meteorologist, david murphy. >> good morning. it's 6:00 a.m. on this tuesday december 13th. here's what's happening. >> two people are shot in a south jersey community. police find one of the victims dead on a front porch. >> bill cosby is due back in a montgomery county courthouse today for a pretrial hearing in his sex assault case. >> overnight work on the schuylkill expressway goes too long is that causing big traffic backups as we speak. >> good morning. karen is off. we'll get dave murphy you inn a moment but let's start with matt pelman and all those traffic troubles on the schuylkill. good morning. >> yeah you definitely don't expect this as you head out on a tuesday morning. the schuylkill has been closed from time to time overnight and at this point headed eastbound just the right lane shoulder is getting by this overnight construction. it was overhead sign work that they were doing all night long. it was scheduled. they were going to block one lane in each direction until 5 o'clock. well, several things changed with that. it was multiple lanes with complete stoppages at times and as you know, it's now 6 o'clock, not 5 o'clock so we

have major delays as you can see from chopper6 hd. let's go to our next camera show. it also shows you the eastbound backlog as you come away from belmont avenue. it is parking lot passing the roosevelt boulevard into that construction scene which is approaching montgomery drive. 52 minutes already. should be 14 minutes. so, if you're coming eastbound toward the city this morning, don't use 76. up wants to use the river drives or think outside the box and take ridge avenue or lancaster avenue. eastbound schuylkill is a mess. westbound is sluggish but all westbound lanes are opened. we don't know when this is going to clear out. state police saying it could be out there for a few more hours. that could be a huge problem. we already are looking at speeds like 5 miles per hour. the better news is no major issues just some building volume along 95 southbound. vine is opened after overnight construction and the work on the turnpike connector bridge has cleared out between new jersey and pennsylvania, so things are looking up in a few spots. what about those temperatures dave murphy? are they up this

morning? >> unfortunately, no, they're down pretty low down around the freezing mark matt. take a look at sat life. we have some cloud cover filtered in overnight and there might be some early sunshine but generally speaking we are looking at the clouds getting thicker and thicker as we go in through the morning and afternoon. 37 degrees currently in philadelphia. that number is actually up 1 degree from the last hour but it's still pretty cold. and in most of our suburbs we're colder than that. 34 in trenton and wilmington. 31 degrees below the freezing mark in allentown. 32 in reading. 31 in millville and now down 39 in cape may. not much wind out there. most of us dealing with single digit winds so we're not really worrying too much about wind chill this morning. as we go through the day t-it stays cool. 33 degrees by 7 o'clock. 40 by noon. clouds increasing. and then by 3 o'clock, 43 degrees. that's your high. by 5 o'clock we're back to 40 and by 7 o'clock 38. tomorrow a similar high in the low 40's but after that matt and tam, we have an arctic crush of air coming in. highs in the 20's on thursday and friday with worse wind chills. details on all that of coming up.

>> we know you'll keep us ready for that david. thank you. we continue to follow some breaking news here right now. as we take a -- this is from this morning. police are searching for the suspect who attempted to rob two meniere a gentleman's club in philadelphia. the two men were walking away from the club when the suspect shot one of them in the face. the second man returned fire before he drove the victim to temple university hospital. there's no word yet on the victim's condition. and also happening today, bill cosby will be back in a montgomery county courthouse. his lawyers are fighting to limit the number of other accusers who can testify at his sexual assault trial. let's go topher katherine scott. she's live outside the courthouse in norristown with all the details. goodgood morning, katherine. >> reporter: good morning, tam. this is a key issue for both sides. can 13 other accusers testify at this trial? that's what a judge will have to decide. another hearing for bill cosby is that scheduled at montgomery county court. today and tomorrow the actor

will be back in norristown. at issue, whether prosecutors can call 13 other accusers in an over to the show the actor had a pattern of drugging and molesting women. cosby was charged with sexually assaulting former temple university employee andrea constand in 2004. district attorney kevin steele argues the 13 women's stories are relevant because they establish a common scheme or plan. some of the women are said to have only known him for a few days. others had ongoing relationships with cosby. but the defense is trying to keep them off the witness stand questioning the relevance of credibility. they say the commonwealth is trying to use the women to bolster their weak case. the defense had wanted to question these 13 women in person. the judge rejected that idea. the hearing is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m. we're live in norristown, katherine scott, channel6 "action news. >> thanks, katherine. new this morning, a man with a knife held up a

