good afternoon in the news this noon, two men rob a local pizza store at gun pointn't a customer was also robbed in front of her young children. >> and a crash shuts down a highway for hours while police clean up the mess. and a local husband and wife are robbed at gun point inside of their home. police are searching for two men in the lawn crest section of philadelphia. katherine scott is talking to the victims and joins us with brand new surveillance video from northeast detectives. >> reporter: sara, detectives here continue to investigate and so far there are no arrests in this case. we spoke with the victims this morning and they are very shaken up and in the video are you about to see you'll understand why. >> it was over in 40 seconds. >> it was quick and sudden, surveillance video shows them

sitting on the couch and men burst through the door of her home. >> he told me to be quiet and he pulled the gun out and i started to scream and yell for my husband. >> her husband who is legally blind was in the kitchen of home. and she said they purchased a handgun after hearing about so many home invasions. >> he went to reach for our gun, and the guy had a gun up to his neck and telling us if we don't shut up and be quiet he would shoot both of us. she described how they took the gun and went through her husband's pockets looking for money. they were terrified. >> i was saying to myself. oh my god i hope he doesn't shoot my husband or me. i told my husband don't shoot. because my husband was getting

ready to shoot him. i was like no no no. >> the suspects fled with a gun and $275 cash. >> i hope they catch them because it's like you preyed on a man who condefend his family. >> they fleed in a black jeep. we are live from northeast detectives, katherine scott, channel 6 "action news." >> thank you. a prestigious private school on the main line is addressing concerns of a recent arrest of its head master. the haverford school has placed john nagel on administrative leave pending the outcome of an investigation. the school is calling this a deeply personal family matter and has not revealed the exact reason for his arrest. dozens of residents in chestnut hill are dealing with a

water main break that happened after 1:30 this morning. officials say everyone on the block, about 50 people remain without water service until they can repair the break. turning to accuweather, we had a cool start to wednesday but it's turning nice out there. sun and temperatures are comfortable as we look live at sky 6 hd at the center city skyline. karen rogers is in for david murphy outside with a first check of the accuweather forecast. >> reporter: hi, i shed by jacket from the morning after the cool start. a seasonable day, temperatures around average and we are stuck under the clouds in philadelphia. but i want to show you this image of satellite 6 along with action radar as you look at this wide image it's just the i-95 corridor in the immediate area that is stuck under the cloud cover. we have bright sunny skies in south jersey and we'll be in and out of the clouds through the day. 58 in quakertown and you woke up

in spots in the upper 30s here in the northwest and now 58 in pottstown and 60 in saint david. pretty mild in chester, 63 and 64 in center city. and 62 in levittown, and new jersey 61 in browns mills and 65 in hammonton and 62 in glassboro. it's average high is 68 and we'll hit that today. it feels like a fall day even with the handful of clouds. the record is 88 not touching that, we have until 6:25 until the sunsets to see the sunshine. for your evening commute you won't get a lot of sun glare and 56 degrees and by 5:00, 67 and by 7:00 p.m., it's 62 degrees. we'll warm things up for tomorrow and give us just the chance for a shower. i'll have that coming up in the

accuweather forecast. >> thank you. a controversial proposal to build a condo tower on philadelphia's historic jeweler's row. toll brothers wants to demolish several properties to make way for a residential building. but several people have sign aid petition against the project and calling on city leaders to protect the hist or yoric area. and the mayor asks the toll brothers to preserve the facade. moving forward city council is working on legislation to protect the city's other historical buildings. from our delaware newsroom. traffic is finally moving on route 1 after a crash that dumped a truck load of chickens across the highway. two tractor trailers collided

and dozens of the birds were killed. no one else was hurt. the southbound lanes were blocked for about six hours. investigators say a woman parked outside a west philadelphia pizza shop by her two children were robbed by a man while his friends were inside holding up the store. it happened at the little caesars on lancaster avenue on the 4th. two armed men walked in with guns drawn and waited for the cashier to come to the front and then they walked out. the third man acting as a lookout apparently walked to the woman in the car and pointed a gun at her and took her cell phone. the woman was not hurt. the fbi is on the scene of a deadly plane crash to find out if the crash was intentional. one person died in east hartford, connecticut yesterday. but the pilot survived and is talking to authorities. elizabeth herr is following this

investigation from new york. >> reporter: just within the hour here police told reporters that because it is too early they cannot release too much information. but can confirm that the lone survivor, the pilot is being treated for burns and talking to investigators. investigators gathering evidence and taking pictures where the pilot surviving this fiery plane crash, telling authorities this was no accident. >> we have a fully involved aircraft on fire on main street. >> the plane took off from an airport in hartford, connecticut, and just before 2:00 eyewitnesss saw the plane plunging into a busy street and taking down power poles and utility lines. >> the power went out at work and everyone ran outside. on the plane a student pilot and an instructor, on the ground the plane nearly missing a van carrying a mother and her

children and this man's car. >> he hit a pole just behind me. and then came in and landed and i thought it was part of the plane falling off. >> an active area, sidewalks for full and businesses were fall and heavy amount of traffic, the fact there were not more casualties is pretty amazing. police saying they asked the fbi to investigate because the plane went down near a pratt and whitney factory. where jet engines for commercial military and general aviation are manufactured. >> we learned that the plane had two control panels and police have yet to determine who was actually flying the plane at the time of the crash. and asked if it was investigated as terrorism, police say they are not ruling anything out. channel 6 "action news." all right talking politics now, election day just 27 days away.

