investigators he is live with a look at some of the prep. >> hi alicia when people gather in large numbers it becomes a police matter and security is paramount these days, we have seen what new york has announced what it is going to do tomorrow night in times square. traditionally philadelphia does not go into the detail about the measures and staffing, today a spokesperson did say philadelphia did follow best practices. we are mindful of that out lieding patrols and investigations as well. the number one priority is keeping people safe. in less than 48 hours from now the area will be awash with mummers and crowds of people. the night before many thousands will gather on the river for fireworks, between fireworks and mummers, tens of thousands of people. celebrating this weekend. holiday crowds by definition are

soft targets in europe and paris in a pair of attacks, killed 98 people using nothing more exotic than 18 wheeler trucks, new york will beef up security around times square tomorrow night. 7,000 officers, security check points and the 65 large sanitation trucks loaded with sand placed at key locations to block attacks. philadelphia has used similar methods in the past. we use a number of those tactics in the past in a number of different events here at the dnc and our celebration we have during july 4th, the same type of tactics in place with barricades and various types and nature, a contingent of officers. >> reporter: as they say in these times when large numbers of people gather even for a holiday police need to be concerned about security.

the church in south philadelphia this morning to say their final good-byes, 81-year-old marie buck was killed if her grocery store on christmas eve. hundreds turned out last night and again this morning to pay their respects to this beloved shop keeper. >> she is wonderful. i miss you marie. >> it makes you feel better if justice is served. but that does not bring her back. >> 31-year-old maurice green was charged in buck's murder and police say he went to the store to confront her grandson over stolen jewelry but he wasn't there. fast moves flames ripped through the home of the unit block of red cedar lane after 7:00 this morning. the show shows smoke coming from the home as firefighters worked to get it under control. pennsylvania once again leads the country in reported

cases of lyme disease. according to tracking from the center for disease control and prevention. the state had more than 1,000 cases, three times more than new york with the second highest cases. systems include fever, chills and joint aches, if untreated it can lead to arthritis and other probl problems. more to come on "action news." a police officer in texas caught a teen smoking pot and what he did next is gaining national attention on social media. and amazon may take drone delivery to a whole new level. hear their plans for a flying warehouse coming up.

these dream fulfillment centers store everything in the air with all of your goodies in the air. and the drones would be released delivering your dvd's yoga pants or whatever to your door. despite amazon's grand plans shoppers should no the be looking to the skies just yet. >> it's not uncommon at all for a company to file and receive approval for dozens and dozens of patents that they may not put resources behind. but a company that could make it happen is amazon. a texas police officer is getting praise on the internet for what he did after finding a teenager smoking pot. officer eric ball was off duty and got word that a teen was smoking marijuana at theentance. >> i wanted to teach him a

down to the southern portion of the area. snow showers down there, we go in tighter, and parts of atlantic county are starting to pick up some of this. millville getting rid of one and starting to see another, south of salem picking up this as well. same story south of wilmington in newcastle county delaware and another one down by smyrna. smaller blips are up north, the one good thing is you are seeing snowfall in most areas at the surface are well above freezing, minimal impact. a good burst of snow and quickly whiten the surface and making things slick. slow it down if you get into a burst of snow. as we take a look outside sky 6 hd, this is a live image showing cloud cover and we are looking at radar again off camera.

and seeing that snow shower coming out of the cloud that you see on the left. that is an example that you see from the dark clouds coming at you and giving you a quick burst of snow. and temperature 42 degrees dew point at 19 overall the air is dry and enough stability with the cool air aloft and lake-effect from the left where there say burst of snow here or there and another big part of the story today. very blustery and gusts in the 30s. up to 40 miles per hour today. and pretty darn chilly out there. the big showers are up in the poconos and one or two from allentown and north bucks later. most of the northern area would have a better chance of a snow shower and early evening when the temperatures are getting colder, you see one of those things you slow it down. 39 is the high and 40 in reading and 42 in philadelphia. we are starting to slide out of the philadelphia or so.

42 in cape may, by 2:0041 degrees already falling to 41 at 2:00 and 46 by 6:00 and down to the freezing mark at 2:00. it's blustery during the daytime period. as we get into the evening the winds settle down a bit. it won't be as blustery and we are getting down to the freezing mark by 10:00 if you have plans to get out and about. make sure you bring along the winter coat and gear. saturday 43 and sunday 50, nice highs for this time of year, 50 a lot above average for new years day and along the way we have fireworks for the forecast for you. and it looks like penn's landing looking at 42 at 4:00 and we may slip to 40. and we'll see temperatures rise a bit and by midnight we may be up to 41. usually you go to bed and you

don't experience it. this is a nice night to have that happen. and for the eagles game if you head to the final game against the cowboys on sunday, bright skies and 49 for the kickoff with a high of 50 in the fourth quarter. today windy and chilly and 43 tomorrow and sun and clouds and partly sunny and nice on sunday, for the mummers you have start out at 43 degrees and 48 for the end of the parade. and then monday and tuesday, rain and drizzle occasionally both days but temperatures climb 48 monday but up to 60 on tuesday. and then not bad on wednesday, the rain is gone and still up to 57 degrees, after that alicia it's back to reality. a high of 40 on wednesday and probably the 30s by next friday. >> we'll take the dream in between. thank you. in today's people scene, it was an exciting morning for a popular tv personality who