7-eleven in wynnewood overnight. it happened just before 2:00 this morning on the 1400 block of city a the robber threatened clerk with the weapon and stole an unknown amount of cash fleeing the scene on foot. no injuries were reported. >> 6:06. two men came under attack while sitting in a car in the city's olney section. you can see the shattered windows shot out along third street. someone opened fire around 5:15 yesterday evening. the men ages 42 and 41 were taken to the hospital in stable condition. investigators are still trying to figure out who shot these men and why. around the same time in the city's hunting park section a gunman shot a 21-year-old man. this shooting happened along the 3900 block of north eighth street. the victim was shot in the chest and the leg and is now in critical condition. >> a victim was left dead on the front porch of a home and another was sent to the hospital. chopper6 over the unit block of plumtree lane in willingboro as police investigated this scene. police and medics responded to

a report of shots fired at the residence at 8 o'clock last night. the wounded victim was transported to our lady of lourdes hospital. that person's condition ha has not been release the. a place where you may have gone to draw blood was overdrawn by hackers. thousands of customers are. ed. maribel aber is live at the nasdaq in times square with this latest hacking. hi maribel. good morning matt. quest diagnostic says a security breach has exposed the personal health information of about 34,000 people. the madison new jersey company says hackers attacked an internet application. harks gained acutes to my customer information including names dates of birth and lab results. quest says it's notified affected clients by mail. the dow posted another game while broader markets fell. futures pointing to a higher open o gas prices are heading higher after the world's major oil producers agreed to cut production. gas averaged $2.21 a gallon yesterday according to gas

to a dry start this morning. as we take a look outside we have some clouds overhead above camden and penn's landing in the foreground there. might see some early sunshine but clouds generally speak regular going to get thicker as we go through the morning and afternoon. and here are the morning temps. it is coat weather of course being december. 31 degrees in allentown, 32 right now in reading, forty four trenton and wilmington and we have climbed to fledge philadelphia. may actually drop again a degree or two before we start to turn at this time around for good. 39 degrees in cape may. even down by the shore which is typically one of the milder spots this time of year it's still in the upper 30's. there were the clouds and they have thickened up a little bit overnight. they might be thin enough to be able to allow some sunshine in at times during the morning hours but as we go through the day again we're looking at least clouds and probably a little thicker cloud cover as we mover through the day. increasing clouds in the lehigh valley, 39 degrees. at least the winds respect light this morning and they're staying light today so 39 is cold but it's not like you're

going to have a real driving strong wind to worry about as well. increasing clouds at the shore 46 is your high down by that ocean water. and then 43 degrees in philadelphia with increasing clouds, chilly conditions, winds again staying on the light side today, probably in the single digits most of the way. and then later on this afternoon and this evening you have cloud cover at 5 o'clock. later in the evening hours some showers respect possible. probably after about 9 o'clock or so. the farther north you go there should be a snow shower mixing in. probably not a big impact events but something to keep in mind if you're out driving this evening in those northern areas. overnight tonight following that evening shower we dry up. 33 is the overnight low in philadelphia, some suburbs in the mid to upper 20's and the winds start to pick una little bit overnight. then tomorrow a bit on the breezy side, 42 degrees is the high but the big feature on the map is going to be this arctic front which is on our doorstep tomorrow and in the nighttime it's going to pass through. we'll wind up with colder air coming in wednesday night staying with us on thursday and friday and also some

