let's turn to david and karen. good morning. >> we are off to a partly cloudy start. overall we are transitioning to partly sunny skies today t here's the visibility and we're down to under a half mile in millville and dover and anywhere you see these little patches of gray that's where the fog right now anyway is an issue. it could pop up in other spots later in the morning. we'll keep our eyes on that. temperatures are warm again in most spots. 74 in philadelphia, just 64 in allentown, 72 in trenton, 65 cooler degrees in wilmington and 73 in cape may but we are on the humid side this morning and there are some patches of dark green indicating the more oppressive humidity and unfortunately philadelphia is right in the middle of that. trenton also with a pretty high dewpoint also dover and cape may. so a bit on the sticky side this morning in some neighborhoods. as we roll through the day, 71 degrees by 7:00, 81 by 10:00 and then by, into warming up again to 86. it does look like we'll hit 91 this afternoon. we did manage 90 yesterday so
the heat wave continues. overnight there could be thunderstorms and we have to watch for any effects there might be from a couple of tropical systems. i'll detail that in the excuse sieve accuweather 7-day karen. >> yesterday was a mess with traffic david. we're off to a bad start this morning. this accident happened overnight. police say a tractor-trailer was driving so fast on 295 when he got onto 95 in this area near 141 he crossed all the lanes of the highway and smashed into a guardrail. take a look at the video. the action cam was on the scene and after the tractor-trailer smashed into a guardrail another car hit debris and moved off to its side and you see the tractor-trailer there on its side all happening right now on i-95 southbound at 141. this is in newkirk delaware. the ramp was closed overnight. the accident happened shortly after 1:00 a.m. fortunately only minor injuries but you can see that mess of an accident that shut down that ramp. state police tell me this ramp has just opened a couple
minutes ago. they're in the process, they cleaned up that scene right there and things are moving better. the action cam was on the scene. a messy accident. other areas of i-95 southbound at the betsy ross bridge construction. one lane gets basement you see penndot with the arrow board. a little bit slow in this area with construction blocking a lane. another accident on 422 eastbound the off ramp sanatoga watch for this accident also blocking the ramp matt and nydia >> motorcyclist and sped away. it happened in the ski's feltonville section at around midnight. investigators tracked down the vehicle a few blocks away but they are still looking for that driver. "action news" reporter katherine scott is live at the scene with the details. katherine. >> reporter: matt, the
58-year-old motorcyclist died at the hospital overnight. as you mentioned police did recover what they believe is the striking vehicle. however they're continuing to search for the driver at this hour. you can see that the motorcycle that was involved is still here at the intersection at whitaker and loudoun street in feltonville. this happened around 11:30 last night and police say the victim was riding a suzuki motorcycle south on whitaker when a 2000gmc yukon traveling north made a left turn into the path of the motorcycle. they he collided and the motorcyclist was thrown about 30 feet. when first responders arrived the motorcyclist was unconscious. he was taken to einstein medical center where he was pronounced dead shortly after midnight. a witness told police a yukon fled the scene west on loudoun and responding officers quickly found it. >> they saw a trail of what appeared to be antifreeze and motor oil. the officer followed this trail about five blocks.
and he found a gmc with heavy front end damage parked unattended in a rear driveway. >> reporter: that gmc was located at that drive way on the 5000 block of rohrer street. it had front end damage both air bags deployment it did not have a license plate attached and police say it's a possibility that it was removed to make it harder to track down the driver. debris from the scene matched the yukon including a gmc emblem which was found at the scene. the vehicle is being towed for evidence. we're live in feltonville, katherine scott channel6 "action news." back to you. >> thank you. a home invasion and sexual assault have a northeast philadelphia neighborhood living in fear. it happened along the 5100 block of neves street. police say a man wearing a ski mask broke into the home tied up the family inside and sexually assaulted a 25-year-old woman at gun point. the woman's father who didn't want his face shown spoke to "action news" about what
happened. >> she was just crying yelling and screaming saying a man broke in here and put a gun to my head. he had a gun. my whole family could have been dead right now. >> there were five adults and three children home at the time. philadelphia police would like to hear from you if you saw something or have information about the attacker's identity. >> reading police are looking for the man who robbed a bank while dressed as an elderly woman. it happened yesterday afternoon at the vitt bank. surveillance video shows the robber carried a purse. police say he handled teller a note demanding money. once he got the cash he ran weigh. >> donald trump is heading to mexico today. this is a last minute surprise trip for the republican presidential mom northeast it comes just hours before he's due to deliver a speech in arizona to clarify his views on immigration. democrat hillary clinton's campaign is calling the mexico trip a distraction from trump's policies.

