>> you're right yesterday was soupy. today will be humid but not quite as bad and then tomorrow things get even better. for now we've got clouds giving way to a few sunny breaks through the morning but fairly overcast and there's the chance of a spotty pop-up shower or thunderstorm today although i think most of you either stay dry or have the majority of the day dry. 73 degrees heading out the door this morning in philadelphia. 72 in allentown and very similar numbers in trenton allentown millville and down in cape may. pretty much everyone in the low 70's this morning. and dewpoints an indicator of that humidity are still in the 70's down south in cape may and dover so somewhat impressive oppressive down here but down into the played to upper 60's in the i-95 corridor and points north so humid but not quite as bad as yesterday. if you have plans to get out and get that early workout done just hydrate ahead of time as it is still a little bit on the sticky side but not bad, dry. not a whole lot of sun. 71 degrees, some sunny breaks. 77 by 10 o'clock. 79 by noon and your high today is a pretty manageable 82. that's several degrees below average.

again a-slight chance of a spot he tea storm or shower popping up. but most of the day does appear to be drive. matt pelman we've got a guy named earl down in the tropics possibly getting ready to spring up. we'll talk about that coming up and then have the rest of the seven day. >> might have a guy named earl here as well whose car doesn't want to run. i'm not sure what his name is but unfortunately his car is not running david here along 95 northbound right at the off ramp to cottman avenue. you can see he's off to the side on that off ramp so the three lanes headed northbound here through the work zone are opened but watch out for him as you come northbound past cottman. he's got his flashers on at least, poor guy car just doesn't want to go. the construction crews have gone. they've left the vine street expressway. everything reopened in both directions between the schuylkill and broad street. you're good to go now. those crews do return tonight at 11 o'clock in they'll close the vine down once again. watching a couple accidents out there this morning. one's here in chester county. partially blocking the ramp from route 29, the malvern interchange to the eastbound side of the pennsylvania

turnpike. also still have some construction going on in hamilton township mercer county. you've got another half hour of this along 295 southbound past arena drive the right lane is blocked. if you're headed to the vin center town diner for breakfast this morning watch out, there's a downed traffic light blocking 206 on 38. stay on smithville road to get around that. in monroe township a crash along malaga road at new brooklyn road by new brooklyn united methodist church. no issues this morning on the a.c. expressway. tam. >> thank you, matt. this is breaking news in atlantic county new jersey a young woman just making her way through a crosswalk lost her life. the victim of a hit-and-run driver. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live near the scene in galloway township. good morning, katherine. good morning, tam. and police are still searching for the driver at this hour. the victim was walking across the street in the crosswalk at this intersection when she was struck and killed here in galloway township last night. from witnesses investigators

were able to put together a general description of the vehicle. it's described as a silver older model chevy at a low or suburban possible al 90's model and should have front driver's side damage. police were on the scene for hours gathering evidence overnight. the victim has been identified as 27-year-old aubrey service from little egg harbor. this happened around 10:20 last flight on white horse pike and sixth avenue. witnesses told police that service was walking across the crosswalk at the intersection when the silver suv traveling west in the left lane ran a red light. she was struck and vaulted forward. service was pronounced dead at the scene. the vehicle then took off. this is a busy corridor. there are a lot of businesses along here so of course investigators will be looking for surveillance footage to see if there's any that can help in this investigation. live in galloway township katherine scott channel6 "action news." tam. >> katherine thank you. 150 firefighters worked for three hours to douse the flames of a strip mall in

doylestown bucks county. a three alarm blaze burned through gsi bath and kitchen along north main street yesterday evening. officials say kitchen and bath cabinets stocked inside fueled that fire. the store is not opened on mondays so authorities believe no one was inside while the fire was burning. however, five people including three firefighters were sent to the hospital with heat related issues. >> chaos erupts inside a crowded wawa. now police are looking to track down the vandals who trashed the place and assaulted one of the customers. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is lie outsid live oue store. >> reporter: that person is a good samaritan. lucky for him he was there to actually break up the fight. lucky for the wawa employee there. brawl happened here at this wawa on friday. now, we he do know who the good samaritan s-he has come forward to "action news" and we did speak to him and police are still looking for the people involved in the fight. take a look fists flying

during a friday night brawl at the tours down levick wawa. what caused the ruckus is still unclear. when one or two people in that family started screaming focusing their anger at a wawa employee a good samaritan steps in. this woman witnessed it. >> and another customer came to the worker's defense and then they started fighting him. and then they all -- it was a bunch of them, they all was family related, they all related and they started tearing wawas up. >> and they were trying to jump one of the cashiers and they started trashing the store when they couldn't get to her. i went outside and called the police. when i tried to stop him his family or his friends or whoever they were just tried to jump on top of me and beat the crap out of me. >> reporter: police are investigating the vandalism of the store that followed the aggressive attack on the employee. >> we have people that aren't dealing with a clear head and they are irate for whatever reason and acting in a way that these individuals are