strong winds behind that front, so this is a combination that's going to make things very uncomfortability starting wednesday night and going through thursday and the cold anyway staying with us on friday. on thursday that will be the worst. area of low pressure up by quebec with strong winds circulate argue round it. look for wind chills between zero in the morning up to about 10 in the afternoon and then in the northern suburbs below zero at times. your exclusive accuweather 7-day forecast, today's high is 43. tomorrow 42. couple of days where you can get stuff done. but on wednesday night it turns frigid. we drop to 25 with strong winds and on thursday a high of just 24 and a bitter wind making it feel like it's about 10 to 15 degrees at the best of times and below zero wind chills in some of those outlying suburbs in the morning and maybe again thursday night. then thursday night the winds die down but we drop to 15 and on friday we only get back to 23. the next issue is friday night into saturday when we have some snow friday night, maybe mixing with some ice:definitely snow mixing with ice on saturday morning.

>> ♪ >> welcome back. chopper is six still over the schuylkill expressway. look at that line of lights just sitting there almost. this is near the montgomery exit. earlier this morning on the eastbound side there was crane work on some of the signs changing things around and that had only the shoulder getting by. the crane is gone but the backup continues to be a problem. >> you think overnight construction might have run a little bit too late right.

>> i think so much they were scheduled until 5 o'clock block one lane in each direction. they did so much more than that and so the damage is now extensive because they still have multiple lanes blocked on the schuylkill expressway. we're seeing the backlog here from chopper6 hd. this is where the roosevelt boulevard extension comes in and joins up with 76 eastbound, east falls is right back here. the westbound side is moving okay. they've reopened the westbound lanes. unfortunately it's the eastbound side which you use to get into center city which is still restricted. as we look live you can see here the crews still out here even though the crane is gone. they're still blocking the three left lanes so traffic is only getting by in right lane head toward the city. you still want to think alternates to the eastbound schuylkill at this point unless you like that nearly hour travel time which i don't think you're going to. you can stick with the river drivers, you can stick with lancaster avenue over there, ridge a you start to jam now back around gladwyne and you're looking at single digit speeds coming in on the

schuylkill coming eastbound because of those ongoing restrictions approaching montgomery drive. it's a mess and of course we'll continue to keep you posted. we're also getting word of some new accidents out there. one in the pottstown area is on the ramp from west high street to route 100 southbound. that ramp is partially blocked with the waze app last time i mentioned icy conditions along gearyville pike. in delaware a crashology 95 northbound approaching the service area causing slowing there as well. matt. >> thanks matt. prosecutors could soon wrap up their case against the man accused of killing nine people during a bible study at an african-american church south carolina. handwritten notes by dylan roof his parents were among exhibits released by federal officials yesterday. agents also testified they found a list of other local black churches in roofer's car. authorities say the 22-year-old has admitted to opening fire at a prayer group in june of last year. nine people were killed. roof could face the death

penalty if convicted on all counts. >> new here at 6:00 dashcam video shows a police deputy saving a child whose neck was pinned by that atn georgia. ray rodriguez attached toe strap to his cruiser then backed up the car to pull the rolled over atv off that boy. thanks to the officer's quick actions the child is bruised but otherwise okay. >> and this is now. the granny who stole christmas. that is what a missouri homeownerrer is calling the woman who swiped packages right off his front porch. a home earn says surveillance cameras caught a black hummer passing his drive way four times in less than five minutes in oakville back on wednesday then you see what looks like an elderly woman walking up to the house and swiping three packages. >> this time of year it's really known for this type of stuff. criminals know that packages are being delivered to people's houses for christmas. >> the homeowner says he is thankful to have the surveillance video to help police catch the granny.

