let's go closer with storm tracker6 live double scan. with double scan we can show you exactly what's happening. we have seen 40 miles an hour winds with some of these storms and a quarter inch hail is possible. right now it's not producing lightning at the moment but earlier we did see that. so it's right here near route 49 in south jersey near tuckahoe and can you see on double scan not only areas of red but a little purple as well which is often a good indication you're getting hail with this system. right along route 50 and mays landing we had this little cluster of storms popping up and there's one model that's suggests in south jersey and southern delaware we could see a few more pop up through the early part of the day so we're watching that very closely with storm tracker6 live double scan. the rest of us are dry and actually clear skies. it's 60 in martin's creek, 65 in saint davidsing 72 in center city. at a is a day that's really comfortable. 63 in browns mills, 66 in hammonton, 70 in woodbine, 68 degrees in dover delaware. now how about the dewpoints, the measure of humidity way down there in the city 54 and
reading 56. no humidity. more so though the farther south and east you go. so here's what you can expect today. we'll have a high of 86, pretty comfortable for this time of year. bright and sunny but if you're in southern new jersey and southern delaware we're watching for that shower or thunderstorm, the first part of the day we're going to show you some of the hottest air mass of the season hitting our way in that seven-day forecast matt. >> we'll brace ourselves. good morning karen. police are preparing for next week the democratic national convention overnight last night. they had ramp in 95 northbound to broad street this ramp right here shut down. as you can see it's no longer closed. it has reopened and is available for you this morning. of course it closes at 10 o'clock friday night and it will be closed pretty much all next week. what was not closed overnight was the vine street expressway. construction here was canceled and we're hearing the crews won't return until after the convention so the beginning of august. enjoy your little break along the vine street expressway which is looking good this morning. had some overnight work in christiana closing the ramp from route seven to high was
one southbound. that should be reopening right about now but there was also an overnight crash on the delaware memorial bridge headed into new jersey at the mid span and as you can see speeds right now are just in the low 20's. you might want to use the commodore barry if you're traveling into new jersey instead of the delaware memorial this morning. outside live in millville this is route 55 at 49, pretty dark scene but karen has been telling us about the storms rolling through this area. i would expect wet conditions although at the moment we're not seeing any lightning here in millville cumberland county. matt, tam. >> okay, thank you, matt. and we begin with breaking news this morning. a gruesome scene overnight a man was found dead shot several times just feet from a nearby fire station. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live near the 200 block viola street in the parkside section of the city. she's got the details. good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. this man was shot and killed right outside his home here in parkside and detectives now are trying to figure out why.
they're interviewing witnesses and they're interviewing family members. police actually just moved the crime scene tape back here on the 4200 block of viola street. it happened right down the street from here. just before 2:00 a.m., police on patrol heard several gun shots and found the 22-year-old victim lying in the street. he was unresponsive gun shot wounds to his head. medics from the nearby fire station rushed over and pronounced dead him dead at the scene. the victim had just parked his car in front of his house and then went inside. a friend had been waiting by his car. and just a few minutes later the victim came back out, two men emerged from a vacant lot nearby, they were both wearing ski masks and white t-shirts and both had guns, possibly revolvers. police say they chased after the victim and opened fire. >> when the victim collapsed in the 4200 block of viola, both of the shooters stood over the victim and continued to stand over his body and
fire shots from point range. >> reporter: and witnesses told police they heard about five or six shots and then the shooters led back to that vacant alley where they came from. again this all remains under investigation. police still don't know the motive t live in parkside, katherine scott channel6 "action news." >> katherine thank you for that. a fast moving fire in which of the county overnight. the flames broke out just before 1 o'clock this morning on the 2300 block of yellow springs road in tredyffrin township. at one point the fire was shooting through the roof. no one currently live in the home. fire crews are still working to find out what kicked off the blaze. no one was injured. >> donald trump is now the official republican nominee for president. delegates at the gop convention formally nominated trump and his running mate indiana governor mike pence last night. trump addressed the convention briefly by video he from new york last night thanking them. "action news" caught up with

single digit 2014. court documents say frein carried out the attacks to start a revolution aimed at getting liberties back. >> it's 5:08. in south jersey a diabolical case of animal abuse. vandals tossed bird houses into a burning fire pit with the birds still inside. a scorch patch of earth marks the site where this happened two weeks ago at the saint michael's farm preserve in hopewell township mercer county. burned bodies were found but five small purple martins survived that fire. they're being cared for at the mercer county wildlife center. >> horrifying really. it's pointless. i can't understand why even it would be fun for somebody to do that. >> it's someone with extreme mental health issues that needs treatment right away and needs to be taken off the street or a person that's inherently evil that needs to be punished for what they have ton. >> the wildlife center asking for donations to help them care for the birds.
