with matt o'donnell, tamala edwards, karen rogers and meteorologist, david murphy. >> ♪ >> good morning. it's 5 o'clock on this tuesday november 15th and we're following breaking news. >> a woman airlifted to the hospital after being stabbed overnight in south jersey. we'll have a live report from the scene. >> new this morning, crews battle a blaze in a montgomery county school. >> and taking a live look here from sky6 out over center city. it's clear for now but some showers continue this morning making for a wet commute. >> let's get more on that with meteorologist, david murphy and karen rogers. good morning. >> and storm tracker6 live double scan is right on those showers showing you that they are getting closer to philadelphia kind of wrapping in from the coast and it won't be too much longer before the city starts to pick up more than maybe the drizzle drop you're getting right now. there's also some additional showers down to the south that may pop through. not sure how west this is going to push but the city itself looks like it will probably get some of this and every now and then there's a little bit of a steadier cell
highlighted in darker shades of green and yellow popping through wrightstown medford lakes and also kind of pushing in toward the city. so, a little damp this morning. the wide view though shows that you once that rain gets through, we are very likely going to see this rain wrapping up to the north and during the afternoon we might even get some sun back in play. temperatures right now 50 degrees in philadelphia. just 44 in allentown. 42 in reading. 49 degrees in wilmington. 48 in millville and 51 down the pike in cape may. winds aren't coming up from the south anymore. they've turned from the north so we'll probably be a few degrees cooler today but like yesterday the winds aren't all that strong. here's what's going to happen temperature-wise. we start at 47 degrees at 7 o'clock 53 at 10 o'clock and noon 57 but the rain dying down. by 3 o'clock 59 degrees. that's your high. we might get 60 on a couple thermometers this afternoon. some sun coming back and dipping back to 53 by 6 o'clock. a beautiful stretch of weather is arriving really starting later this afternoon but especially kiking in tomorrow. karen rogers i'll have more on
that coming up. >> you showed us on radar how that rain is to the south as we're looking in south jersey and that's what we're seeing in our cameras. this is tuckahoe route 50 at route 49. a quiet scene at this early hour, not seeing any carls out there at the moment but you can see the roads a little bit wet there in south jersey. it's not raining terribly hard but nonetheless they're wet so give yourself a little extra time. we have a water main break in east whiteland township in chester county. route 29 north of route 30 that's lancaster avenue, traffic squeeze buying but the crews are out there so you might want to avoid that and stick to 401 or 252 instead of route 29. let's go outside live in the city and check that construction on the vine and we can see traffic now moving in both directions westbound and eastbound the construction is cleared. all the ramps reopened and the vine is looking pretty good. crews return at 11 o'clock and shut the vine down in both directions. blue route, schuylkill, i-95, speeds mostly in the 50's and we're still dry on i-95 here at cottman, matt. >> thanks karen. breaking this morning a woman is found with a stab
wound to the head in burlington county and is in such bad shape she needed to be airlifted to the hospital. katherine scott is live on the scene in mount holly with more. katherine. >> reporter: matt, police have been on the scene throughout the night after this woman was assaulted and stabbed. so far police haven't said what kind of condition she's in and you can see that the road remains closed off here in mount holly for this police session. police say the victim was stabbed. she was bleeding from her head. she was airlifted to helene fuld medical center in trenton. police have not released her condition so far and they have not released her name either. overnight as investigators look for evidence here on the street they seem to be focusing on an suv in the middle of the road. as to what led up to this incident, what the motive was, this all remains under investigation here this morning. so far police haven't said if there were any witnesses. they have not said if there were any suspects. we are live in mount holly,
katherine scott, channel6 "action news". >> and new this morning -- thank you katherine. new this morning heavy fire damaged a montgomery county school overnight. the action cam was at the lakehurst school on chestnut lane in horsham township. flames broke out around 2:30 this morning. it took crews about half an hour to get it under control. there are no reports of injuries. officials say the fire was contained to one classroom. they say the blaze appears to be mechanical. >> new on "action news" a berks county business owner hopes pictures from his new surveillance system will help police catch a thief. the the cameras caught a burglar walking around the business. police say he was on the property for almost a half hour and loaded up an suv with hundreds of dollars worth of batteries and scrap metal. the burglar also caused thousands of dollars worth of damage. a car hit a female pedestrian in talleyville delaware. the woman is fighting for her life now. it happened on the concorde pike near the concorde mall at 8:20 last night. the the driver remained at the
scene. the woman was taken to christiana hospital for serious injuries. >> it is 5:04 and a desales university students is under arrest accused of trying to kill two of his roommates. according to court documents 19-year-old brendan mcmichael of philadelphia attacked his roommates over the weekend inside welsh haul. police got a call around 1:00 on sunday morning from one of the victims claiming that mcmichael had attacked him and another roommate with a nye. mcmichael has been charged with attempted homicide. police trying to figure out who killed a 28-year-old man in north philadelphia. the victim was shot along the 2500 block of west burke street just after 4:00 yesterday afternoon. the gunman ran away. officers rushed the man to temple university hospital but he did not survive. >> a bucks county school district is trying to ease concerns from parents and students over recent acts of vandalism and harassment. council rock school has held a community meeting in newtown last night. it comes amid a series of incidents at council rock north high school before black