work and at times they were stopping all traffic in both directions. all the wind of westbound -- westbound lanes are reopen. as they pick up these eastbound cones they still have lanes blocked so we are still down a lane or two which means, yes, this, a parking lot coming eastbound on 76 and southbound on the roosevelt boulevard extension across the schuylkill river. let's go to our next camera shot. it's back around belmont on the schuylkill and you can see these cars heading eastbound are not budging but our travel time s it keeps climbing. now up to an hour -- oh, there goes an ambulance as well so i'm wondering in they've got something up there in the backlog as well. but now 13 minutes now on the eastbound travel time should be about 13 minutes so an extra hour as you come eastbound towards center city. jammed now starts back around conshohocken and you're looking it's a single digit speeds heading into that work zone approaching montgomery drive. you need to think alternates like ridge pike, route 23,

route 30 lancaster avenue, 31 the whole way into west philadelphia. once you get closer to the city stick with the river drives. schuylkill eastbound is a mess and of course we'll keep you posted. crash in pottstown on the high street ramp to 100 is gone but there's icy conditions in marlboro in jerryville pike. low temps out there this morning right david. >> yeah, some spots are below freezing. so if you had any moisture around it certainly froze up overnight. overall looking at cloudy skies this morning. over to the east a little bit of break in the clouds down by the shore. you can kind of see some of that in cape may county opening up. but most of you are going to start out with clouds overhead and we're also cold. in philadelphia at 37. closer to the freezing mark in allentown reading lancaster and millville. trenton at 34. wilmington at 34. cape may at 39 degrees. and you were winds not all there strong this morning. so there's one piece of good news. you don't have to worry any any strong wind chills. as we go through the day it stays chilly. 37 degrees by seven, 43 is your high at 3 o'clock this

afternoon. if i 5 o'clock 40. by 7 o'clock upper 30's. a similar day tomorrow. as we go into wednesday night into thursday that arctic air arrives with severe wind chills. i'll have details on all that of coming up matt and tam. >> thank you david. more breaking news. a plan was slot in the face outside of a club in philadelphia. it happened during an attempted robbery. "action news" reporter annie mccormick is live at temple university hospital where that victim is being treated. annie. >> reporter: matt we just got an update on that victim's condition. he was shot in the face and he's in serious condition here at temple university hospital. i want you to take a look behind me. you can see that white bmw there with the police crime scene tape around it. that's because police are holding this car here at temple university hospital. that is the vehicle that the victim was in at the time of the shooting. well, take a look at this video. this is a closer look at the car we are just talking about. you can see app bullet hole in the passenger side window. that is where they do believe the bullet did go through the

windshield and then hit the victim in the face. now, this is video from near broad and germantown where police say two men left the jungle club and then walked around the corner. when they got into a car parked in the 3700 block of germantown, a suspect walked up with a gun and announced a robbery. he fired one shot hitting the 28-year-old passenger in the face. the 33-year-old driver fired back with his own weapon that was in the vehicle then drove to my temple hospital. now, there was also a shot that hit the window of a deli in the same block of the shooting scene. police found about eight shell casings on that block and they are still looking for the suspect. >> what we don't know at this time whether or not the initial perpetrator was shot by gunfire. he's described as a male five hyphenate his late 20's and he's wearing a blood pressure hooded sweatshirt. he fled on foot in an unknown direction. >> and back outs here live