and cumberland streets no questions asked. >> time now to turn to dave murphy. we had some thunderstorms yesterday. what can we expect today. >> today there's a slight chance of a spotty shower or storm i think most of us will be dry. the threat is not what it was yesterday tam. storm tracker6 live double scan shows you we're dry right now across the region a couple showers up north of new york city and that's it. also a we take a look outside we have sky6 looking at the platt bridge in south philadelphia and we're starting out like yesterday with a fair amount of cloud cover and i think today will feature clouds and some sunny breaks at times. 73 degrees is your current temperature. the dewpoint is down into the upper 60's. now, that's still an indication of pretty humid air. anything over 60 is considered humid. but it's down out of that 70-degree threshold for oppressive humidity so things getting a little bit better on that front and winds running light at 5 miles per hour. future tracker6 picking up the rain story and as you can see most of the day is dry. we get up to lunchtime and the model wants to put a little band of showers in through south jersey maybe an odd thunderstorm here or there and then we get later into the

afternoon and things are looking pretty good with maybe a little bit more sun coming through and even less of a chance of a shower. temperatures are also not going to treat us badly. we'll stay in the 70's through the morning. by noon up to 79. then by 3 o'clock your high is 82 degrees still holding close to that by 5 o'clock this afternoon. again clouds, some sun and just a slight chance of a shower around. temperatures across the region sorry about that lightning strike, there's a slight chance of a thunderstorm but that's probably overselling it a little bit. 82 degrees in allentown, 82 in philadelphia, 82 in wilmington and 78 degrees in cape may. a closer look at the schlor shows a lot of 78's from beach haven down to ocean city and the same story more or less in sea isle city and cape may. across the entrance to the delaware bay it looks like we're in the low 80's in rehoboth and bethany beach delaware. little bit of an on shore wind today. giants are in town against the phillies for a quick three game seven. warm and a bit humid tonight at the ballpark but not a bad flight for baseball. 79 degrees at the first pitch. 73 in the ninth inning and loan fully dry with that just

slight channel of a spotty shower around. then tomorrow things get even better. that frontal boundary well down to our south and the higher humidity air is down there, too, so we get a nice day tomorrow with a high of 84 and in the tropics there's an 80 percent chance right now of this cluster of precipitation turning into a tropical storm. if that happens it will be named earl and i know it says 80 percent chance in the next 48 hours. if you read the discussion they actually think that could happen later today and of course we'll let you know. i believe the next update comes at around 8 o'clock this morning. 82 is today's high and your exclusive accuweather 7-day clouds some sun mainly dry just a spotty shower or thunderstorm. tomorrow partly sunny and nice, 84 with lower humidity and 86 seasonably warm on thursday maybe a little more humid but these are basically two nice summer days and then warm and more humid on friday with a high of 89. a thunderstorm is possible at night. hopefully it misses bethlehem, musikfest opens up in bethlehem on friday night. saturday hot and humid with a high of 90 and a thunderstorm possible there at times. don't think saturday is a washout but it's one of those

nights and get those third lanes ready in each direction. this widening project has been going on for about five years now, so we're very happy to have those third lanes joining us later this week. meanwhile elsewhere on 2021 of our friends bearded runner out and about along 202 in tredyffrin says watch out there's an object on the road there. he was using the waze app one of the members of our 6abc commuter team which you can be, too, when you download the waze app -- a-z-e for free. 29 malvern interchange to the pennsylvania turnpike eastbound. that ramp is partially blocked. and on the northeast extension of the pennsylvania turnpike there's still some northbound construction between mid-county and lansdale taking out the right lane there. that should be out of the way before too long. in radnor township a new project got under way yesterday that's closing eagle road during the mid days through the end of the month. up are golf or 30 lancaster avenue some alternates around that work zone. in oxford chester county 472 lancaster avenue is closing

during the mid days. this is through november started yesterday. 9:00 until 3:00 you want to avoid 472. stick with scroggy road which turns into pine street or locust street would be another alternate. if you're leaded to the vincentown diana rocco 206 is blocked by 38 because of a downed traffic signal. maybe stay over on smithville road to get around that. nydia. >> okay, matt, thank you. two men in michigan risked their lives to save a stranger in a sinking car. the vehicle plunged into a lake after the driver suffered a medical emergency. the rescuers saw what happened and dove into the water. someone on shore threw rocks to them so they could try to break the car windows. police arrived a few minutes later armed with an ax to finally free the victim. he was incoherent but conscious. the city of flint, michigan known for its water crisis is now on the brink of another government break down. upset residents have been asked to store their garbage because a city contract expired. the mayor want to go to a new

>> ♪ >> welcome back. waking up to a pretty shot here. sky6 hd taking a live look at the ben franklin bridge. it is 5:56 and 73 degrees. headed up to 82. new this morning, a woman in northeastern pennsylvania jumped into action when she saw a toddler left in a hot car. police say the child was left locked in the car for about 30 minutes while his mother shopped at the price chop interwilkes-barre on sunday. bridget banek noticed a window slightly cracked open. she reached in unlocked the door and pulled the child out. the boy is in the care of luzerne county children and youth services and is doing okay. police plan to file charges against the mom. >> defense lawyers for monsignor william lynn plan to ask a judge to release the 65-year-old on bail. the pennsylvania supreme court ruled last week not to reinstate the conviction of the former philadelphia church official over his handling of priest sexual abuse. his conviction has now been overturned twice. prosecutors have not said whether they hope to retry lynn for a third time.
