new castle county, chapman road is reopened for construction you're good to go there. a father of 6 is dead and a woman was shot during a violent home invasion. a masked man burst into the home and opened fire. a 13-year-old child witnessed the whole thing. katherine scott is live along the 3700 block of north 7th street with the details. katherine. >> reporter: police are working on leads right now, they believe the victim knew at least one of the suspects, but this all remains under investigation, you can see the crime scene unit and other investigators remain on the scene right now, a 35-year-old father shot and killed his 40-year-old wife shot in the face, in critical condition. police say his 6 children between five and 13 years old were inside the home at the time this all happened. police believe several of the children were actually inside
the bedroom when the shooting took place. police were called out to the 3700 block of north 7th street in hunting park, shortly before 1:00 a.m. and police believe this was a home-invasion robbery turned double shooting. they say the men demanded money when they encountered the couple in the upstairs bedroom. the two men wore masks and armed with a shotgun. the father was shot in the abdomin and pronounced at the scene. his wife was rushed to the hospital in critical condition shot in the jaw and forearm. no injuries to the children reported. she was conscious and able to give police information. they also found evidence neesh. >> neesh -- nearby. 25th district police did a great job. they found in the rear driver way a sack -- driveway a sack with live shotgun she also --
shells and knit hat or mask. >> reporter: police say it's possible that the men entered through a rear kitchen window. it remains under investigation. you can see surveillance cameras in the area. they are hoping to pull footage that can help in the investigation. right now they do not have a detailed description of the suspects, although they have a nickname for one of the suspects. police believe the victims knew at least one of the suspects, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you, katherine. developing overnight, a gunman robbed a wawa in philadelphia's wees noaj section, police are -- wissinoming section. he fled with cash around midnight. 45 minutes later, and 8 blocks away, a robber held up a 7-eleven. once again a gun was used to get cash from the clerk. 7-eleven is on the 5200 block of
harbison avenue in bridesburg. police have not said they found evidence linking this heist to the wawa. police are looking for a man who is behind a deadly shooting and injury of a child. the suspect is samuel james. the vitamin byron turner died after being shot in the head. >> one of my cousins called me on the phone, i'm close with the family, i've been knowing him since he was a baby, since she had him. >> a five-year-old girl suffered minor injuries as she ran away from the gunfire. she was treated and released. a second person is behind bars in connection with the death of a penn state professor, authorities charged danielle guyer with murdering ronald bettig. they lured him to a quarry and
pushed him over an 80-foot cliff. they killed the 56-year-old because they thought they were listed as the beneficiaries in his most recent will. donald trump continues to window black voters, but critics say his temperatures are falling short. >> what do you have to lose, you're living in poverty, your schools are no good, you have no jobs. >> many black voters say they were insulted by trump's words calling the remarks short sight the and out of touch. >> those comments were for all americans, i'm white i was moved by his comments, he is telling americans we can do better. >> democratic nominee hillary clinton is trying to keep the spotlight on the recent shake up on trump's campaign including the resignation of paul maniford over his ties to the ukrainian

up in allentown, 80 degrees, mostly sunny and breezy with obviously lower humidity already in place in the northern and western suburbs. down the shore, muggy this morning, we'll see the humidity levels drop there, as well. it will be sunny and breezy, high of 82. right now we have an ocean temperature of 74. a great beach day assuming you bring along the sunscreen and the shades. in philadelphia, 84 degrees, a little below average for this time of the year. winds out of the northwest 12 to 25 miles per hour. lots of sun and sunscreen weather if you're out and about. warm enough for cool drinks, but a nice day. mainly clear and cool tonight dipping to 62 overnight low in philadelphia. i could see the suburbs dipping into the upper 50s. cool and comfortable low humidity and tad on the breezy side. high pressure in control