latino and gay students have been reported to be targets of hate speech. some parents say the threats predate election day. >> it's not just because someone got elected as president that this is happening. apparently this has been happening before. >> very saddened certainly and i think we're all very invested making certain we address it tackle it. >> council rock plans to monitor hallways bathrooms and cafeterias very closely and will hold another students assembly today. >> jewish and muslim communities members in south jersey gather to discuss faith. they met last night at adath manuel in haunt laurel for a round table discussion. the group focused on the similarities and differences in their faith. new on "action news" crews are working to put together reading's new artificial christmas tree. officials opted to go with a 30-foot tall fake fir. the decision comes two years after reddings choice of a scrawny charlie brown tree drew criticism from around the world. a tree lighting ceremony takes
place friday evening and i liked the charlie brown tree. >> it's about character sometimes and i don't know if an artificial tree, no offense, has as much character as the scrawny tree. >> we went artificial in the house about 10 years ago and it saves some money but it was because my wife has allergies and she was sneezing all the time. >> she's allergic to ever greens. >> she's allergic to like everything. storm tracker6 live double scan right now and we have some showers out there and most of these in south jersey but they are kind of pushing closer to philadelphia. looks like cape may is drying out and southern delaware with a little bit. i'll take a closer look at all this in a second. let's get you outside. we got sky6 showing you cloudy skies over penn's landing and the delaware river and the battleship new jersey as we are starting out gray and in some cases damp and in fact this scene right here might become a little damp flesh second. let's go ahead and take a look. you see the movement of this rain. it is pushing in from the ocean and it does look like philadelphia my catch some of this, certainly northeast philadelphia and lower
montgomery and bucks county. in wrightstown and up and down the 295 and new jersey turnpike corridor in burlington county and down into parts of camden county, the rain coming in and every now and then it's a little steadier with there yellow and dark shades of green. pretty much just light stuff down through millville and this here down to the northeast of dover might also pin wheel and start to come up toward wilmington. don't know how far west this is going to make it but it looks like from about here to the east we will be seeing at least some rain during the morning hours. 44 degrees right now in allentown. 42 in reading. 50 degrees in philadelphia. 49 in wilmington. 50 in trenton. 48 in millville so a little cool as you step outside but not as cold as it was yesterday. future tracker six showing you that rain off and on light showers for the most part, maybe a little steadier shower every now and then continuing up through about 9 o'clock and then it does look like this pulls away by the time we get up to noon. it might still be bother something folks in bucks and mercer county. the rest of the day we actually not only see the rain disappear but the clouds may break up a little bit later
this afternoon and we could see the return of some sunshine. up in the lehigh valley mostly cloudy with afternoon drying, a high of 58. fairly mild later on. down the shore afternoon drying, mostly cloudy skies, and a high of just 54 down by the ocean. and in philadelphia we'll call it 59 today. couple of you might actually get 60 or so. mostly cloudy skies with some afternoon drying and that sun returning later in the day. a little bit on the breezy side later on. clear skies and chilly overnight tonight. winds die down, 41 is the low in philadelphia and some outlying suburbs could get down into the 30's so tomorrow morning we will start out cooler. but in the afternoon things really look good. we wind up with sunshine reemerging a high of 62 degrees and even though there's another little frontal boundary coming through we're going stay fairly mild for the rest of the work week and into the first half of the weekend. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, we're going for a high today of 59 degrees. clouds and some rain around in the morning but then some sun reemerging later on. mostly cloudy skies but getting better later. tomorrow partly to mostly sunny, mild, 62. and then still very nice on
thursday with a high of 62. and 66 on friday. what about the coming weekends? well, the philadelphia half marathon is on saturday aren't it looks like a great day. partly sunny, 66 degrees. the full marathon on sunday might have a little trouble. it's going to be cooler and cloudy and windy, 49 degrees the high and we can't rule out some showers. notice how monday is dry but we still stay rather chilly. of course next thursday is thanksgiving and this could change but the long range forecasts suggests we get a little milder by thanksgiving. that's good. 5:10 now. a former lawyer who was convicted of hypnotizing female clients for his sexual gratification learns his fate. >> college basketball players show up at the airport for a flight only to find out that they'll be traveling like a presidential candidate. karen. >> the ramp from the schuylkill westbound to the vine eastbound has reopened now that the construction is cleared. traffic is moving okay here. we'll take you live to fort washington when "action news" comes right back. >> ♪
