invasion sparked a police pursuit that went through two counties. >> more flooding in texas leads to more lives lost and could push up a waterway higher than ever in recorded history. >> but first up let's head over to dave murphy. he's taking a look at accuweather around here. and matt pelman is in for karen taking a look at traffic. good morning. >> we're starting outweigh little bit of cloud cover and some coastal fog. some of that skipping up into areas close to millville but you can see how there's a lot of clearing out to the west. the rain from yesterday is now off the coast. we are actually transitioning to much better weather as we go through the morning and afternoon. 71 degrees out the door this morning for now. 70 in trenton, 70 in wilmington, 66 in allentown, 64 in cape may. and the dewpoints for now are still on the higher side. anything over 60 indicates noticeable humidity and we're up to 67 in philadelphia but there is dry air lurking offer to the north and west that's going to come sweeping in this morning and you'll feel that humidity drop during the. on the bus stop this morning partly cloudy, mild, still a little bit mug he go. nice temperatures though.
69 by 6 o'clock and by 8 o'clock all the way up to 73 and we're going all the way up into the mid to upper 80's this afternoon. work out weather today trying prevent myself from sneezing. i think it worked. 79 by 10 o'clock. 84 by noon. you can see how the cloud cover gives way to a lot of sunshine and then later today we get a high of 87 degrees with lower humidity. it will be warm enough for cool drinks if you're out there working out or doing something else outdoors but at least it won't be as humid and we are going to have bright conditions so sunscreen a good idea. matt it looks like this nice stretch of weather generally continues over the next few days. i'll have details in the accuweather 7-day. >> and bless in you advance. >> thank you 'cause it's coming back. >> good morning, david, good morning, everybody. we had a ton, a ton of shore traffic yesterday afternoon. miles and miles of delays especially on the garden state parkway. then everybody worked their way here to the a.c. expressway and once again this morning we do expect heavier than normal volume on the westbound side of the acx and the northbound side of 42. as we look live near winslow
westbound volume is still nice and light. but if you're coming up the parkway to head home, watch out. there's some emergency construction going on at the new gretna toll plaza in bass river township. they're blocking three of the toll lanes so that could cause some slowing as you head into central and north jersey this morning on the northbound side of the garden state parkway. gloucester township camden county still have that downed pole on the black horse pike southbound approaching church street where the library sits on the northbound side. and we had two disabled vehicles this morning, one on 95 northbound past cottman is gone but there's still one on the schuylkill eastbound right here approaching the conshohocken curve off to the side. matt and tam. >> thank you, matt. breaking right now, a man who carried out a brutal beating of a woman is still on the run this morning. >> and authorities also believe the suspect may have certainlsexually assaulted a te. >> "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at the special victims unit in hunting park with the full story. katherine. >> reporter: matt and tam,
the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. she had severe blunt force trauma to her head. that 13-year-old girl is believed to have been sexually assaulted. she was taken to saint christopher's hospital for her injuries. all remains under investigation and they continue to search for the man that they believe is behind this. this all happened in a house in front of overnight. the call came in just before 12:30 this morning in the 1900 block of pratt street a13-year-old girl told police she had been sexually assaulted in the basement by a family member and that the person was inside the home. police knocked on the door of the home. they got no response so the officers went to their neighbor's home and climbed over from the second floor landing. they looked through the bedroom window and saw a woman bleeding profusely from her head and face. she was missing several teeth. with the woman injured and the suspect potentially still inside the home the officers notified the swat team who made entry but the suspect had already fled. >> we know who he is.
he is a family member. we have his name. we have his information but he was not in the house. so, police right now are actively looking for this individual. >> reporter: and after the sex assault, the police say that the 13-year-old girl was able to flee the home, run to a neighbor's house. her neighbors called 911. again this all remains under investigation this morning. live from hunting park katherine scott channel6 "action news. matt. >> thank you katherine. a delaware county police officer was injured during a police pursuit that crossed into the city of philadelphia. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live at tinicum township police headquarters with the latest on this one. annie. >> reporter: matt we're told that the chase ended in philadelphia but it started in delaware county. we're told that a tinicum township police officer was responding to a home invasion in prospect park then saw a suspect fleeing from that home invasion and gave chase.
