39. with the strong blustery winds even at 3:00 p.m. it will feel like the upper 20s. how about 7:00 p.m. when you're heading out for dinner and movie. 32 degrees and windy. when i come inside i'll talk about the weekend and talk about wet snow coming. >> reporter: having now done it, would you recommend going outside? i bet the answer is no. i would not recommend a drive on the schuylkill expressway eastbound. the penndot crews cleared out of the way, we have all three lanes back on the eastbound side of the schuylkill expressway by the zoo. 6 miles per hour east of the boulevard, at least for the next ten or 15 minutes, you might want to stick with the river drive, instead. mlk is reopened after overnight construction. the vine overnight construction has cleared, we're done with that for the week, no delays along 676.
word is in of a new crash haddon heights, camden county, northbound side of 295. as we look at the shot i'm seeing this for the first time with you, looks like a major accident. a couple of the left lanes blocked, traffic barely squeezing by on route 30 by the white horse pike. use the new jersey turnpike, or 130 instead of northbound 295. we're watching this major accident haddon heights, camden county. details just coming in. new castle county, getting word of a crash on the ramp 141, one lane blocked on the ramp. >> a driver slammed into a pole in north philadelphia and abandoned the vehicle and took off from the crash scene. no other person was hurt in the one car crash. it happened after 1:00 a.m. at ridge avenue and master street. no word on what sparked the crash. >> a semi clothed man is seen roaming a neighborhood in bucks county.
he flagged down a motorist, that's when police say he admitted to murdering his mother. katherine scott is live at lower makefield police with the rest of this macabre story. katherine? >> reporter: matt, zachary cope was taken in for questioning police say he admitted to attacking and stabbing his mother inside the home. let's go to video you can see cope in custody last night in lower makefield charged with killing his own mother. investigators say the attack happened inside the home on lower hill top road in lower makefield. officers found the body of 52-year-old rebecca cope inside the kitchen around 3:00 p.m. there was sign of blunt-force trauma to her head and cut marks on her body. he flagged a driver down on
taylorsville road and told the driver he killed his mom. >> they located a male wearing shorts an flip flops and approached the male, as soon as they approached the male, he said to police, i killed my mother. >> reporter: and the investigation continues this morning, cope is being held at bucks county prison without bail. we're live in lower makefield township, katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you for that. this is new this morning, one person is on the mend after shots rang out in delaware county. the action cam along the 700 block of comly avenue in yeadon. 7:30 police responded to reports of shots fired. they found a person wounded. no word on their condition. police have not released motive or shooter. we know the details for the funeral arrangements of frankie williams after another drive ran into him head on.

that's with winds in the teens, it will gust in the 30s later and it will stay pretty raw. it will stay bright and we'll see if the clouds have a chance to advance on the region. we'll go sunny in the morning and sunny in the afternoon. if we see clouds pop up it will be later in the day. in the lehigh valley, high of 39 feeling like the 20s even at the best of times. windchills in the teens in the lehigh valley. at the shore, lots of sun, windy and cold, 40 degrees, perhaps afternoon clouds, again, windchills probably down around 29, 30 this afternoon. in philadelphia, mostly sunny, chance of a build up in clouds later in the day, windy and cold, high of 39 degrees today, with the winds gusting into the mid 30s at times, it will feel no better than 28 this afternoon in terms of the windchill. definitely a day for winter coats. if you're heading out tonight, the same story we'll be at the freezing mark at 7:00 p.m. overnight tonight, 28 in

295 northbound you want to avoid at this point. meanwhile, in new castle county the crash i mentioned on the ramp 141 has cleared. the wreck on the schuylkill expressway eastbound by girard has cleared, as well. we're working on recovering 6 minute delay on the eastbound e eastbound travel time. it's better than a little while ago. overnight work on the turnpike in chester county blocking the right lane. they will open the new e-z pass to the southbound side of the northeast extension. last week they opened the off ramp this week the on-ramp from sumneytown pike and 40-foot road. a shameful crime in chicago. a person robbed a 90-year-old woman in her chicago home. she is standing outside her home
waiting for her daughter to pick her up for a doctor's appointment. it got cold and she went back inside. the man followed her into the home and attacked her and grabbed her purse and fled in a stolen suv. >> this is new the death of a berks county man near the famous pagoda is being investigated as a homicide. reading police responded to an assault call early tuesday and found him near a cliff on mountain penn near the pagoda. they are not sure it was the result of an assault or fall down the cliff. a man who had too much to drink ended up in his old house. she a wakened to the man's scream they were coming from her bathroom. police arrested him in nothing but a towel.

he was arraigned charged with the death of his mother. the mother and son lived in the home alone. they were called after he stopped a passing car on taylorsville road and told the driver he killed his mom. officers responded and found the body of 52-year-old rebecca cope inside the kitchen around 3:00 p.m. with obvious injuries. >> it was apparent she suffered blunt trauma to the head and stabbed and cuts wounds to her body. >> i didn't think anything lieltsdz -- like this would happen. he seemed like a nice guy. >> reporter: at this point there's no word on what prompted the attack and the stabbing. at this time cope remains in bucks county prison without bail. live in lower makefield township. katherine scott channel 6 "action news." >> thank you katherine.

>> 6:43 a.m., chopper 6 hd arrived at breaking news, let's turn to matt pellman. >> reporter: the camden county crawl is on because of this crash, matt and tam along 295. these are the northbound lanes in haddon heights by the exit for route 30. you can see traffic squeezing by. multiple vehicles involve i'm counting, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 vehicles involved in the northbound accidents. a lot of emergency crews on the scene. we had a ladder truck here looks like that has left. the shoulder and off ramp squeezing by on northbound 295. that's the view from chopper 6
hd this is a different view, you can see the travel time there, 56 minutes which should be not even close this morning because of the speeds like 3 miles per hour, as you come north of the 42 freeway. so, again, you really want to think alternates to northbound 295. they could include evesham road down here, the new jersey turnpike is a good alternate if you don't mind paying the toll, of course. kings highway the alternate stay on 130, as well. delays are starting to spill back on 42 northbound which is slow from lower landing road to creek road and 295. it's going to be slower than normal because of the major northbound 295 accident. brooklawn, 147 there's a water main break taking out the right lane. we had a broken down vehicle i-95 north of the walt whitman bridge that's gone. speeds 15 miles per hour through the work zone at cottman avenue. a new crash at the wawa joshua