republican presidential nominee, donald trump, is vowing to win the oval office without his party's help. trump ramped up his attacks on gop leaders that openly denounced his bid for the presidency and saying it's open season on any critic regardless of their party affiliation. meanwhile nominee, hillary clinton, is expected to challenge republicans over their support for donald trump. she will campaign in colorado and nevada this evening. the latest poll numbers show clinton leading trump by several points nationwide. the deadline for voter registration in pennsylvania has passed but in delaware, the deadline is this saturday october 15th and voters in the garden state have until next tuesday october 18th to reg ser to vote. still to come on "action news" at noon, authorities are following new leads for the men that robbed kim kardashian west.

in north carolina dozens of people are rescued from flooding as the waters continue to rise. the tar river in greenville is expected to crest today and 9,000 people are kept away from their homes. the storm has claimed 30 lives in the u.s. and half of those in north carolina. they are heeding people to listen to warnings. >> stay away from the water whether you are walking or riding in a car do not get near the water it will kill you. >> more than 4,000 are living in shelters and hundreds of thousands remain without power. meanwhile a new report that hurricane matthew caused $10 million worth of damage across

the u.s. and damaged or destroyed more than a million structures and leaving thousands of people out of work for days. experts believe that insurance company would be liable for only half the damage. it's a year since the paris attacks, and the only remaining suspect has lost his attorneys. if he won't talk they can't defend him. he remained in solitary confinement near paris and was involved in the attacks that killed 130 people last november. and more in the robbery of kim kardashian west. someone found a diamond cross pendant on the street near the residence where the reality start was robbed. and kardashian file aid lawsuit and sued the website that says

samsung is now offering prepaid fire resistant shipping boxes for cover mers that need to return their galaxy note 7. it's required for shipping ion lithium batteries, the company wants to reduce risk of fires or explosions for people sending their phones back to the retailer. toyota is recalling some prius hybrid vehicles for a defect in the parking brakes, the recall recalls 94,000 gas and electric cars in america. the cars were manufactured from august 2015 to october of 2016. toyota is informed of crashes and injuries and even deaths

or the new year. karen rogers is here with a check of the accuweather forecast. >> not a bad day today right? temperatures right about right. lets look right now at stormtracker 6 live double scan we are dry through the area and no threat of rain today. lets go outside and see what it looks like, sky 6 hd looking live over the commodore barry bridge a fair amount of clouds and sunshine and blue skies, trying to poke through, and it certainly was a cool start to the day once again today. no frost today like yesterday morning. we dipped to 38 in allentown and barely made it out of the 30s in reading and 48 was the morning low in philadelphia and 37 in lakehurst and 43 at atlantic city airport and 41 in millville. and we have rebounded nicely from that, we are up to 64 degrees and feeling pretty good out there. the dew point 49 and more moisture in the atmosphere.

the temperature up more, 72 degrees for your high temperature. that is with this frontal boundary that approaches and ahead of that you get in the south-southwest flow and allows that to be milder. it mostly comes through dry and it's a moisture starved front, but i want to show you future tracker 6 we'll advance this to tomorrow afternoon. thursday 2:30 in the afternoon, this model tries to place showers in the lehigh valley. and we watch is the showers try to come through the i-95 corridor and mostly fall apart at 4:00 and not much happening at 6:30, tomorrow a mild day with a chance for a shower late in the day. hurricane nicole. category 2 hurricane, that eye was clear for a while there, it's becoming more compact and started the northward movement and is projected to still hit bermuda as a category 2 hurricane tomorrow and move out to sea. but watching hurricane nicole and watch that continue to develop. lets look at your exclusive

already cast their ballots and thousands of iraqi soldiers and advisers are moving into battle against isis. >> the water main break on temple university campus is affecting hundreds of students in several dormitory. walter perez is live with the details. >> reporter: hi sara we'll give you a live look at the scene things have dried out but the work is just beginning, water officials received a call to hours ago, we are told that a 12 inch main ruptured and they have shut down water service to the area, the area around norris at 13th and broad and that affects homes and buildings and at least two temple university dorms currently without water service. they are trying to figure out the exact location of the rupture. as you can see it's safe to say if it's not here at the intersection of
