extended the heat warning through sunday and expanded to it advisory covering the entire area the heat warning in the core of the philadelphia region because of the excessive heat and humidity. satellite and radar showing clouds. we continue to see a few disturbances that roll through. so, we have a chance of a spotty shower or thunderstorm. look at the temperatures, 81 in philadelphia. 80 in millville. wilmington, 77 in reading, 74 in allentown. even in the poconos you're in the low 70s at this hour. 96 degrees for the high today. hot and humid, chance for a spotty storm especially north and west. i want you to look at the heat index tracker here, at 8:00 a.m., you think i'll get my run in early, 8:00 a.m., feeling like 90. 10:00 a.m., 96. lunch time, 102. 105 to 106 in the afternoon. we'll talk about how long it
lasts, matt. >> reporter: i'll be at your place with my pool ring so get ready. good morning, everybody we're live in bucks county we have wet roads because of showers that rolled through. this is not wet, it has construction in falls township, the super highway at 113 southbound side, both lanes are open as you head toward the oxford valley. vine street expressway eastbound is getting readied to open. westbound is open. we have construction south on i-95, 16 miles per hour passing christiana, the zones between 141 and the delaware service area a couple of lanes out here until 5:30 a.m. you might want to stick with route 2, 4, or 40.
here's a live look at 42 overnight construction has cleared out, so everything is reopened on this friday morning. tam. >> thank you, matt. this story breaking overnight. there are bullet casings everywhere on a germantown street we're talking over 50 of them. a running gun battle hit four people including a little boy. the child was sitting in the car on east ashmeade street. annie, i hate this story and i hate the fact this is the second time this week that we've come to you with news of a child being shot in crossfire. >> reporter: second time this week out front of this very same hospital and dealing with a 6-year-old that was shot. in both cases, police need tips from the public. the case a couple of days, the little girl police officers say they have received no tips at
all from the public. in the latest shooting last night they say they are not getting cooperation from the neighbors. if you cull 215-546-tips -- 686 tips, you can remain anonymous. the scene last night shortly before 11:30 p.m., 14 district police officers responded to wes clark son. multiple cars and homes were hit. police say the 6-year-old boy was hit twice in the chest and the arm. they think he was in the car with the 29-year-old who was shot five times. there were three adults that were hit in this. police found two other men, 29 and 32-year-old one shot in the arm and the other in the leg, police found 50 shell casings from multiple guns including an ak-47 assault rifle. >> you see behind me, 34 spent
and 20 ak-47 assault rifle casings, and 10, 40 caliber handgun rounds 29-year-old man who was in the vehicle on wister street might have been the intended target. that vehicle has 7 holes in it along the drivers side. i have to think the male was the primary target. >> reporter: police are calling this an all out gun battle with multiple weapons used multiple people engaged in the gunfire. there were three adults that were hit with gunfire, one of them five times, one hit in the leg and one in the arm. those adults remain at einstein hospital. but again, the 6-year-old boy is in critical condition with a gunshot to his chest and one to his arm. hoping that he gets well. reporting live in hunting park,
annie mccormick channel 6 "action news." >> fire damaged a garage in the city's fern rock section near 13th and godfrey avenue before 1:00 a.m. firefighters quickly put out the fire, nobody inside the home above the garage was hurt. it's not clear what sparked the blaze. this morning a gas main fire is out after burning for more than 8 hours near the garden state parkway. chopper 6 was over the fire ocean heights avenue egg harbor township. south jersey gas said a live electrical wire fell on to a metal guardrail. that current traveled into a nearby 8-inch gas main causing it to ignite. nobody was hurt. one pilot had to deal with a dangerous situation after someone shined a laser that was trying to land at northeast philadelphia airport. faa recreation shows you the kind of dangers it can pose.
philadelphia police say it happened at 7:20. they believe the laser came from woodhaven and author ton road. happening today, the trial of an army specialist goes on in lehigh valley county. he is charged with the brutal murder of the mother of his underage girl friend. the prosecutor rested their case without calling his former girlfriend to the stand. the now 15-year-old girl was expected to testify against barns as part of a plea deal. she pleaded guilty of planning the killing of her mother. she has sentenced 35 years to life in prison. the 22-year-old barns is accused of stabbing the mother in the driveway of the home last april. shirley strongly apposed the relationship with an adult man. defense argues that jamie killed her mother not barns. the perjury trial of kathleen kane continues today in
a norristown courtroom. josh marrow said he did conspire with kane to leak documents to a local newspaper. they planned to blame the leak on her top deputy and former boyfriend. king testified earlier saying that kane acted outside the law. sabrina carpenter returns home to perform at musikfest. rock band bush thrilled the crowd in bethlehem last night. it's okay to dance. this was one of the success of the bands back in the 1990s. musikfest continues through sunday and 6abc is proud to be the musikfest partner. >> i hope everybody was drinking water. >> reporter: matt o'donnell was