>> turning now to accuweather and karen you've been watching these storms in south jersey and the potential hail right now. >> i know, hard to believe when we have clear skies. >> sure. >> in philadelphia north and west. it's one specific area so let's get to it right now with storm tracker6 live double scan around the area and you see this very small cluster but affecting south jersey. i want to go closer right here with double scan because we're seeing these storms kind of fire up right here near fortescue, route 47, near route 49 in tuckahoe, near route 50, certainly in sea isle city like sitting on the beach right there. i just want to show you a different view of this one right here. now, a couple minutes ago we were seeing areas not only of red but even purple with this storm system right here. you can see how it's dissipated just a little bit. when we see purple often indication coming down you can see hail with this. that's what the national weather service says we were expecting with some of these storms. nasty in south jersey in that one area. let's go outside and see wait looks like elsewhere around the region.
we have clear skies what a difference in the story here as we look live on sky6 not that far away here at the center city skyline. and checking those current conditions for you, it's 72 degrees, the dewpoint way down there. really comfortable. 54. even nicer than yesterday morning. the barometric pressure holding steady. the winds out of the east-northeast just a little bit of a light breeze. the ocean temperature warmer than yesterday and 88. satellite6 and action radar showing clear skies throughout most of the northeast. o other than this little cluster that just started to formulate last night down to the southwest through washington, maryland and now in south jersey. we're watching that pretty closely because on this model i've noticed look at this at 9 o'clock in the morning with future tracker, showing another cluster trying to form here near millville but especially in dover and into wilmington and the national weather service hayes we are watching for this to develop in southern delaware so while everyone else will be seeing sunshine he we're watching for a small cluster of storms this is at 1:30 in the afternoon that could still develop in there in delaware and extreme

the third lane should be opened in each direction in just a couple of weeks. they're saying early august you'll get this third lane opened up between 30 and 401 so that's some good news, something to definitely look forward to. had a broken down vehicle in whitemarsh, township along skippack pike east of butler pike. that's been reopened there. water main break in bridgeport county along forth street at depot street. sounds like you can squeeze by that. most of the activity is on the shoulder. construction activity on the pennsylvania turnpike coming eastbound near downingtown. right lane is blocked so you're seeing a little bit of slowing there as you travel toward valley forge on the eastbound side of the pennsylvania turnpike. also have the right lane blocked on the new jersey turnpike in camden county. southbound side near exit three and the on-ramp from 168 to the southbound lanes is partially blocked. that work going until 6:00. in folsom until 6:00, three he 2322 isclosed
in south philadelphia object on the road reported along 95 as you head southbound over the girard point bridge. matt -- i mean tam -- no, who are you, tam? [laughter] >> shots have been fired at two new york city police department officers narrowly missing them. it happened in brooklyn. the officers were not hit. officials say four men drove past the officers in a car and shot at them as they were walking. the suspects then fled the scene and dumped the car. authorities are still looking for the gunman. it's unclear if the officers returned fire. >> the death of a kansas police captain marks the fourth officer killed in the line of duty in the u.s. since sunday. officials in kansas city kansas say officer robert melton was investigating an earlier report of shots fired. the 46-year-old pulled up to a person matching the suspect's description who then opened fire before melton could even get out of his patrol car. melton was rushed to the hospital but doctors could not save him.
police believe they have the cop killer in custody. >> new on "action news" a woman in the lehigh valley has been hit by a bus. the accident happened yesterday at fourth and linden streets in allentown. police say it appears that the 60-year-old woman was crossing the street and was hit while the bus was making a right turn. the woman was taken to the hospital in critical condition. >> the phillies have hit another funk. they can't win in extra innings. their bats were silent in last night's two to one loss to the marlins in 10 innings following an 11 inning loss to the miami marlins on monday. the phillies finish with five hits yesterday giving them a total of 10 in their last three games all of which they lost. jeremy hellickson pitches tonight. >> 5:18. coming up women undergoing in vitro fertilization have long worried that the procedure could raise their risk for breast cancer anew study focused on those fears. >> some say the end is near for fox news chief roger ales. he
