glimpse as the snow blowers are blowing snow on the slopes. >> some of us will see the white stuff. >> reporter: north of the philadelphia area will see that, here, rain, cold rain at that. looking live outside at the center city skyline, it's quiet, but cold, temperatures are in the mid 20s across the surrounding suburbs and 29 in philadelphia. winter weather advisory goes into effect for all areas shaded in the purplish lavender color. western portions of the lehigh valley and the poconos. we're expecting a period of light snow to develop let's say 2 or 3:00 p.m. this afternoon with a warm front that's right here, the warm front punches through, the air is very, very dry. after 2 or 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, aerials north of
philadelphia there could a couple of snow showers that start developing that's part of the reason why the winter weather advisory is in effect. numbers are cold enough to support snow. 29 in philadelphia. 16 in the pings -- poconos, mill, 25 degrees. the immediate area, cloudy skies from start to finish. temperatures will struggle because of the clouds. 36 degrees. in the lehigh valley, 33, 34. there could snowshowers north of philadelphia. philadelphia areas south and east it's mainly a cloudy day. when i come back in ten minutes we'll talk about the timing of this, who sees the most snow from the storm system, there's another arctic outbreak coming later this week. that's straight ahead in the exclusive accuweather seven-day forecast. >> a lot of cold news. you can count on 6abc.com/weather to keep you up to date on the possible snow. there you can see the seven-day
forecast as well as the storm tracker 6 live radar. be sure to interact with our team of meteorologist each and everyday on twitter and facebook. new this morning, firefighters were called to the refinery complex in south philadelphia after a heater malfunctioned exploded and caught fire. it happened in a small building on the 3100 block of west passyunk avenue. the flames were doused and fuel were a drained from the heater to prevent further problems, nobody was injured. new this morning, a car flipped over on i-95 in chester, delaware county and burst into flames. the action cam was is he scene, i-95 south of perlynn street as the car was pulled on a flat bed truck. the car went out of control at 2:45 a.m., rolled over and caught fire. the driver walked away from the crash. that person is being treated for
minor injuries. no word on charges. >> two people were shot outside a produce market in upper darby and thorn the police are looking for the shooter. this happened in the 6700 block of market street around 5:30 p.m. we are waiting for an update on the condition of the victims. this morning new honors for a wilmington firefighter killed in the line of duty. wilmington firefighter ardythe hope was promoted before being laid to rest. the fire department elevated her to lieutenant during a memorial serve haves at the chase center yesterday. she was awarded the medal of valour for attempting to save two firefighters. that fire took jerry fickes, and captain christopher leach and eventually ardythe hope. wilmington fire chief called hope a fighter and super woman. >> , the mother, the
daughter, the sister, the firefighter, was all about caring for others. >> she told her three children their mom sits alongside kings and queens and watching their every more. >> overseas turkey is observing a day of mourning for 30 people killed near a stadium near istanbul. one of the blasts was caught by a closed circuit camera. 150 people were hurt. the interior minister said 13 people are in custody. the killers are linked to an outlawed kurdish movement. the procured issue party strongly condemned the attack. police firing shots

massive pileup north of detroit. 33 cars and three semis were involved in the crash on i-75. the road was covered in snow and the northbound interstate was shut down for several hours. several inches of snow fell in the midwest. this is a taste of what's to come. a winter storm is moving east from the rockies. chicago and minneapolis could see a foot of snow by tonight.

a top engine five ardythe hope's body was escorted by police through the streets of wilmington. her brothers in the department carried her body into the chase center for a public viewing. her relatives followed behind, montage of photos began the service. there was a presentation of the colors, u.s. senators tom kaepernicker and chris coons and governor jack markell were among those who paid respect to the mother of three. >> they will be a celebration of life and service for our ardie. everybody who knew her know how she enjoyed celebrations this time of year. >> ardie was intelligent and dedicated to service to the lives of others. >> reporter: this is where ardythe hope was critically
injured in late september. you can see flags and flowers on the fence. the sign reads rest in peace, peace,ardie hope, you are loved and miss, hero. hope was fighting the blaze when the floor of the row home collapsed. hope, jerry fickes and christopher leach plummeted into the flames. only one survived. firefighters like hope risk their lives everyday. all gave some, some gave all. >> it is has been said firefighters never die, they just burn forever in the hearts of people whose lives they saved. and in the case of ardie, in the hearts of all those touched by her heroism. >> >> reporter: in wilmington, chad perdelli channel 6 "action news." >> may ardie rest in peace. police in chester are

at the university of pennsylvania. it was here when he received life saving treatment. >> when i walked in, i thought i was dead and dieing. they put me at ease, every time i walked out i felt hopefully'. >> jack was diagnosed with a cute leukemia 2013. he need a bone marrow transplant and his brother was not a match. the search turned international. jack and linda gave up hope. penn found lisa, she registered as a donor when her father's colleague was sick and never called. when she was in 2014 it was for someone she never met. >> a lot of people put themselves out there when they know somebody, but very few do it without knowing.

appears to be a few flurries, same thing with kent county and delaware, the air is so dry, more than likely you are not seeing anything at all. if you see anything it will be flakes. later this afternoon, the air will moisten up, we'll see flakes flying west and north of philadelphia. right now, temperatures in the 20s, windchills are in the 20s, not as harsh as the last couple of days. the main reason for that is because the wind are beginning to die down a little bit. satellite and radar, clouds increasing, you can see the band of snow stretching from harrisburg westward through the great lake states. this is in advance of a warm front that stretches out like this. this drags through after midday. areas north and west of philadelphia, you pick up a period of light snow or snow showers. everybody else mainly cloudy, we'll catch a lull in the action, look at all the cloud
cover and lack of cloud cover down through here, there's going on to be a break. after midnight tonight the second round moves in, that's mainly snow. whatever you see in the lehigh valley, the rain washes away. 4:00 p.m., cloudy skies for everybody, most of the day is dry, unless you're out through here, far western suburbs, lehigh valley, you'll see more than what the model is showing. there's the break in the evening hours not much of anything going on. snow showers periods of light snow remaining in the lehigh valley. again, it's after midnight when all this is starting to reload. we're stopping this at 4:00 a.m., raining for just about everybody. lehigh valley snow changing over to rain. at 4:00 a.m., it's snowing in the poconos, but even there we expect a changeover to rain before the end. 8:00 a.m., heart of the rush hour it's raining for everybody. it's a cold rain and it can
create slick spots. don't let your guard down. tomorrow morning, it's mainly rain as you head into work and school and not snow. as we progress this along, monday afternoon, cloud may attempt to break for a little bit of sunshine before the sun sets. breaking it down, this is areas north and west of philadelphia, 1 to 6:00 p.m. expect a period of light snow or snow showers. then we get into the break, 6:00 p.m. to midnight. from midnight on until noon on monday, the rain washes the snow away. as far as accumulations we're not expecting all that much. perhaps a half inch to an inch, this shade here, far western suburbs and the lehigh valley. just a couple of flakes around around pennsylvania turnpike. 38 in philadelphia, 42 in cape may. after midnight, here comes round number two. whatever snow you're seeing up
