here is a work zone you no longer have to worry about. today they reopened the walnut lane bridge over wissahickon creek and i drove across it this afternoon nice and smooth with wide sidewalks, enjoy it yourself. the walnut bridge is now open. and lehigh valley a crash near 145 south and lane blocked just 16 miles per hour on the approach, it's not a whole lot better, just 17 miles per hour on 22 eastbound, you may be better off staying local through allentown. wrapping up an opening at the burlington bristol bridge. it's open for a southbound ship heading to the tacony palmyra bridge. and a crash blocking the ramp from 55 southbound to 53. lets grab the ipad and do the commuter report.

>> the new york city fire department is mourning a loss of one of its own after a house exploded in the bronx. a patalon chief was killed and five firefighters and six police officers were injured. a father of three and a 17 year veteran of the department and

as we look at satellite and radar, the clearing line working in northern delaware in southern parts of new jersey and rain is off the coast and a clear sky off to the west and underneath the channel 6 icon on the left side of injure screen, that is low pressure wining up and that will pivot over kentucky the next couple of days. tonight partly cloudy and feeling like fall, 40s tomorrow morning north and west of town, 53 in millville and lower 60s at the shore from cape may to atlantic city. future tracker 6 as we look at the mid-atlantic region tomorrow. it's a beautiful start to your wednesday, a lot of sunshine and the clouds are increasing as that low sinks to the south over the ohio valley. moisture starts to pull in off the atlantic here you see by 9:00 tomorrow night showers developing to the south and east. and as that low interacts with that northeastly wind going into the day on thursday. we see heavy rounds of rain west

of philadelphia, we see where the heaviest rain accesses and the trough sets up and it will be north and west of philadelphia the heaviest rain and more likely flooding rain of 3 to 6 inches will be concentrated in eastern virginia and parts of pennsylvania. we'll watch this for our western suburbs we could see 1 to 2 inches of rain through the day on friday. going thursday into friday as this system really kinds of interacts with the wind off the water. tropical satellite this area of thunderstorms a 90% chance of becoming a tropical storm matthew, the trajectory take its into the caribbean over the weekend and then it takes a sharp turn to the north over the bahamas, we'll watch that along the east coast late next week. the four day at 4:00 forecast, turning cloudy and late rain on wednesday, and 75 degrees, thursday is a raw, windy rainy

schuylkill expressway it's right now bumper to bumper. today penndot in conjunction with septa announced this long range plan to ease the congestion, they want to make it easier to travel to and from center city and king of prussia. any motorist knows with the schuylkill expressway i-76 can look like almost any time of the day, bumper to bumper, stop and go. >> it's too crowded we don't use it, they need more lanes. >> now penndot and septa announced a long range plan. >> we believe this combination of real time traffic management and more frequent transit service and the improvement of signal systems on adjacent roads will make this corridor a smoother one for everybody to travel on. >> penndot plans to add new electronic signage to allow them

to remotely change the speed limit and penndot will move to allow traffic to use the outside shoulders as part-time travel lanes for the blue route and i-76 west between route 1 and belmont avenue. septa plans top replace and improve the conshohocken rail station and add a new parking garage and signage will let motorists know about train departures and parking and septa is adding more trains. >> this equipment will arrive over the next few years. >> new bicycle storage facilities will be added along with improvements to the schuylkill river trail. annest that most motorists that use this can appreciate. >> absolutely if it helps, but it's so busy i wonder how much it will really help. >> we'll see. penndot wants to take over and

we are learning new details about the shooting at a strip mall in houston, texas. he identified the gunman at nathan desai. according to the police the gunman had more than 2500 rounds of live ammunition and was shooting people at random. police say he was a disgruntled lawyer. two victims are still in the hospital and seven others are recovering at home. >> there seems to be no rhyme or reason -- that is the scariest part. police were able to shoot and kill the suspect. >> a man who said he survived a

boating accidents and a week at sea is being questioned at a survivors debriefing by the coast guard. 22-year-old nathan carmen returned to boston after a cargo strip found him drifting on an inflatable life raft and that his boat sank on a boating trip with his mother linda. he wants to be present while his client is interviewed. we start in charlotte, north carolina, where out of a tense, city council meeting came tender wise words from a young girl. more than 50 people of all ages came to sound off against the police killing of keith scott and demand change in that city. that included deanna there, she says she is afraid to step out of her home for the first time in her young life. >> our fathers and mothers are killed and we can't see them
