she later died marking the second homicide of the area in just two days. tonight an entire community is on alert. thursday evening and monica is off and sharrie williams is joining us and the big story on "action news" is the investigation still underway at the housing village complex. jeff spoke to neighbors today and he is live at camden police with the details. >> reporter: sharrie and rick, you feel for the children, we are told that they were home when their mother was shot once in the head. she is the second person to have been killed in that very apartment unit since november. >> detectives were back at the village apartments in camden knocking on doors to get information to find the person that fatally shot a 34-year-old mother. >> i think about the kids, they suffer the most. >> shortly before 11:30 officers responded to a 911 call for the report of a shooting on river avenue near east state street. the victim's children were
inside when their mother was shot in the head and she died minutes later in the hospital and the second murder in that very unit in months. >> that is the first thing that came to my mind. not number 7 again. i don't know what is going on. >> the 27-year-old man died of stab wounds he sustained on the second floor that apartment. darryl townsend is charged in his death and police are not say first degree the incidents are related. >> it has to stop and it has to stop. >> it's crazy people don't realize there are kidded out here and innocent people. >> this community has seen its share of violence recently. this woman's child, sean johnson was gunned down on east state street. the city of camden saw 44 homicides a 29% increase. for each grieving family, the
numbers can't measure the loss. my son had three kids and it's christmas time and instead of celebrating christmas we are planning a funeral, it's not right, it's not fair. >> the name of last night's victim has not been released. police are not saying a lot about this case. if you know igabout this, are you urged to call the camden county prosecutors office. channel 6 "action news." >> all right jeff thank you. a montgomery county woman is now facing charges after her missing daughter was found dead hundreds of miles away from home. grace parker was reported missing by her mother last july. police were told that she ran away from her abington home with $300 because she was upset because she was not allowed to go to a friend's home. weeks ago grace's remains were found in rural luzerne county and now they say that her mother
grace parker gave miss leading information. and charged with endangerment and a person of interest in her death. people are asking for information about grace or sara packer to please call police. disturbing video, released by new jersey's attorney general, at abuse and neglect of patients by their home health care providers. the attorney general hopes to catch providers that treat patients this way with a new safe care program. they loan cameras to people that expect abuse. >> if you think you will mistreat an individual that can't report your abuse, you may be on video tape. so think twice is the message. >> officials say that the cameras are hidden inside of every day objects and they are motion activated and store up to eight hours of footage. >> police in coatesville are

at 6:30, right after "action news" at 6:00. police say this man swiped four prepaid phones. it happened at 6:30 in the evening. the phones are worth $500, if you know the identify of this man you are asked to contact evesham township police. philadelphia police are searching for this guy, who they say used a large kitchen knife to rob a 7-eleven in south philadelphia. at the store on south second street last month. the man police say is in his late 50s pulled the knife from the waist band and demanded money and the clerk filled up a trash bag with cash and the thief took off. no one was injured. 24 men and women marked a milestone on their career path
this afternoon, they graduated in camden county college's 69th police academy class. nine have batch loves degrees and three have associates degrees. now they use that knowledge to make south jersey a safer place. pennsylvania state police in media pitched in to give more than 2,000 children a happy holiday. they collected all of these toys to donate and they were overwhelmed by the community's generosity and before they knew it they were able to help even more families. >> it started out with one family and the generous donations from the troopers and friends of troopers and the alumni association we were able to expand that to where we have approximately 25 kids we are helping this holiday season. troopers deliver the toys that will be under the tree in time for christmas. >> christmas is still just a few
