out there. >> terrifying moments for a philadelphia police sergeant who was smacked out of his shoes and throw 50 feet by a suspected drunk driver. the driver tried to get away, but police ran him down. katherine scott is live from manayunk, good morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam, police say the sergeant is lucky to be alive after the heavy impact of this crash. he remains at einstein mfl -- medical center in stable condition. a philadelphia police sergeant in the hospital after a hit-and-run, a 21-year-old driver taken into custody. he did appear to be under the influence of alcohol. >> reporter: the 5th district sergeant was struck with such force he was ripped from his shoes, thrown 15 feet before 1:00 a.m. in manayunk. the sergeant was standing with two officers by a police vehicle during an active traffic stop
when police say a 2008 toyota came speeding south on main street by shurr's lane, it hit the sergeant sideswiped the police vehicle and took off. a tow truck driver followed the toyota and alerted officers. the car had damage consistent with the hit-and-run, including a missing mirror which remained on the scene. the sergeant was semi conscious when he was rushed to einstein. >> the accident not only caused the sergeant to get hit, but caused injuries to his hit, neck, he is bleeding from his right shoulder his right elbow and his knee. >> reporter: the driver was issued a breathalyzer, according to police he faces a long list of charges according aggravated assault and leaving the is in
effect. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> gunfire erupted in the germantown section of the city overnight leaving two people injured. it happened along the 5900 block of north 21st street. there were two shooters in separate locations. one gunman fired 6 shots inside a house where a woman was hit. several other people including several children were inside the home, but none of them were hurt. a man walking outside was the second shooting victim, it is unclear if the two shootings were related. we are expecting to learn more today about a woman who fell to her death while zip lining at a state park in delaware. it happened yesterday afternoon at lum's pond state park in bear. she fell 40 feet to the ground. she was rushed to the hospital where she died. others at go april adventure -- go ape, adventure, were shorkd.
shocked. the woman's identity has not been released. the director of go ape adventure extended its condolences to the family. police say this man is suspected of firing shots outside a convenience store two weeks ago. they need your help. surveillance video shows the man shooting into the air. police say the man buying candy inside the store is the same man. if you know him call reading police immediately. >> the operator of a day care center in wissinoming section needs your help, as well, finding a woman. they say a woman stole a purse containing two thousand dollars. the woman took the purse from

terrifying turn for one woman, a man approached her from behind and started beating her. the suspect punched her in the face several times resulting in a broken nose. the injuries require surgery. police are searching for the suspect. two flights two hours a part suffered bird strikes in jfk. the jet blue flight reported striking a bird at 8:30. singapore airlines flight 26 hit several birds, as well. officials were forced to close the runway. faa reported almost 14,000 bird strikes in 2014. >> also new, a michigan woman was pulled over for suspicion of dui, when the officer looked inside, she noticed the driver was not wearing any pants. dash cam video shows the moment the female officer pulled her over in troy and noticed she was
naked from the waist down. she convinced her to put more clothes on and arrested the woman for dui. she called a friend for a ride home and that driver was busted not too far from the police station and she was not wearing pants. a american airline pilot entered a no contest for drinking before a flight. he was removed from a flight back in march saying his blood alcohol level was twice the legal limit. he said he accepts responsibility for what happened and hopes to fly again. hope solo has been suspended for 6 months from the u.s. women's national team for conduct that is counter to the organizations principles. this stems from the comments after the loss to the sweden at the olympics, calling the swedish team cowards.
