"action news" reporter, annie mccormick is live at saint christopher's hospital where the child was taken for treatment. good morning, annie. >> reporter: good morning, tam, that's right, four people shot in the latest shooting, three adults, but the one everyone has their eye on this morning is that 6-year-old boy who was shot in the chest and in the arm, he
remains in critical condition at saint christopher's hospital. we'll take a look at the video from the scene. we are told this happened before 11:30 last night. 14 district officers responded to the 5500 block of west carson. multiple cars and homes were hit. police found 50 shell casings from multiple type ofs weapons, including -- types of of weapons, including ak-47 assault weapon. police believe the 29-year-old in the vehicle with the boy was the intended target. >> him and another 29-year-old male were located inside a vehicle en route to the hospital. that 29-year-old victim was shot five times, chest, stomach, both arms and leg. two other males, 29 years old and 32 years old were shot in
the extremities, once in the arm and one in the legs. this appears it was a running gun battle. there were casings on the streets and the sidewalk. there were multiple armed combatants and they were all engaged. >> reporter: the child was taken to einstein and stabilized there and taken to saint christopher's hospital. 215-546-tips you can remain anonymous. they have no information from neighbors. earlier this week, i was in front of the same hospital about the 6-year-old girl who was shot. they have not received tips in that case, either. they are urging people to call them, you can remain anonymous. annie mccormick channel 6 "action news."

let's look right now at the conditions for you, we had a highest heat index yesterday of 105. so the heat has been extreme and that's why we have the heat warning. we're not used to heat like that for an extended period of time. temperature, 82. dewpoint, 76. oppressive heat and humidity sticking with us. the barometer is falling. a little bit of a light breeze out of the southwest. it's a warm, sticky breeze. the ocean temperature is 74. what a change from yesterday in the low 80s. satellite and radar, we're seeing disturbances moving through. this is the ridge of high pressure where the heat is underneath of that. we're seeing disturbances ride along the ridge. we'll get a shower or thunderstorm, especially philadelphia north and west, but we can take a look at that at future tracker 6 showing not a big deal for us, a couple of showers or thunderstorms especially later this afternoon,
mostly north and west, the bigger issue for you, most of us dealing with the heat, the humidity, today's high, 96 degrees. it will feel like it's well over 100. it's hot and oppressively humid. just a spotty storm. one or two of those this morning, we'll see a couple of more later on. it will not break the heat. it is a prolonged stressful event. it's a good time to keep an eye on the elderly friends on the pellets. heat index will be 105 or higher. it's uncommon for us, people say oh, it's the northeast, we have the heat, but not this oppressive. you need to limit your outdoor activity. a lot of kids are home from school, you do not want to go outside and jog or play. go into a pool. it's hot and humid, 9 -6r is the
