bandits where local students live and robbed them. we have information on a tractor trailer accident that left part of the pa turnpike closed all morning long. and the word of an arrest on a threatening clown social media post in buck county. a local college student came face-to-face with armed bandits while they were robbing her apartment. gray hall is following the investigation on the 5600 block of woodbine avenue. >> reporter: this was a scary situation for the individual. they were armed and dangerous and dressed in all black. one had on a black mask and black hood. they got away with some of the victim's items thankfully she was not hurt. it was a frightening ordeal for st. joe's students living in this apartment a few blocks from
campus. men broke in and one armed with a knife and the other had a gun. one student heard the commotion and saw the criminals in action. the crooks duct taped her mouth and ties her hands and put her in the closet. students are now on high alert. >> i thought we were safe enough. our neighbors are students, but i didn't think it would happen. >> six female students including the victim lived in this apartment. they stole an ipad, i'm phone and wallet and took the victim outside while she was tied up and popped her car truck. when they were busy the victim escaped and made her way back into the apartment who woke up her roommate and called police. >> one of my friends is on 54th street and she had two break-ins at her house too security needs
to be higher. >> i don't know what will happen. we have a security system and we leave it on all the time. but it's really terrifying. >> reporter: terrifying indeed. a frightening situation for the victim. police recovered the stolen vehicle, the criminals actually switched out the tags and officers are reviewing surveillance video from the area here and st. joseph's university released a statement that all faculty and students were notified and security will be increased in this area. and the search continues for the two men responsible. gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> gray, thank you. developing news now. a nasty crash is causing a big traffic mess at this hour in glen mills delaware county. we mentioned this is our last half hour. chopper 6 hd was over the accident of the car carrier, it happened at route 202 at applied card way. right now traffic is shut down in this area.
we'll keep you posted. more developing news here, the pennsylvania turnpike remains closed due to an overturned tractor trailer accident. closed between the quakertown and landsdowne exit. the truck lost its load of roofing material at 9:00 this morning. it blocked the entire southbound lanes of the turnpike and caused a huge backup. the officials hope to have the highway reopened by 2:00 this afternoon. about an hour and a half. a raging fire claimed the lives of two people in the bustleton section of philadelphia. the flames broke out on the 9800 block of bridal road. neighbors were shocked by the inferno. >> i saw the flames higher than the house. and i ran up to the door and banged on the door and she said the front of the door was hot. >> firefighter as rived to find heavy flames and smoke on the first and second floors.
they found the man and woman on the second floor in separate locations and they did not survive. the couple returned home yesterday after dropping their daughter off at college. a teenager was killed in a double shooting in allentown. witnesses tell police that the gun fire broke out as 17-year-old johnny lopez and a woman were hitting in the car at 9th and liberty streets last night. both were shot and lopez was pronounced dead on the scene and the female was rushed to the hospital and her condition is not known. police have no mote he or suspects in this shooting. and right now florida, georgia and the carolinas are under a state of emergency as hurricane matthew continues to churn towards the u.s. the storm has already ripped through haiti and cuba killing at least 11 people and it's now pounding the bahamas and forecasters warn that the
florida coast is on the panel. they are warning pep to evacuate now before it's too late. here is what hurricane matthew looks like from space. it's blamed for killing two people in haiti and four others in the neighboring dominican republicanic. the question here is will it have an impact on our region. david murphy is here with the models. >> reporter: things changed last night and today. and angled in a direction favorable for our weekend forecast. hurricane matthew is still a category 3 storm and it weakened a bit as it crossed the high mountainous land and beginning to strengthen over open water and expecting this to grow to a category 4 hurricane. now one slight change in the
track is to bring the most likely track, the high, thin line going through where you see the numbers and the rotating hurricane icon closer to florida. as i advance this it looks close to the coast as a category 4, within the wide cone you see it could actually shift, landfall along the eastern florida coast is not out of the question and if that were to happen it would be a major hurricane. if it stays off the coast you are looking at similar impacts and wind damage and high storm surge and flooding in florida. especially the eastern half of state. it gets down to a category 2 near south carolina, here is the big change this morning, both at 5:00 a.m. and now with the most recent track that came out in the last hour and a half. the projected track this have storm is so far to the south we are not even in the cone of influence, we are not looking at anything close to a hit around here. the weekend is not influenced except for the exception of a

inside of the building, there are no injuries reported and no word on what may have caused the fire. a truck carrying a load of sweet treats in indianapolis. it turned over and burst into flames. it was carrying 9,000 pounds of cookie dough it burnt to a crisp. some left slick residue along the highway. police in indianapolis say that a shooting that targeted a police station overnight may have been a response to a crack down on drugs. a few dozen shots were fired at a district headquarters building and at least a dozen bullets hit the outside of the building and nobody was hurt. they pulled $3 million worth of narcotics off the streets in the last months. french police are looking for five them that are suspected

hurricane matthew and its path and how it means good news for us. >> the latest path and it could start last night or today and improve this morning is taking the storm so far to the south we are expecting no impact from it all. stormtracker 6 live double scan shows no impact from precipitation we are dry. looking outside a lot of sunshine across the region, most of the region any way through the morning hours, at the shore we see an increase in cloud cover over the last several hours. but most of us wind up mostly sunny. winds are light at 8 miles per hour. here is the cloud cover on sky 6 but you get away from the coast most of us are looking good. high temperatures this aftern n afternoon, looks like low 70s from philadelphia, trenton and lehigh valley and berks county. 69 degrees close to that number in millville and mid-60s down at
the shore. 70 by 2:00 in philadelphia. 71 by 5:00, and 70 by 6:00. and then down all the way to 60 by 10:00 tonight and 60s for the low tonight. hurricane matthew is a category 3 continuing that charge up through the bahamas over the next couple of days and eventually returning to form with the category 4 status, the latest track, the most likely one the red line in this possible cone of tracks closer to florida at this hour than it was 24 hours ago and even 12 hours ago. it may or may not make landfall but either way big problem as long it's coastline of florida, be south carolina as well. it's a category 2 right now and the last couple of runs from the national hurricane center progression has this model center far south of us and even takes this cone of possible
tracks out of our area by a couple of hundred miles in some cas cases. what happens next is a question. it could meander and head back to florida or a northerly direction but that will not be until next week. most of these models have it well to the south and the ones closer are too far away to have a major impact here. tropical storm nicole is a tropical storm getting sheered by upper level winds and this looks to meander south of bermuda. tomorrow sunny and 75 and partly sunny and 73 on friday. three great days around here. sunday we get the front, not related to the hurricane but it will kick up clouds and a breeze and high of 70 on saturday and a period of the day that is damp
