delaware coast. david murphy has the latest. >> reporter: you saw the pictures and hearded sound of the roaring wind and now the satellite picture shows the eye a little while ago going over the western portion of this peninsula in haiti. and that means haiti itself was suggested especially over on the east side with 145 miles per hour category four hurricane winds. people are still in tents there still recovering from the earthquake. this has a track for western cuba, and it looks to be there later today and tonight and up into the bahamas after that. jamaica dodged a bullet here. they got rain and only tropical storm force winds there. as we continue with the updated look at warnings, the warnings
12:03 pm
were up through the bahamas and only watches. we have seen that extended. this is an entire hurricane warning zone and even the east coast of florida, from miami to up to a latitude to orlando, a hurricane watch and tropical storm watch. the concern is for this entire area of land from eastern cuba on into the eastern florida coast. it's a category 4 hurricane with 145 miles per hour winds. as the storm continues to push north from now until wednesday night, it looks like it does have a chance to maintain something close to a category 4 strength and temporarily weakens a bit as it comes over the land but strengthens up through the bahamas. now the track makes this a category 3 fairly close to the coast in florida by early friday morning and the movement is pushing farther to the west by an area of high pressure over the atlantic, kind of forcing
12:04 pm
this thing to the west. now as we look at landfall, it probably come as shore somewhere in carolina. a little to the south of the north carolina border, as a category 3 and then drops to category 2. it's moving north quickly. here is the payoff. this is where it may get when it gets to our latitude. it looks saturday night in the how many of the chesapeake bay at a category 2, and then a 1, if this work out heavy rain in our region especially new jerseyth delaware and strong tropical storm force winds especially at the ocean front and the track could go as far west as williamsport or out to sea. but that is the way it is looking right now. when we come back we'll look at the spaghetti tracks.

you can try anything you want to try buddy. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows us there is no hurricane in town now but a lack of current rain. but there are a lot of clouds over the ocean and over cape may, new jersey, and elsewhere across new jersey. as you glance over the water you can see a glimpse of the sun farther from the beach. that is the way it develops, we go from total clouds to a mix of sun and clouds. 66 degrees currently in
12:25 pm
philadelphia. still kind of cool as the cloud cover in philadelphia is rather thick and socking us in. not all that breezy and breezy at times. 66 in reading and 67 in wilmington and 65 in trenton as you head out the door in millville. 68 degrees and 69 in cape may. future tracker 6 showing you the clouds over the next several hours will probably break up a bit and return some sunshine to most of the area by 4:00, 5:00 and 6:00 maybe even before then. if we get enough in it may bounce our numbers a bit. low 70s at the least, and 10:30 a sprinkle or shower here or there particularly down at the coast. real light stuff though and clouds getting thicker. up in the lehigh valley, and sunny breaks are possible as we go later into the afternoon. down the shore stuck in the 60s, 66 in a.c. and some occasional
12:26 pm
drizzle is possible and at the same time later in the afternoon maybe a little sun returns. in philadelphia mostly cloudy with sun peeking his way out later in the day. can't rule out drizzle but frankly it's dry out there and probably will be away from the shore. 71 is your high in philadelphia. if we manage to breakout sunshine maybe 72, 73, and mostly cloudy and fog where we have the threat of fog around. and 55 is the overnight low. hurricane matthew say major category 4 hurricane and the eye has crossed haiti and taking aim at cuba, that would be a direct hit late after this afternoon or tonight. and it may fluctuate in strength a bit it's a category 4 hurricane, and the central bahamas by evening. the new model run suggests it's
12:27 pm
a category 4 off the coast of florida as we get up to the florida coast and georgia. this could go anywhere in the wide range, again that is friday morning off the coast of southern georgia. it now looks like it makes landfall on saturday morning as a category 3 and degenerating to a 2. probably not too far from the border, a little landfall furnish south of the u.s., that helps us in one way and the longer it stays over land, when it reemerges around the chesapeake bay on saturday night, by early sunday morning. it's probably down to a category 1, here is the big change in the track, the most likely scenario to us is near rehoboth beach, delaware and then 50 to 60 miles off the coast that would be 90
12:28 pm
miles per hour around the center of the storm. inland or along the coast we would get tropical storm force winds somewhere in the 30s with higher gusts and this would produce a lot of rain for us especially in new jersey and delaware and southeastern pennsylvania. i would point out to you has one track in williamsport and one off the coast that it would not be and issue for us. but generally they are closer to the coast than yesterday and it's a good idea to keep your eyes on the forecast into the weekend as saturday afternoon and saturday night and sunday morning could be wet and windy around here. 71 and mostly cloudy and a couple of sprinkles possible and a few peeks of sunshine later in the day and 71 on wednesday and thursday and friday, mid-70s and looking nice. sun to clouds on saturday and we could be looking at rain if matthew comes closer to the coast, wind as well. and the best chance of the start time is late afternoon and
12:29 pm
evening and overnight into sun morning we are watching heavy rain. and there is an indication on some models this plays out and it's out of here. and we'll have a quick recovery sunday and monday. >> thank you david. more news coming up in our next half hour at 1:30. katie v/o: she works hard. she stays late. but she gets paid 21% less than her male coworkers. pat toomey has voted time after time against equal pay for women, against pay that helps hard working families get ahead.