again in that car is the gun that was used to fire back at the suspect. that's another reason that police are holding this vehicle waiting for a tow truck to come. they're also waiting for crime scene investigators to come out here as well. we're also told that at the scene that police found in a trash can nearby at least 10 vials of marijuana. they're working to find out if that was possibly kented to any of -- connected to any of this. they're working to find out if that gun that still remains in the bmw if the driver had a permit to carry. for that now reporting live outside of temple university hospital annie mccormick channel6 "action news." back to you. >> all right, thank you annie. happening today, comedian and actor bill cosby is set to appear in a montgomery county courtroom. at issue is a key question, will some of his past accusers be allowed to testify in his current sex assault trial. be back here again today for pretrial hearing. this one focuses on whether 13 past accusers can also testify at this trial. this is a big issue for both sides and we expect a battle. this trial scheduled for the spring is for charge that is bill cosby sexually assaulted former temple university employee andrea constand at his cheltenham moment in 2004. prosecutors warrant to call 13 other women to testify in an effort to show cosby had a pattern of drugging and molesting women from the 70's to the 90's. some of the women are towed have only known him for a few days others had ongoing relationships with cosby. district corner and attorney kevin steele argues the 13 women's stories are relevant because they establish a common scheme or plan but the defense is crying foul saying the commonwealth is trying to bolster their weak case. cosby's lawyers will try to keep the women off the witness stand attack the relevance to the case and their

credibility. the defense wanted to question the women in person but the judge didn't allow it. the judge already ruled cosby's deposition testimony can be used at trial where he talks about his affairs incolliding the night with constand and giving quaaludes to women he wanted to have sex with. now the question remains if these accusers can testify. and this hearing is that scheduled for 9:00 a.m. expected to last two days. live in norristown katherine scott channel6 "action news. >> thank you katherine. 6:37. we have new details in the case against the man charged with murdering a lehigh county woman nearly three years ago. michael horvath a coworker of the victim holly grim is charged with murder and kidnapping. grim's remains weren't found on horvath's property in monroe county just this past october. now investigators reveal they also found two gun cartridges a book of notes and pictures of grim's home there. grim disappeared in november of 2013. police say horvath had been on their radar the entire time.

>> let's turn to dave murphy now to talk about our accuweather today and some major stuff coming our way this week. >> yeah, cold air in a couple of days and it's going to be the kind you remember for awhile. storm tracker6 live double scan this morning shows you we're dry. as we take a look outside we have sky6 looking east and you can see some breaks in the clouds over towards the coast but the rest of us are socked in by clouds and overall early sunny breaks should give way to less and less sun as we head later into the day and into the afternoon. it's cold out there. temperatures 37 in philadelphia and that's one of the milder spots. most of our suburbs are down closer to the freezing mark. not much wind out there, though. west-northwest at just 6 miles per hour so we don't have to worry about any big time wimp. there you see the clouds getting thicker. some breaks down by the shore and as we go through the morning and afternoon clouds will continues to thicken up. it's going to stay chilly today. 36 degrees by 8 o'clock, 37 by 10 o'clock and then 40 degrees by noon. your high today is 43 at about 3 o'clock, fairly cloudy then and by 6 o'clock 39 degrees getting down into the 30's

pretty quickly during the evening hours. high temperatures this afternoon with gathering clouds and light winds, 39 in allentown, 42 in trenton, 40 in reading, 43 in wilmington and philadelphia and millville and cape may. up to brow bow 46 this afternoon at the airport in atlantic city again everybody experiencing light single digit winds today. later this afternoon it will be fairly cloudy. this is the 5 o'clock view on future tracker6. as we advance this later this evening there's the chance of a shower popping up probably after about 9 o'clock or 9:30 on the model run. up north it could be a snow shower. i'm correcting fairly low impact from this but if you're driving around in those northern areas tonight unsee some of that snow you got to slow it down. then tomorrow a similar day with a high of 42. might be a little breezier but the big feature on the map tomorrow will be that arctic boundary just to our west. this will be pushing in during the day and at night we're going to see that many front come through, temperatures plunge behind it and the winds really pick up so tomorrow during the day you're okay. but those winds and cold air will be on the way on wednesday night and will stay

with us on thursday and still kind of cold on friday. the big ticket day though will be thursday where during the wind chills in philadelphia and down the shore will make it feel like it's between about 10 degrees and zero and then in the northern and western suburbs it will feel like zero up to about 10 below zero especially before dawn. and then up in the poconos wind chills between 10 and 15 degrees below zero. wow. so, that's thursday. and as you'll see friday is also an issue. 43 today increasing clouds. that little shower or snow shower tonight. clouds and sun on wednesday a high of 42. but then a frigid night with the winds picking up temperatures dipping into the 20's and the high on thirst thursday 24 degrees making it feel like 10 at the best of times in philadelphia. friday 23 wind chills in the teens. friday night we'll see snow that could mix with sleet and even freezing rain and we're checking some of in on saturday morning as well snow mixing with freezing rain and sleet and then eventually

