of a mostly dry ride home. later tonight we'll be watching the northern and western suburbs
as one last line of showers and perhaps a thunderstorm could pop into places like allentown and reading. it does look like it false apart before it makes it to philadelphia. that's the future tracker 6 play on this, rain in the morning drier in the afternoon, most of your water down by the shore and down closer to the ocean. 70 degrees by 8:00 a.m. 73:10 a.m. 76 by noon. it will be warm and muggy, 78 degrees. humidity levels may drop off a little bit as we go through the afternoon. unfortunately not a great beach day, cloudy and showers. cooler high of 74. up in the poconos it will be overcast and there could that shower or thunderstorm chance here or there through the afternoon or into the evening with the high of 72. high temperatures across the region. 82 in allentown. 78 in wilmington, 78 in philadelphia. a little bit cooler as you get closer to the shore. tomorrow things change for the better. the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast, rain mainly early in the day, less in the

he was part of mexico's 2014 world cup team. there seems to be no motive for the abduction. the 4-year-old boy who fell into the gore gorilla enclosures out of the hospital. a 400-pound gorilla stood over him and pulled him away. witnesses say they thought the gorilla was protecting the child and became startled by the screams of onlookers. the special response team said they decided to shoot and kill the gorilla. this is the first time a visitor got in the exhibit in its 38 year history. a man was severely injured in the town of floyd in central new york. the 52-year-old guard burns on his hands and arms. they are trying to determine if the malicious act was connected to the victim's profession.