well, after the chase ended philadelphia police searched a large area around delaware avenue and spring garden. the chase between the tinicum officer and the person who is believed to be a suspect ended with a crash around girard avenue and the suspect fled on foot. this all unfolded around 10 o'clock last night. a 911 call for a home invasion in prospect park brought police to the 200 block of lafayette avenue. an officer saw one of several suspects jump into a vehicle. that sparked the chase. there are at least two other suspects that fled possibly on foot from the prospect park scene. now, back out here live, the police officer only suffered minor injuries and is okay. now, we're still trying to get word on whether or not they actually captured any suspects in this chase in that manhunt at all. right now we're not getting anything from tinicum township police. in fact they're telling us that prospect park is now handling this case. so, we're still waiting to find out, of course, if there's anyone else that they are currently looking for. we are reporting live from tinicum township police, annie
mccormick, channel6 "action news." back to you. >> okay, annie thank you for that. philadelphia police are looking into an accident involving one of their own. chopper6 hd was over the area around frankford avenue and wellington street just after 10:00 p.m. last night. this is where a police cruiser and a civilian's car crashed into each other. so far no word on serious injuries to anybody in either car. >> ♪ >> new on "action news," the search for three people who carried out an armed rob real in the city's roxborough section. it happened along the 500 block of gary hard street yesterday morning. a woman tells police she was about to unlock the front door of her house when three masked men confronted her and her two friends. the robbers stole purses wallets credit cards and iphones and took off in the woman's blue 2008 acura. none of the victims were injured. >> it is 5:06 and the preliminary results of an investigation into the pennsylvania state e-mail scandal will not be released today. attorney general kathleen kane ordered the independent review
in december. she says inappropriate content was found in e-mails on state servers. kane alleges judges prosecutors and others in the criminal justice system have been viewing and sharing this content. her office said they would release the report today but now they say they need more time. the review is not expected to lead to any criminal charge. kane is charged with leaking confidential grand jury information. residents of some southeast texas counties are bracing for more flooding after several days of torrential rains. the river could crest at 53 and a half feet today and that is 3 feet over the previous record. eight people have died and two people are missing in this flooding. in south carolina the remnants of tropical storm bonnie dropped 8-inches of rain causing a 16 hour closure of i-95 just north of the georgia state line. >> we're going to take a break from the rain today. >> yeah, we are. lots of sunshine on the way. might be a little cloudy in some neighborhoods early on. storm tracker6 live double scan though shows you that the
rain is history and as we take a look outside we have as i said some early clouds over the ben franklin bridge but out to the north and west of the city, the clouds are beginning to break up and overall we expect to return fairly quickly this morning to mainly sunny skies. your current number profile, 71 degrees in philadelphia. 70 in wilmington. 70 in trenton. 66 degrees in allentown. and more of the same in reading. mid 60's all the way down to lancaster. 66 in millville and dover and 64 this morning for that early morning walk in cape may right along the sea front. satellite shows that you clearing i'm talking about. the rain is also out of here. we had a little line of showers and thunderstorms last night that just kind of fell apart as they tried to come down from the northwest and overall yesterday did work out with rainy conditions at the shore but most of us drying out inland. mostly sunny today in the lehigh valley and definitely dry in fact not only do we not have rain but the humidity levels are going to drop during the morning and the afternoon while warm with that high of 86 will feel more comfortable with that lower humidity.
same story at the shore. starting out a little humid in the morning but humidity lowering as the day goes on. mostly sunny, 75 on the beach this afternoon in case you're extending that holiday weekend. ocean temperature still a little bit cool for a dip and then 87 degrees is your high in philadelphia, mostly sunny, not as humid as it was yesterday especially as we move later into the morning and afternoon and winds turning out of the northwest at six to 12 miles per hour. for the nats and phillies tonight at the ballpark nice night. mostly clear skies, 85 degrees for the first pitch. 74 in the ninth inning. no need for a jacket tonight and then overnight we dip to 66 which isn't too bad. mainly clear, comfortable winds light. some suburbs probably getting down closer to 60 tonight and then tomorrow, frontal boundary still down to the south, humidity stays low. we drop a few degrees off the temperature but it's still nice. sunny, 83 degrees and probably staying pretty nice on thursday. eventually this system out to the west will push back through and we'll get a little more unsettled. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, we're going for a high today of 87 degrees. sunshine.

a lot of people back to school, back to work today. >> yeah, the problem with today versus yesterday it's not a holiday anymore so these people have to get back to work and back to school. we're helping them out with a pretty nice ride on the way so far as you come out of the burbs just a broken down vehicle along the schuylkill expressway. eastbound side between conshohocken and the curve looks like penndot's there now helping them out and the good news is both of the eastbound lanes are opened and ready for you with no delays. still light volume at this point. but on 76, the pennsylvania turnpike, portion, there is some overnight construction. didn't have a lot of that because of the holiday yesterday but there is some work in the eastbound direction by downingtown. partially blocking the shoulder and the off-ramp from the eastbound lanes to downingtown so watch out for that if you're headed toward route 100. coming south on the northeast extension of the pennsylvania turnpike, maybe back from the poconos this morning, so far so good with a lot of speeds in the 60's and no issues reported in the lehigh valley. yesterday morning we started out really wet with some flooding in fact in mount
laurel and that closed union mill road all day long yesterday. it is reopened for you this morning. so, no complaints there. but nearby with the commuter report we're getting word of a vehicle stopped on the road along the new jersey turnpike northbound side north of exit four for route 73 in mount laurel. so watch out for that vehicle. couple people reporting that situation. in gloucester township camden county still have that downed pole along the black horse pike southbound approaching church street. that's where the camden county library sits on the northbound side. and coming back from the beach this morning watch out for emergency construction on the garden state parkway northbound at the new gretna tolls. three of the toll lanes are closed there. matt. >> okay, matt, thanks. new on "action news" here, authorities in florida discovered a dead body in a canal that was being eaten by two alligators. police do not believe the alligators killed the man saying it appears the body had been in the water in davey for white quiet some time. they managed to shoe the gators away from the body but the animals lingered nearby as divers and a trapper were
called n the medical examiner will determine the cause of death. >> also new on "action news," an experience in competitive college swimmer died over the weekend while auditioning to be a lifeguard. a 2016 graduate of the state university of new york's courtland campus school officials say he held two school records in the breast stroke. he was participating in a lifeguard fitness test when he went missing. prosecutors are surrounding the circumstances surrounding his death. a taxi crashed into glass doors at o'hare international airport in chicago. this happened at the entrance to terminal three. you can see the shattered glass doors. police say no one was injured. the driver was cited for failing to reduce speed before crashing. all on tha operations at the ait are going on as normal. >> the pitcher aaron nola will be on the mound. hellickson threw seven

>> new on "action news" firefighters in china had to free this guy whose head got stuck in a washing machine. the fire department says it happened while the man was trying to fix the machine's drum. the man's roommates called police after noticing he couldn't get his head back out. crews spent an howry moving the drum with his head still inside it. then they broke the drum and finally freed him. the man was not seriously hurt. he was completely clean.