>> ♪ >> welcome back. taking a live look here, the commodore barry. it is -- we've had a rainy start to the morning but it's starting to clear out. >> ship going pretty slow. >> it can take its time this time of the morning. it is 5:13 and 50 degrees out there. >> ship has the whole river to itself sewn do a lot of drivers out there, right. >> ships passing in the night now and a couple cars out there as well. as we look live in fort washington this is 309 at the pennsylvania turnpike. we're hearing about a disabled vehicle southbound on 309 from this vantage and points we can see traffic is moving fine. we've got really light volume out there. dry on 309 but not everywhere so in new jersey you want to watch for those
showers that will be pushing into the city shortly is. we have this water main break in chester county route 29 just north of lancaster avenue and traffic's kind of squeezing by in that area. just watch for that to be a problem today and also as we look around the area lehigh and bucks county, northeast extension between lehigh valley and quakertown the overnight construction clear there. all lanes opened and things are looking good. we're looking at allentown quakertown, no reports of problems right there so you're headed out and you're looking all right. i want to show you these temperatures. it's currently 50 degrees in philadelphia. 48 degrees in millville. 42 degrees right now in reading and those numbers are really important right now because the problem is we've got rain in the area. if we had temperatures like we had yesterday below freezing we would be in trouble and right now storm tracker6 live double scan showing us that the rain is in new jersey but it's actually pushing in at this point towards the west so we're going to see some of those showers move through philadelphia. it's pretty light but your roads are wet in new jersey and they'll get wet elsewhere
through the morning matt. >> thanks karen. new here on "action news" an ohio judge has sentenced a former attorney to 12 years in prison for hypnotizing female clients for his sexual gratification. michael fine of the cleveland area was arrested after one of his clients contacted police with her suspicions. court documents say she agreed to wear a body camera to prove the claims. fine's arrest prompted other accusers to come forward. the 59-year-old pleaded guilty to six counts of kidnapping and one count of attempted kidnapping. he will have to register as a tier two sex offender. >> new on "action news" a former campaign plane for hillary clinton is being put to some good use. the university of dayton's men's basketball team boarded clinton's plane dayton yesterday. the university said it had no idea the team would be using it until they got to the airport. it's the first time the team has flown on a plane branded by a political campaign though the squad has used the of pro sports teams before. dayton plays the university of alabama later today.

avenue. overnight construction has cleared traffic moving nicely. in an area where we have some rain we have an accident. now this is franklin township, main road 555 at dutch mill road watch for this accident coming in in franklin township. that's new. mass transit no delays just yet. new jersey transit ac rail line special schedule today 7:30 to 3:30 because of crossing rehab project in hammonton today, dave. >> karen roads are wet this morning in much of south jersey and this is starting to push closer and closer to pennsylvania. the southern tip of bucks county now getting a little bit wet and at times you might even see a little dose of steady rain. again, this is pushing toward the west. don't know if it's going to make the way all the way out through western chester county but it is damp on the east half of the region this morning. as we take a look at temperatures today, it is going to be damp in spots through 8 o'clock and 10 o'clock climbing up to the low 50's by 10 o'clock. by noon most of the rain pushing off to the north and east of the area, 57 degrees. and by 3 o'clock we get a high of 59 degrees and it actually looks like we could see some sunshine returning as we get later into the afternoon. by 6 o'clock 53 degrees.
also want to check out conditions at the airport. hoping for all green aircraft nonmajor delays. that's often the case this early hour and that's what we've got today. however, up the coast at j.f.k. another area that's seeing some rain this morning. tam. >> okay, thank you david. in health check now, high protein diets have become a bit of a fad but a new study might make older women think twice about taking part in them. a high protein diet may be linked to heart failure in post menopausal women. the risk was high if a lot of protein comes from meat rather than vegetable protein like len tills and beans. researchers suggest more studies are needed before anyone changes how they eat and they continues to stress the benefits of a balanced diet. if you can't sleep in past 9:00 in the morning or can't get yourself to bed before 11:00 at night we have news for you. this might not be your fault. it may be genetics. according to research your dna determines whether you're a night owl or early bird. analysis found there are 15 genes associated with the

every now and then there's a heavier cell highlighted in yellow and this banding in from the ocean and beginning to come into northeast philadelphia, southern bucks county and montgomery county may also be picking up some of this before too much longer. it's not necessarily going to push all the way over toward reading and all the way through chester county but it probably does come into philadelphia for awhile. then there are some additional sprinkles and showers down south that could also wrap in a little bit more well out to the west it looks like it might be pushing into chester county from the other direction. wide view on satellite though shows you that once all this is over with we are going to see a drying pattern this afternoon. we just have to get kind of on the other side of this rain right here. and there might even be a return of some sunshine later. temperatures this morning are a bit cool but not as bad as yesterday when we were in the 30's in a lot of spots. 51 degrees in philadelphia, 48 millville 49 wilmington. winds not all that strong. they are coming down from the north though so we'll probably be a few degrees cooler than we were yesterday. and here's how the numbers are going. 47 degrees by 7 o'clock. 53 by 10 o'cloc