and whether he remains committed to the splitting up of families and deportation of millions. clinton raked in $12 million in a three day fundraising swing in the hamptons. the state department says about 30 e-mails related to the benghazi attacks were recovered during the fbi's investigation into the former secretary of state's private e-mail server. clinton may have already turned over some or all of those e-mails initially but the state department said it needs time to review them. like trump clinton was also invited to meet with mexico's president. her campaign says she looks forward to it at the appropriate time. reporting in washington, kenneth moton channel6 "action news." >> happening today, democratic vice presidential candidate tim kaine will make a campaign stop in the lehigh valley. kaine will hold a public for numb bethlehem at 1:30 this afternoon. kaine has spoken in eerie pennsylvania yesterday described gop nominee donald trump's campaign as a con job. he said trump has utterly

could be worse. >> our friends in florida are also watching the seas right now. >> yeah, as are we. even the north carolina coast although things are getting better there. storm tracker6 live double scan shows you with all the stuff going on everywhere else we're still looking tranquil. we have sky6 looking town if the boardwalk and the boardwalk is a crowded place but in the water swim near the life yards and listen for those whistles. temperature is 74, dewpoint at 71. we're humid across the immediate region a lot of neighborhoods are going to wake up to that sort of high humidity today. winds are only running at 5 miles per hour. satellite shows that you there are some clouds around. there are also some areas of patchy fog. overall we're expecting any fog to burn off quickly today and overall partly sunny. the big story will be the heat and humidity building back in. 81 degrees by 10 o'clock, 86 by noon in philadelphia and your high at 3 o'clock today is 91 degrees and it will feel a little worse than that
because of the higher humidity. high temperatures across the region 89 degrees in allentown, 90 reading, 88 wilmington, more of the same in millville and the low to mid 80's down the shore although a closer look there once again shows that heavy surf and rip current combination again today not only in new jersey but town through our delaware beaches so again swim near the lifeguards. as we take a look at late tonight, after midnight or maybe around midnight and then overnight there is the chance as a front comes through of some rumble of thunder so you might be woken up by that in the overnight hours and then tomorrow the morning definitely looks a little showery and some models are projecting some of these showers and maybe a thunderstorm lingering into the afternoon as a frontal boundary has trouble getting through because of that tropical depression that will be going past us off the coast. it will probably be a tropical storm as it passes by so tomorrow a little you have family as for the tropics we have hurricane gaston back to a category three starting to pull away from us. tropical depression eight and nine still have not become
tropical storms. this one never really made to it north carolina. i started talking about that yesterday so the watches are down there but as it passes us by today and into tomorrow it could pick up some additional surf so we're still expecting some problems from that. the next tropical depression also expected to become a tropical storm later today and by thursday night now in there was the day on friday it's expected to go straight through the northern portion of florida. after that we'll is to keep an eye on it because it almost looks like it wants to curl back in toward the coast and that's not going to be an issue for us other than the fact that it will kick up our surf through the weekend but if you have plans to head up to cape cod for example for the labor day weekend you want to keep your eyes out for that and that are the spaghetti plot models. one comes into atlantic city but we're thinking it's more likely going to be more off the coast for us. and the rip current issue as i mentioned is going to last straight through the holiday weekend through all of our jersey communities and right down through delaware as well. out in hawaii too if you have plans on traveling there a you believe can of threats. one is a category one
hurricane madeleine today and another one is another cat one coming in for the weekends lester off to the north and pretty rare we get hit by hurricanes out in hawaii. your seven day hot more humid today a high of 91. overnight into tomorrow there could be some thunderstorms or showers hoping for p.m. sun on thursday an high of 84. after that it's beautiful. 83 on friday, saturday mostly sunny and 79 and 81 on sunday and then 86 a little warmer on monday but that is one nice labor day weekend. remember when we're not on the air you can always get the latest weather information by going to 6abc.com.com/weather ly and gent. >> tropics churning up. >> this is the time of year they usually get busy. >> a driver backing into a gas pump and tipping the pump into another car sparking a fire. it happened at a citgo station in farmington connecticut on monday. you can see a woman in that second car rushing to get two
children out of the back seat. within a short time flames completely engulf both cars. everyone got away safely. police say the driver had accidentally hit the gas causing the crash. no charges have been filed so far. >> authorities are trying to figure out if sun glare played a factor in a crash involving a ferry and a group of kayakers. the ferry was headed from manhattan to jersey city last night when it slammed into the kayakers seriously injuring one of them. five people in all were hurt. an instructor suffered the most serious injury. his arm was partially severed. authorities say a new york city police officer applied a tourniquet possibly saving the man's life. >> new here on "action news" a new york city woman is charged with staging a bizarre prank on the subway. police arrested 21-year-old zeda pew yesterday. she is accused of tossing hundreds of live crickets and worms onto a crowded subway train last wednesday as part of a video prank.
