"action news" at 12:30 continues. with rick willms, sara bloomquist, and meteorologist, david murphy. hello again sara has the day off. and here are the stories we are following for you. a burglar broke into one of the oldest candy shops in old city. and also new measures are go into place to keep your security safe online. and we'll tell you where local police are beefing up local dui now, the details a teenager was able to escape and one who help after two masked men barged into his south philadelphia home. hall, spoke to the store clerk that helped the teenager. >> it was a terrifying situation for this family in south philadelphia. when crooks targeted their home and despite this frightening situation there were no serious injuri injuries. >> it was a living nightmare. police say that arms men one armed with a gun barged in at 1:00 a.m. and a 13-year-old sleeping downstairs came face-to-face and they zip tied him and ran to the basement. he ran down the street with no shoes and ran into the 7-eleven and asked the clerk to call police. >> he was shaken up and bleeding and ran two blocks barefooted and needed help, there were people tied up at his house and was chained to a pipe in the basement. >> the teen was not seriously

injured but cut his feet when he escaped. the store clerk was the safety of the teenager. >> wanted to make sure nobody followed him to the store and was still in danger and then i did what i had to do to help him out. >> neighbors are shaken and they say they plan to increase security. >> i do sleep with an ice axe by my bed. >> there is no good description of those suspects, the criminals did not get away with anything. the family declined to talk on family but grateful the 15-year-old will be okay. >> he had dirt all over him and cuts on his feet. and had a band on his arm, that police use to lock people up when they run out of handcuffs. >> we can tell that you police are reviewing surveillance video and we know that at least one neighbor living nearby had a surveillance system it's not

clear what that captured. gray hall, channel 6 "action news." >> downed miles per hour lines are creating a driving nightmare for people on the pennsylvania turnpike. lanes are shut town at bensalem and bristol township. video shows the dump truck with the bed raised underneath the wires, no word when the lanes will be reopen today. delaware county officials are investigating the crashing of two freight trains, on curlin street and concourse road in chester. two employees were transported to the hospital for medical attention. csx authorities are assessing the damage to the trains and say there was no hazardous materials involved in the crash and no immediate word why the trains were on the same track in the first place. >> now, turning to weather,

another seasonably cool day to end your work week. we look live at sky 6 hd and the ben franklin bridge blue skies and cloud cover and the sun is shining though and the wind is whipping around as well. what will it do for this weekend. it could be a nice one to be outside. melissa magee is outside on the terrace with the accuweather forecast. >> hi there rick, the sun is deceiving on this friday because we have the blustery wind out of the northwest. in the city just 52, and 48 in allentown and 49 for reading and lancaster. beach haven 54. and we have the area of low pressure over northern sections of new england heading into maine and canada and that was responsible for the wet weather we had in our region yesterday but the winds on the backside, coming in from the northwest. the current gusts across the region we are gusting as high as

30 miles per hour for both philadelphia and millville. a gust of 32 miles per hour in wilmington as high as 29 miles per hour in the poconos and this will continue as we go throughout the rest of the day. future tracker 6 showing you 3:30 later on temperatures max out in the middle to upper 50s along the delaware and lehigh valleys. and tomorrow morning a chilly start with numbers in the 30s and 40s, but we have a rebound in our temperatures saturday afternoon. the wind shifts and turns more southwesterly tomorrow and we'll max out in the upper 60s and lower 70s across a good portion of our viewing area. here is the call from accuweather over the weekend, sunshine and clouds and we have the mild southwest wind flow and a high temperature coming in in the lower 70s and sunday warm and a couple of afternoon showers to track and otherwise temperatures will be in the middle and upper 70s. coming up we take a closer look at the forecast a nice warming trend. and a preview of what to expect

should have been welcomed to sing. we apologize to her and we reached out to offer her an opportunity to return and perform at another game of her choice. >> in other news investigators are looking for the thief that broke into one of the country's oldest candy stores it show the man walking around shane in old city. the suspect was able to get away with laptops and money and one of the store's security systems. the crime happened in september. the search continues for the people wanted for two smash and grabs this week in philadelphia and police believe the crimes were committed by the same people. three people wearing masks and hoodies, used a hammer to smash a display case until macy's. they stole watches, they had a

stormtracker 6 live double scan radar you see it's dry and no major issues with precipitation and we got rid of the wet weather yesterday and last night and now it's chilly on our friday, we'll show you the picture outside. sky 6 hd looking at a shot of the the center city skyline and sunshine and bright blue sky with a couple of clouds around and it's partly cloudy through the rest of the afternoon. chilly only 52 in philadelphia and the dew point at 32 and pressure 30.20 on the rise, and winds from the west northwest today. this is key at 0 miles per hour. and we are also finding higher gusts across the region. north and west of town only in the 40s, 49 for slatington and fleet wood 40 and 49 in warrington and center city lower 50s and 53 in chester. new jersey, 54 in vineland, 54 for cinnaminson and lower 50s for ewing. here is the issue, the winds are

blustery and we have gusts as high as 30 miles per hour in philadelphia and sustained wind of 13 miles per hour in the poconos and 20 miles per hour for both wilmington and dover at this hour. here is satellite 6 along with action radar we have the area of low pressure this is responsible for the wet weather we had across our area yesterday lifting to the north and east and winds on the backside from the northwesterly direction than cools us down quite nicely for the end of the work week. partly sunny and blustery and high temperature close to 57 and winds close to 40 miles per hour. overnight tonight mainly clear and killy, tropping down to 41 degrees in philadelphia and 30s north and west of town. as we head into the weekend it's all about the football as temple will be at home at 3:30 tomorrow afternoon and clouds and sun and breezy and the kickoff temperature is 71 degrees, and the fourth quarter 67.

a nice southerly wind for the weekend. fall foliage we'll check it out across the region. past color in the poconos but peaking right now in philadelphia and areas to the north and west. and we find moderate color now down across south jersey and also into delaware. here is the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast partly sunny and blustery a high temperature of 57, partly sunny and milder on saturday with a high temperature of 72. more clouds around and 75. and the front moves on through that is not bad for the month of october. for halloween, partly sunny and looking dry and high temperature of 60. if you start your trick or treating in the evening, temperatures are only in the 50s by then. tuesday seasonable and nice with a high of 66 and warming up on wednesday with a high of 72 and next thursday, sunny and still nice high temperature of 64. chilly today but nice recovery tomorrow. >> thank you melissa again.