>> ♪ >> just about 6:44. tuesday morning. this is our big traffic story of the morning. it is breaking news. you're taking a look at route one which is one of the highways being impacted by some construction work along the schuylkill expressway that went a little too late this morning. >> and that is making for a really difficult tuesday morning matt pelman. >> yeah, it was very lengthy construction zone that gave us some very lengthy delays that we're still watching. matt and tam this is the schuylkill and they were working in the eastbound lanes approaching plot drive. they have been in the process now for a little bit of backing up and picking up their cones. they've madewhat thirty three whack on the roosevelt boulevard extension and there at the bottom of the screen the crews are out there backing up picking up their cones in the left lane but the delays from this earlier construction are extensive. coming down the boulevard extension you start to jam around broad street and then we're barely moving on down to that zone near ridge avenue where they're still picking up the cones.

over on the schuylkill expressway, you start to jam just past conshohocken in through this points just past the boulevard. still a 53 minute travel time that ideally should be about 13 or 14 minutes. in fact let's look at the speeds. just 6 miles per hour coming east on the schuylkill in towards center city this morning. again jam starts just past conshohocken. some people bailing out onto the blue route southbound so we're getting extra traffic there now with speeds dropping into the 40's down around lima springfield. think alternates. you could take the blue route southbound. stick with route 30 lancaster avenue. you could use route 23. you could use ridge pike into ridge avenue but the schuylkill eastbound you still want to avoid at this point and we've been watch something other situations in the burbs. a downed flee lower pottsgrove blocking sanatoga road. in marlboro icy conditions an crash along gearyville pike at hoppingville road. an accidents involving a deer along township line road at

kimberly drive road. tam. >> done trauma trouble has named rex tillerson as his pick for secretary of state. the transition office said tillerson will be a forceful and advocate for america's interest but the election could set trump up for a potential fight with congress over confirming tillerson including with some top republicans this is over tillerson's close dealings with russia especially those questions about russian hacking have been raised. tillerson has worked closely with the state owned oil and gas industry in russia and he's the only american to have ever received the order of friendship from that vladimir putin. >> this is new a bomb threat forced a pilot to make an emergency landing in new york. a lufthansa flight from houston texas when someone made the bomb threat to the airline's corporate office. the pilot learned of the call and opted to land the plane at j.f.k. airport. more than 500 passengers were evacuated. it's still unclear what the threat was all about and

>> looks like a good slow. see you soon robyn. >> we're going keep on going this morning we're just going really slow on a bunch of these roads like the vine street expressway. now there's a crash in the westbound lanes approaching broad street involve this truck. right lane out of commission so you're extra heavy as you come away from i-95 on the westbound side. in voorhees watch out for an accident along 73 at cooper road impacting traffic both ways but it's especially slow on the northbound side. just 14 miles per hour. there was a wreck on 295 northbound in that camden county. that cleared pretty quickly so at this point on 295, 42 and 55, it's just normal delays, david. >> temperatures in a lot of neighborhoods this morning matt are in the neighborhood of freezing so do bundle the kids up with extra gear. this afternoon they probably still wants the heavy coat because it's not getting all that warm today. 35 degrees by 7 o'clock. not much wind, that's good. by noon 40 and by 3 o'clock that's your high, 43 degrees. then 40 at 5 o'clock. 7 o'clock 38 degrees. light winds. clouds gathering as the day goes on. it looks like we stay dry until later on this evening when there could be a shower
